A famous former model, who became a key suspect in a series of hotel room break-ins in Tel Aviv, was remanded on Wednesday for three days. At the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court hearing, a complex picture of the night's events emerged, with the suspect allegedly fleeing on an electric scooter.

The first incident reportedly took place at a hotel on Bograshov Street, and the second on 88 Hayarkon Street, where the suspect is suspected of moving quickly from one break-in to another.

In the second incident, the model allegedly opened the door to a hotel room, saw people sleeping inside, and fled immediately. "There is no requirement for evidence of a break-in in burglary offenses," the police officer explained when asked about the absence of signs of forced entry.

The model's attorney argued, "In both incidents, there are no complainants stated to the police. One event was on November 7, two weeks have passed, and no one has filed a complaint. There are no security cameras, no fingerprints, and no identification of the suspect by the complainants."

Police claimed, "The suspect appears to be homeless, did not provide an address, and cannot say where he lives. At the time of his arrest, he was caught with expensive property and had no explanation for it." The officer added that he "has a lengthy and serious prior record of property offenses" and is under a suspended sentence. The police representative stressed the seriousness: "The great danger stems from the fact that the suspect broke into rooms while people were present. The event could have easily escalated and ended differently."

Ultimately, the court extended the model's remand, found reasonable suspicion that he committed the offenses attributed to him, and determined that his actions posed a risk.

One man was apprehended at Charles de Gaulle Airport attempting to board a flight to Algeria, while the second was preparing to depart for Mali. The "seasoned burglars" are now in custody as investigators continue searching for two additional suspects in the seven-minute heist that netted eight pieces of Napoleonic crown jewels.

Authorities in France have detained two men in connection with the Louvre Museum robbery that resulted in the theft of eight priceless crown jewels. DNA traces discovered at the museum enabled investigators to identify the suspects, both aged in their 30s and originating from Seine-Saint-Denis, a Paris suburb, The Telegraph reported. The stolen jewelry remains unrecovered.

Authorities apprehended one suspect Saturday night at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport as he attempted to board an outbound flight in the aftermath of last week's heist, which lasted seven minutes. Le Parisien reported the suspect was intercepted while trying to board an Algeria-bound flight, while the second man was making preparations to depart for Mali, according to Le Figaro.

The men are believed to be members of the masked burglar gang that penetrated the Louvre museum last Sunday before making off with jewellery valued at £76 million. Already familiar to law enforcement, the suspects were characterized as "seasoned burglars" by police, The Telegraph reported. The Banditry Repression Brigade in Paris's 17th arrondissement now holds them in custody for interrogation.

Investigators continue pursuing the remaining two suspects while examining whether a conventional crime organization or an art trafficking network orchestrated the theft, The Telegraph reported.

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau criticized the initial reports in a letter to Le Figaro, which disseminated confidential information about the apprehensions, according to The Telegraph. "I deeply deplore the hasty disclosure of this information by informed persons, without consideration for the investigation. This revelation can only harm the investigative efforts of the hundred or so investigators involved in the search for both the stolen jewels and all the criminals. It is too early to provide any details."

However, France's interior minister expressed his "warmest congratulations" to the investigators on X regarding the recent developments, stating they had been working tirelessly on the case, The Telegraph reported.

Law enforcement successfully retrieved 150 DNA samples from the array of items the group abandoned, including a scooter helmet, a blowtorch, a walkie-talkie, a yellow vest, and a blanket, The Telegraph reported. "More than 150 samples of DNA, papillary and other traces were taken," Beccuau stated Friday, according to The Telegraph. "The analyses require time limits, even if they are a priority for the labs. We are expecting feedback in the coming days, which may be able to provide us with leads, especially if the perpetrators were on file."

Beccuau additionally verified that law enforcement utilized CCTV to track the gang's movements on two Yamaha TMax scooters, stating that video surveillance from public and private cameras "made it possible to follow their route in Paris and in neighbouring departments," The Telegraph reported.

Sunday saw Nuñez dismiss a proposal to establish a police station within the Louvre following requests from the museum's director, The Telegraph reported. "I'm against it. If we start with the Louvre, we'll put them everywhere," Nuñez stated in an interview with La Tribune Dimanche, a weekly newspaper, The Telegraph reported. "The current police station is right next to the Louvre. As soon as there was an alert, the police were there within three minutes." A police station located in the museum "would not have changed anything," Nuñez asserted, emphasizing that the tourist-saturated area represents the most heavily policed section of Paris, The Telegraph reported.

