U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will be the keynote speaker at the fourth annual J Street conference in Washington later this month, it was announced on Tuesday.
J Street, an advocacy organization that describes itself as "pro-Israel and pro-peace," promotes a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians based on a two-state solution.
This year's J Street conference, titled "Our Time to Lead," will take place Sept. 28 to Oct. 1.
Biden will speak on Sept. 30, the same day that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House.
Biden will be the highest-level U.S. official ever to have spoken at a J Street conference.
U.S. Middle East peace envoy Martin Indyk will also take part in the conference. A number of Israeli politicians from various political parties, including Likud, Yesh Atid, Hatnuah, Labor and Shas, will attend and speak at the event.
