As if COVID weren't enough of a problem, Israel's delegation to the Tokyo Olympics is also worried about possible cyberattacks after incidents at previous Olympic Games.

To protect the national delegation, the Wingate Institute has chosen Israeli cybersecurity company Cynet to take charge of protecting the delegation's electronic devices, some of which contain sensitive information.

The Elite Sports Department Administration at Wingate uses an information system to manage athletes' performance data, as well as information about their physical condition.  All this is stored in the cloud and accessible through the delegation's laptops and desktops.

To ensure that none of this information falls into the wrong hands, Cynet has developed a unique Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solution. The platform monitors and collects all data from the computers and the network, preventing breaches and detecting threats. Should such threats occur, the XDR solution handles them automatically or alerts the Cynet 24/7 monitoring and response team. The solution has been implemented in hundreds of companies worldwide.

"The Olympic games have always been a high priority target for hacker groups that want to disrupt the event in front of the millions of viewers around the world," explained Cynet founder and CEO Eyal Gruner.

"You can even say that these hackers are competing with one another to win gold medals of their own. Israel is under constant cyber threats and is especially sensitive to them during events such as this one. Events where Israel's enemies will do anything to disrupt our participation in the games. We at Cynet will do everything in our power to defend against these threats and attacks and do it with our own home turf technology. Our technology is the most advanced in the world, and these hackers will not know what hit them. Our biggest mission is for the Israeli delegation to enter these games without worrying about their cybersecurity at all," Gruner continued.

Michael Botnik, information security advisor at the Wingate Institute, added that "In recent years, the Elite Sports Department at the Wingate Institute has led a digital revolution by introducing a BI system to improve athlete achievement. The need to defend that system from cyber threats has arisen in parallel with the Institute's technological developments. That is why Cynet's solution was implemented. It provides both an advanced protection system and supports that system with a team of experts who are there to monitor and respond to the threats on a 24/7 basis."

According to Tomer Seker, head of strategy and innovation at the Wingate Elite Sports Department, "With that in mind, we made the decision to install Cynet's defense system in all of the delegation's personal devices, as well as any other device being used by the delegation. We would like to extend our gratitude to Cynet for their cooperation."