On Friday, a portion of the museum's remaining jewelry collection was transferred to the Bank of France, the national central bank of France, under police escort, The Telegraph reported. The collection now resides in a vault buried 85 feet (26 meters) underground, which additionally houses France's gold reserves and other national treasures, including Leonardo da Vinci's Notebooks valued at an estimated €600 million ($680 million), Le Figaro noted, according to The Telegraph.

New details surfaced in a murder case involving a model, drug use, and a stabbing incident in Petah Tikva. The probe started a week and a half ago when authorities discovered a man's body near a building where the model lives. The model had previously testified as a witness against a modeling agent in a sex offenses case.

Authorities transported the body to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute with preliminary evaluations indicating suicide. Officials confirmed the man's identity at the institute as the son of a life prisoner convicted of murdering his wife. An additional finding at the institute showed stab marks on the man's body. Based on this discovery, investigators launched a criminal inquiry under a publication ban. Authorities arrested the model and three men during the probe.

The probe shows the model invited three men to her apartment where they used drugs. The victim came to the apartment afterward. Based on the suspicion, an argument broke out in the apartment during which the victim was stabbed, fell from the apartment window onto a fence and died. During questioning, the model and the men maintained the man jumped from the window and died that way, but investigators suspect he was pushed or fell after being stabbed. Authorities extended the arrests of the model and the men until Thursday, when investigators will seek their arraignment.

Sources close to the model stated, "She is not connected to the case. She was in the apartment but didn't do anything. She is in total shock from the arrest." Attorney Shay Roda, representing one of the men, noted, "My client denies the suspicions attributed to him, and claims that although he was in the apartment at the time of the murder, he was not involved in the murder itself."

DNA evidence from abandoned protective equipment now offers investigators potential leads in identifying the gang behind Sunday's four-minute Louvre heist that netted jewelry worth 88 million euros ($102.63 million), Paris prosecutors told NBC News Thursday. Uncertainty persists whether the DNA traces belong to suspects who used power tools to shatter display cases, threatened guards, and escaped on scooters – dropping Empress Eugénie's crown during their flight – as roughly 100 investigators race to locate them before the jewelry faces potential melting for sale.

New footage, confirmed by prosecutors to NBC News, reveals two men – one in a yellow vest with a black face covering, another in all black with a motorbike helmet – rapidly descending the museum's exterior on a basket lift mounted on a truck. Public-filmed video captures walkie-talkie audio stating in French: "Looks like the individuals are on scooters. They are leaving, they are leaving." The museum reopened on Wednesday, though the Apollon Gallery, from which jewelry was stolen, remains closed, NBC News reported.

Police access to approximately 4,500 cameras, "in addition to some 38,000 interconnected cameras," provides vast footage for analysis, French capital officials announced Thursday. Yet Louvre director Laurence des Cars admitted Wednesday to senators that surveillance proved insufficient, according to NBC News.

"We did not detect the thieves' arrival early enough," Des Cars stated to Reuters, citing inadequate perimeter-monitoring cameras. Her resignation offer was rejected by Culture Minister Rachida Dati, she revealed, as the investigation continues with authorities pursuing every available lead from biological samples to extensive video documentation, NBC News learned.

Masked operatives executed a brazen robbery at Paris' Louvre Museum on Sunday morning, deploying chainsaws and mechanized equipment to steal nine pieces of historic French crown jewelry, officials confirmed.

The gang accessed the institution at 9:30 a.m. by deploying a cherry picker-style ladder mounted on a truck and shattering windows with small chainsaws before entering the Galerie d'Apollon, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez reported, The Independent stated. Three to four thieves fled on a scooter with jewelry pieces from Napoleon and Empress Marie-Louise after a seven-minute heist, though one crown was recovered at the scene, Culture Minister Rachida Dati informed TF1, according to The Independent.

Minister Nuñez described it as a "major robbery" on France Inter radio, noting "individuals entered from outside with a cherry picker" and stole "priceless jewellery" from what was "clearly a team that had been scouting" the building, Le Parisien reported, according to The Independent. The ministry characterized the stolen objects as items of "inestimable" historical significance while compiling their precise valuation.

