Iran has “accurate information” indicating that Israel was behind a series of explosions in Syria, which have been so far blamed on “armed groups,” Iran’s Mehr news agency quoted Iran’s minister of intelligence as saying on Monday.

According to a report on the Lebanese news portal Now Lebanon, Iran is alleging that bombings across the country in recent months have been orchestrated by Israel. Most recently, twin explosions targeting security targets in Damascus  killed 27 people and left more than 100 wounded.

“Unfortunately, we also have documents that some countries are going along with such [actions in Syria] without realizing it,” the news agency quoted Iranian Intelligence and National Security Minister Hojjatol-Islam Heydar Moslehi as saying.

“The Americans and the Zionists are attempting to exploit the movement of Islamic renaissance in the region by using some agents in Syria. Unfortunately, some regional countries, which think the wave of Islamic renaissance will reach them, went along with the Americans and the Zionists without realizing it,” he was quoted as saying.

Syrian opposition forces have reported that Iranian soldiers have been helping the Assad regime crack down on the popular uprising, which so far has seen more than 9,000 people killed.
