The Likud party's renowned campaign guru, Arthur Finkelstein, has denied reports published last week that he abandoned the joint Likud-Yisrael Beytenu election campaign.
"This is stupid; it’s ridiculous. The fact that the Left spread these rumors attests to how difficult their situation is," Finkelstein said on Saturday.
"In none of the previous elections I advised did I ever stay in Israel on election day, and my flight home last week was booked back in November. This is ridiculous. Don't they [the Left] have more important things to worry about, like Iran?"
His comments come after reports last week said Finkelstein quit the Likud-Beytenu campaign because his influence on it had been diminishing.
Party officials rejected the reports, saying Finkelstein was still a part of the campaign, and his departure had been according to schedule.
