Hezbollah has arrested three senior officials inside the organization on suspicion of spying for the CIA and Mossad, the Al-Arabiya TV network and Lebanese media reported on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the three officials, Jihad Jalul, Mohammed Husseini and Mohammed Sabaa, were veteran members of the organization. They reportedly used their high-ranking status to spy for Israel and the U.S. for a number of years in exchange for large sums of money. They were reportedly uncovered after Israel allegedly bombed and destroyed a surveillance station in southern Lebanon earlier this month.

Husseini was reportedly recruited by the CIA in Paris. His recruitment was staged to look like French police had arrested him for his involvement in bringing illegal Lebanese immigrants to France. Husseini would meet his American operators in Paris, and they ordered him to monitor the movements of senior Hezbollah official Hassan Izz-Al-Din, in order to eventually kidnap him. A high-ranking source in Hezbollah confirmed that Husseini admitted under interrogation that Israel's security establishment had planned to assassinate Izz-Al-Din and therefore activated Husseini.

The report also stated that Sabaa, who served as assistant to Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah's political advisor Hussein Halil for several years, and Jalul, a senior official in Hezbollah's financial department who was involved in corruption cases, were recruited to bring in new agents for the CIA and the Mossad.
