This past week, 129 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Tel Aviv, according to a report from the Corona National Information and Knowledge Center operated by the Health Ministry and the IDF. The figures are updated to June 8.
The report notes that 66 of the new cases were identified among the city's population of foreign laborers, who have no official status in Israel. Most of the new carriers were aged 20-49 and most of them live in south Tel Aviv.

Over 2% of coronavirus tests conducted on residents of Tel Aviv come back positive, and the weekly attack rate (a measure of how quickly the virus spreads) in the city stands 2.49, which is higher than the national average.
Another city that is giving public health officials cause for concern is Safed, which unlike Tel Aviv, is home to a large Haredi population. The number of cases in Safed rose from two to 11 this past week. Safed has been labeled a "red city," which means that it is one stage before becoming subject to localized quarantine and other strict restrictions.
Israel's southernmost city, Eilat, which is seeing a rebound to its vital tourism sector, also saw 11 new cases this past week, but it is worthwhile to note that eight of the new cases were contracted at the city's Club Hotel.
In Jerusalem, which made the news last week after clusters of new cases were identified in some of its public schools, the number of new corona cases has risen 452 to 528. However, the weekly attack rate stands at 1.27, lower than what researchers are reporting in Tel Aviv.