The Parisian Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into suspected "organized theft and criminal conspiracy to commit a crime," with support from an investigative service combating illegal trafficking of cultural goods, The Independent noted. "The damage is currently being assessed," officials stated. "Investigations are ongoing."

Public members were evacuated from the Louvre as French police sealed access to the museum, including one major riverbank road, the BBC reported, according to The Independent. The institution announced it would remain closed Sunday due to "exceptional reasons," with videos surfacing showing tourists being guided from the museum and surrounding courtyards.

The Galerie d'Apollon houses remaining French Crown Jewels beneath a ceiling painted by King Louis XIV's court artist, while the Louvre itself contains iconic works including Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and draws millions of visitors annually, The Independent reported.

"They broke a window and went towards several display cases where they stole jewellery," Nunez stated, according to Sky News. "These are jewels that have genuine heritage value and are, in fact, priceless."

The heist lasted seven minutes, Nunez told France Inter radio, while the interior ministry confirmed the criminals escaped on two motorbikes, Sky News reported. Authorities stated no injuries occurred during the incident.

The perpetrators demonstrated thorough preparation and had previously surveyed the location, Nunez said, explaining they severed window panes "with a disc cutter" before departing "on a TMAX," referring to a Yamaha maxi-scooter model, Sky News reported.

Forensic examination is currently in progress and an itemized inventory of the stolen objects is being assembled following the intrusion, which occurred between 9:30 and 9:40 a.m. local time (8:30-8:40 a.m. UK time), the French government stated, according to Sky News.

The perpetrators allegedly fled with nine jewellery pieces including a necklace, a brooch and a tiara from the Napoleon and French Sovereigns display cases, Le Parisien reported, according to Sky News.

Two suspects operated inside while a third remained outside, Le Parisien stated, according to Sky News. One of the taken gems, thought to be Empress Eugenie's crown, was subsequently discovered broken outside the museum, the newspaper reported, according to Sky News.

Social media users shared images and videos from inside and outside the structure, with one displaying people exiting in what the user characterized as "total panic," according to Sky News.

One individual on X who claimed to be present described a chaotic scene of police "running" near the museum's iconic pyramid "and trying to enter... from glass side doors but they were locked and they could not enter," according to Sky News.

A 45-year-old Tel Sheva resident was arrested this week after stealing four containers containing 104 tons of peanuts, valued at over 2 million shekels ($564,000), from a Beer Sheba factory during Operation Rising Lion. Upon completion of the investigation conducted by the Central Unit of the Southern District, an indictment and request for detention until the end of proceedings were filed against him.

The theft was carried out on June 15, during the height of the campaign against Iran in Operation Rising Lion. The suspect, along with partners whose identities are not yet known, planned the break-in in advance and prepared it meticulously – he spray-painted the security cameras, mapped the goods, and conducted surveillance in order to learn the terrain, all while using a vehicle whose identity was falsified in advance, including the license plates.

Stolen peanuts

During the break-in, the suspect and his partners welded chains to the vehicle entrance gate, uprooted iron gates, and broke the building walls. They loaded four containers full of peanuts onto a truck and transferred them to Tel Sheva, a location near the suspect's home.

Central Unit forces began investigating immediately upon receiving the report of the break-in and carried out advanced and rapid investigative operations. Already on the day of the incident, investigators succeeded in locating the suspect's whereabouts and arresting him at his home, where the stolen goods were found.

Central Unit officers successfully seized the goods and returned to their owners about half of the quantity that could be traded and was not damaged in the theft. The operation is being carried out as part of the Southern District Police's increased enforcement activity against property crimes.

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested by the government Tuesday after it allegedly received an International Criminal Court warrant accusing him of crimes against humanity, CNN reported. The 79-year-old was taken into custody amid chaotic scenes at Manila's main airport after returning to the Philippines from Hong Kong.

Interpol's Manila office had received "the official copy of the arrest warrant from the ICC" on Tuesday morning. "Upon his arrival, the Prosecutor General filed an ICC notification for an arrest warrant against the former president for crimes against humanity," the Presidential Communications Office stated, adding that Duterte is currently in custody of authorities.

