Israel last week presented the United Nations with a resolution on agriculture technology for sustainable development, aimed at promoting global food security.

The resolution passed with a vote of approved 140-1 and 34 abstentions, with the Arab block wither abstaining or opposing it, leading Israel Ambassador Gilad Erdan to citizen the fact they prioritized antisemitism over such a crucial issue.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Syria was the sole opponent to the resolution during last week's vote, with a Syrian delegate to the meeting claiming that the Jewish state "lacked the moral authority" to present the resolution "given the atrocities it has committed against the Palestinian and Syrian people.
"If you have no shame, you can do whatever you want," he said.
Iranian representative at the meeting abstained, saying, "We don't recognize the so-called State of Israel, So we didn't vote against or in favor of this resolution."
The envoys of Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Sudan – Israel's partners in the Abraham Accords – abstained. Morocco was absent.
Qatar, on behalf of the Arab group, said that a similar text had already been submitted by China and the G77 – a UN coalition of 134 developing countries designed to promote its members' collective economic interests and create an enhanced joint negotiating capacity in the United Nations.
Its envoy slammed Israel for presenting the resolution over its "dubious conduct and attitude to try and hide its crimes against Palestinian agriculture and people," the report said.
Erdan thanked the countries that supported the resolution, which he said "will impact nations across the world, from the island states suffering from climate change to the African nations combating food and water security issues."
He criticized the envoys that abstained in the vote, saying, "There are still member states, such as Syria and Iran, that chose not to support it out of antisemitism and contempt.
"These member-states chose hate and petty politics over the betterment of humankind. Voting against a resolution simply because it was proposed by Israel was more important for them than voting for a brighter future for their citizens.
"But honestly, this is not surprising," he continued. "Why would Syria, a member state who uses chemical weapons on its people, care for the future of its population? Why would Iran vote in favor, while it prefers to sponsor global terror over providing the farmers of Isfahan with water for their crops?"
The Palestinian representative to the meeting slammed Erdan, saying he was the "representative of the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime." He further accused Israel of "falsifying history" by speaking of how it made the desert bloom.
"From the river to the sea, Palestine itself was not a desert before the Nakba," he said, using the Palestinian term for the "catastrophe" of Israel's inception in 1948.
