Since the coronavirus epidemic began to gain traction in Israel in March of this year, 583,000 Israelis have been assigned to quarantine, the Health Ministry reported Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, there were 58,000 people in quarantine, 17,000 of whom were instructed to quarantine themselves as the result of contact tracing. The rest were ordered into quarantine following electronic surveillance by the Shin Bet security agency, or quarantined themselves after the locations of a confirmed carrier were publicized.
