The suspect in the shooting of conservative activist and pro-Israel supporter Charlie Kirk is Tyler Robinson, 22, according to two sources familiar with the investigation. Robinson comes from a Mormon family. His parents, Matt and Amber, are registered Republican voters. On Halloween in 2017, he dressed up in a Trump-themed costume.

Robinson is now being questioned by law enforcement in connection with the shooting of Kirk. He was arrested in St. George, Utah, near Zion National Park, about 250 miles (400 kilometers) southwest of the campus where Kirk was killed, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the ongoing investigation.

US President Donald Trump said earlier that he hopes the suspect receives the death penalty if found guilty. He also explained how investigators located Robinson - with the help of a pastor, a senior official in the US Marshals Service, and the suspect's father.
Robinson's father is a pastor with ties to law enforcement, who turned to a close friend serving as a senior US marshal after learning of his son's actions.
