Two Israelis were light to moderately injured this Wednesday in a stabbing attack at the Tunnels Checkpoint near Jerusalem. The attacker was shot and neutralized. The two injured were evacuated to hospitals for further treatment.

According to initial reports, the attacker arrived at the scene riding an electric bicycle, pulled out a knife, and began stabbing the security forces when they began patting him down to ensure he was not armed. He was then shot. The 15-year-old attacker is from a village near the Tunnels Checkpoint.
The casualties were a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. The attack comes amid heightened tensions due to the ongoing Gaza war and the holy month of Ramadan, which Hamas has tried to use as an opportunity to provoke riots across Israel.
