The term "Black Unicorn" signifies a cybersecurity company that has the potential to reach a $1 billion dollar market value as determined by private or public investment. The awards showcase companies exhibiting this kind of potential in the cybersecurity marketplace.

Israel's NoName API Security scored a spot in CDM's Top 10 Black Unicorns. Co-founded by CEO Oz Golan and CTO Shay Levi, NoName provides a platform that offers real-time protection for APIs that detects vulnerabilities before they are exploited.

The list of finalists for the Top 10 Black Unicorn category featured four more Israeli-founded companies: Cynet, which offers threat detection and response; Pentera (formerly Pycsys), a platform for automated penetration testing; Avanan, which offers cloud-based email security; and Morphisec, a Beersheba-based breach protection platform that emerged from the Israel National Cybersecurity Center.

Three Israeli companies also cracked CDM"s "Top 10 Baby Black Unicorns" category: CyberProof, which provides automated cybersecurity solutions; Nanolock Security, whose solution intercepts and reports cyberattacks in real time; and XM Cyber, a provider of attack-centric exposure management.

Meawhile, railway cybersecurity provider Cervello was featured in the Top 10 Cybersecurity Startups for 2021 at the Black Unicorn Awards.

"We are thrilled to be named a Winner for the Top 10 Cybersecurity Startups for 2021. This accomplishment is another milestone in our mission of shaping the future of railway safety, emphasizing the fact that it's impossible to ensure safe and reliable railway transport without cybersecurity," said Roie Onn, co-founder and CEO of Cervello.
