Zionists are descendants of apes and pigs, Morsi said in 2010

In an interview before becoming president of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi called peace negotiations between "Zionists" and the Palestinian Authority "futile" and a "waste of time and opportunities" • "Jews are inherently hostile," he said.

Zionists are the "descendants of apes and pigs," and peace negotiations between them and the Palestinian Authority are "futile" and a "waste of time and opportunities," Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi said in 2010, before he became president.

Morsi made the comments, which were translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, during two interviews with the Lebanese Al-Quds satellite channel, on May 20 and Sept. 23, 2010.



In the interviews, Morsi describes the Palestinian Authority as a creation "of the Zionist and American enemies, for the sole purpose of opposing the will of the Palestinian people and its interests."

"Either [you accept] the Zionists and everything they want, or else it is war," Morsi said. He also called on all Arabs and Muslims "outside of Palestine" to act in all forms of resistance against "those criminal Zionists who attack Palestine and the Palestinians."

In the first interview, Morsi called on the Muslim world to "confront the Zionist entity," and pointed out that the "Jews are inherently hostile" and that Zionists "only understand the language of strength."

Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, assumed office on June 30, 2012, in Egypt's first democratic election. He succeeded Hosni Mubarak, who was forced to resign in February 2011.
