Israel's national Holocaust memorial, Yad Vashem, may be adversely affected by the pandemic due to a major drop in donations, Israel Hayom has learned.

The administrators of the museum and memorial site said that more than 50% of its yearly budget relies on contributions from Israel and abroad, which have dropped significantly over the past several months.
According to the figures obtained by Israel Hayom, the level of self-generated revenue, including donations, has been 80% smaller than during an average year and the creation of new avenues through additional donors has been severely hampered by the limited travel options due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the restrictions on travel.
This will lead to major cutbacks in the museum's operation and to slashed compensation for various members of its staff.
"If the government doesn't help Yad Vashem like it has helped others in the private sector, the negative impact in 2021 would be unavoidable," officials said.