The ICC has investigated Duterte over his brutal anti-drugs crackdown during his time in office that killed more than 6,000 people based on police data, though independent monitors believe the number could be much higher, CNN reported. The bloodshed prompted the ICC investigation, a monthslong House of Representatives inquiry, and a separate Senate inquiry led by the cousin of the current President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr.

Duterte questioned the basis for his detention in a video posted online by his daughter. "What is the law and what is the crime that I committed?" he asked. The former president has repeatedly denied extrajudicial killings of alleged drug suspects, although he also openly admitted to ordering police to shoot suspects who resist arrest.

The Philippines withdrew from the ICC under Duterte's administration, but under the court's withdrawal mechanism, it retains jurisdiction over crimes committed during a state's membership period – in this case, between 2016 and 2019, when the Philippines' pullout became official.

His former spokesperson Harry Roque contested the legality of the detention. "The warrant of arrest has no basis because it was issued at a time when we are no longer a member of the ICC," Roque said in a livestream on Facebook. "What is happening right now is unlawful detention. We have not seen the warrant of arrest from the police or Interpol."

Presidential communications undersecretary Claire Castro told reporters on Monday that "Our law enforcers are ready to follow what law dictates, if the warrant of arrest needs to be served because of a request from Interpol," according to Reuters.

Duterte had apparently anticipated his arrest. "From my own news, I have a warrant from the ICC or something," he told supporters in Hong Kong on Sunday. "What did I do wrong? I did everything that I could in my time, so there is a little bit of quiet and peace for the lives of the Filipinos."

Rights groups praised the development. Duterte's detention "is a critical step for accountability in the Philippines," said Bryony Lau, deputy Asia director at Human Rights Watch. "His arrest could bring victims and their families closer to justice and sends the clear message that no one is above the law."

Before becoming president, Duterte established his reputation as mayor of Davao City over two decades, advocating a hardline approach against criminals. He claimed to have drastically reduced the city's previously high rates of violent crime, but his tenure was also marked by allegations of connections to extrajudicial killings by vigilante groups.

During his 2016 presidential campaign, he told a crowd to "forget the laws of human rights" and warned drug pushers that as president, he would kill them just as he claimed to have done as mayor. After taking office, he maintained this unfiltered rhetorical style.

Despite frail health and the looming threat of an ICC arrest warrant, Duterte registered in October to run for mayor of his southern home city of Davao. The move was widely interpreted as an attempt to strengthen his scandal-hit political dynasty amid a bitter falling out between his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, and President Marcos Jr.

The US Treasury Department imposed a fresh round of economic sanctions Wednesday on key Houthi officials, exposing an extensive network of weapons deals, financial transfers, and human trafficking operations between the Yemen-based terrorist organization and Russia. Documents released alongside the sanctions detail how Houthi leaders made multiple trips to Moscow, coordinated attacks to avoid Russian vessels, and established a mercenary pipeline sending Yemeni citizens to fight in Ukraine in exchange for cash and military support.

According to the Treasury Department, the sanctions target Houthi officials who smuggled military equipment and weapons systems to areas under their control in the Arab country. These individuals also conducted negotiations to purchase weapons and military equipment for the organization from Russia. Against this background, the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the Treasury Department added another activist associated with the Houthis to the list, along with his company, which recruited Yemeni citizens to fight for Russia in Ukraine and transferred funds to support the organization.

As part of efforts to generate revenue, the Yemeni terrorist organization recruited Yemeni citizens to fight in Ukraine for Russia – sometimes through deception. One of the key figures was a senior Houthi commander known as al-Jabari, who managed a sort of manpower company. Through this company, he transferred Yemeni citizens to Russian military units in exchange for cash, creating a new source of income for the organization.

Senior Houthi official Mohammad Ali al-Houthi responded last night to the US State Department's decision to designate Ansar Allah (the Houthis) as a terrorist organization: "Bringing supplies into Gaza is higher on our list of priorities than the American decision, which is illegal," he claimed. "Preventing supplies to Gaza and sabotaging peace agreements is American terrorism, contrary to our support for Gaza through maritime operations."

The Office of Foreign Assets Control listed the names of senior Houthi officials who will face sanctions. The first figure is Mohammad Abd al-Salam. He is the organization's spokesman in the Sultanate of Oman, who played a key role in managing the Houthis' internal and external funding network. Al-Salam also facilitated weapons deals and support from Russia. As part of this effort, he flew to Moscow to meet with Russian Foreign Ministry officials and coordinate with Russian officers to organize additional Houthi delegations in the country. Another senior figure who will face American sanctions is Ashaq Abd al-Malik al-Marwani. He is an assistant to Abd al-Salam.

