While the regional rivalry between the Sunnis and Shiites has been around for centuries, it has intensified in recent years in light of Iran's regional ambitions and nuclear program.
The recent tensions with Iran have made Israel strike unlikely alliances with the Arab world and has resulted in the Islamic Republic becoming an outcast, to the point that even on the supposed united goal of "liberating Jerusalem," Iran is no longer considered a legitimate player by the Arabs.
It's not every day that one can see such a clear clash between Arabs and Iranians on live telvision, but on Thursday it was clearly on display, in what has surely made Israeli decision-makers and average citizens smile.
