While less known in Israel, internationally AMC is synonymous with cinema. The chain, existing for 105 years, operates over 10,000 movie screens worldwide – 7,755 screens in 593 theaters across the US and over 2,800 screens in 353 theaters in Europe. It trades on NASDAQ with a value of $1.5 billion. But despite being founded by five Jewish brothers from the Dubinsky family, apparently, it lacks sympathy for Jews.

On Tuesday evening, Hillel Fuld, a local high-tech influencer, reported on his X account that his friend's mother-in-law ordered a movie ticket at the company's Miami theater, and along with the order confirmation, received an offer to donate "to help families in Gaza". The message stated that "Your donation to CARE helps provide essential relief and programs for families in need."

Worth noting that CARE is no small organization, focusing mostly on helping women and operating worldwide – almost. According to its report from a year ago, it received and spent almost a billion dollars from summer 2023 to summer 2024 and "reached" 121 countries – most through the organization's own activities, but about 40 through "partnerships and alliances", not through the organization directly. In Gaza, for example, it operates fully, including jeeps with its logo distributing aid. However, in the neighboring country, it doesn't deem it necessary to operate directly. Of course, donations for families in Israel whose homes were destroyed on October 7, or at any other time, are not requested there.
This is also what the initiative Stop Don't Shop, a consumer boycott branch of the Stop Antisemitism organization, decided to tweet, "Hey @AMCTheatres we must have missed your fundraiser for the Israeli victims of 10/7?"
Yesterday afternoon, the initiative updated that the campaign was removed – and not only that, but the e-commerce platform Rokt, through which the order and campaign were executed, issued a statement, "A fundraising campaign for the organization care.org was activated on our platform. The campaign had just gone live, and the moment we became aware of the concerns raised, we removed the campaign immediately. We have people who review all content uploaded to our platform, and this one slipped past them. The last thing we want is to create friction around this sensitive issue."
