The Boy has been renewed for a fifth season. Despite the long gap caused by the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes, most of the editing for Season 4 had been finished by November.

Season 4 of The Boys will premiere on June 13, 2024, with the first three episodes released simultaneously on Prime Video, followed by weekly episodes on Thursdays, concluding on July 18. The season will have 8 episodes in total.

Season 4 promises to be the craziest yet, with bloodier and more brutal content, high stakes, and tensions.

In season 3, Butcher tries to convince Ryan to leave Homelander, but Homelander interrupts and persuades Ryan to stay with him, causing Butcher's plan to backfire and bring Ryan closer to Homelander.

The season will explore the power dynamic between Homelander (Antony Starr) and Butcher, with Homelander using his influence to keep Ryan by his side and sadistically pointing out Butcher's limited time due to using Temp V. It will also delve into Victoria Neuman's transformation into a villain and an unhinged Homelander evolving into a more dangerous figure with increased public support.

Showrunner Eric Kripke has emphasized that Homelander is a villain, not a hero, despite some fans perceiving him as such, and the show is not subtle in portraying him as such. Homelander has killed many people and behaved un-heroically, and may become even more diabolical in Season 4.

The Boy has been renewed for a fifth season. Despite the long gap caused by the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes, most of the editing for Season 4 had been finished by November.

Kripke originally planned for The Boys to end after 5 seasons but admits he's bad at predicting show length. He's hesitant to speculate on the total number of seasons but is excited about the progress on season 5, which has already been renewed.

The Boys franchise is expanding with new spinoffs like Gen V and The Boys: Mexico, exploring themes like celebrity politics and late-stage capitalism, with Gen V being a coming-of-age story set in college.
