A shipment of weapons bound for Egypt has been intercepted by Italian authorities in the port of Naples, the Italian news agency ANSA reported on Saturday.
The report, confirmed by Italian police, said that the operation to seize the weapons was based on information Italy received from Israel.
One Egyptian national was taken into custody by Italian police, according to the report.
The shipment in question reportedly included five containers, one of which held a rocket launcher.
The five containers are being examined in an area of the port cordoned off by Italian security forces.
In recent years, Israel has made great efforts to thwart the smuggling of weapons to Hamas and other terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip. The main way weaponry reaches Gaza is via tunnels under the border with Egypt.