The US also mentioned Mahdi Mohammad Hussein al-Mashat – head of the Supreme Political Council of the Houthis in Yemen. As head of the council, he worked to increase cooperation between the Houthis and Russian President Vladimir Putin. It should be noted that he is a close associate of Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi and acts as his representative.

The American report also mentions Mohammad Ali al-Houthi. The senior organization member serves on the Supreme Council and in this capacity managed contacts with official representatives from Russia and China. The goal was to ensure that Houthi attacks in the Red Sea would not harm Russian or Chinese vessels. At one point, he also planned to fly to Russia with intelligence operatives to discuss Russian assistance to the organization.

Another senior official who will be subject to sanctions is Ali Mohammad Saleh al-Hadi. He is the head of the Sanaa Chamber of Commerce, which is controlled by the Houthis. In this role, he became a central figure transferring funding to the organization for weapons purchases. As part of this effort, he flew to Russia several times to secure defense equipment for the organization and investments in industries controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.

Two additional senior officials mentioned are Abdul-Malik al-Ghari and Khaled Hussein Jaber. The former participated in Houthi delegations to Russia and China. The latter participated in meetings with Russian Foreign Ministry officials and managed contacts regarding illegal weapons deals.

The sanctions mean that any property or interests of these individuals located in the US or under US control will be blocked. The sanctions also generally prohibit the US or people in the US from being involved in transactions with these individuals.

After the decision was handed down, Itzkovich said, "I am sorry for what I did. If my husband hadn't left me after I stabbed a knife into my genitals, this wouldn't have happened. I drank nail polish that day. I was attacked by aliens. I am sorry for my actions."

The judge described the incident as shocking and nearly incomprehensible. He implied that the murder could have been prevented over the years, noting that the defendant's behavior had exhibited warning signs. For example, he said, "She went up to the roof of a building, did not stop her young son from playing with bleach, and performed a sexual act in his presence." He added, "The defendant was ill, and therefore we have decided to acquit her. We expect her to be hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital for the maximum period of 25 years."

The decision followed the findings of a panel of three expert psychiatrists who determined that Itzkovich was not responsible for her actions at the time of the murder. During the most recent hearing, a representative of the State Attorney's Office said they accepted the psychiatric evaluation and requested that she be acquitted due to insanity and committed to a psychiatric facility for 25 years.

Judge Yaron Levy harshly criticized the State Attorney's Office. "You read the psychiatric report and see there was a background," he said, noting that the psychotic episode began three days before the incident. Judge Levy questioned how the prosecution had failed to address an incident that took place six years earlier, when Itzkovich climbed onto a rooftop with her infant son, and asked what had been done since then.

The judge even pressed the prosecutor, asking whether she believed the incident could have been prevented—a question that went unanswered. During the hearing, Judge Levy read aloud the indictment. Itzkovich confessed to the acts, replying "true" to the description of how she stabbed her son Liam and the family dog.

UnitedHealthcare Chief Executive Officer Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning in what authorities believe was a targeted attack, according to a person familiar with the matter, report CNBC.

Thompson, 50, who led the nation's largest private health insurer, was shot in front of 1335 Avenue of the Americas. Emergency medical services rushed him to Mount Sinai West Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).

Thompson's wife, Paulette Thompson, said that her husband had received threats related to insurance coverage issues, though she was not aware of specific details. Despite these threats, she said he maintained his regular travel schedule. "I can't really give a thoughtful response right now," she said. "I just found this out and I'm trying to console my children."

The suspect, described as a white male, allegedly used a firearm with a silencer and was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black sneakers with white trim, and a gray backpack. NYPD is offering up to $10,000 reward to anyone who can give meaningful information regarding the homicide.

The shooting occurred just hours before UnitedHealth Group's scheduled investor day at the Hilton, which was subsequently canceled. Chief Executive Officer Andrew Witty addressed the situation briefly before ending the event.

"I'm afraid that we – some of you may know we're dealing with very serious medical situation with one of our team members," Witty said during the investor day. "And as a result, I'm afraid we're going to have to bring to a close the event today, which I'm sure you'll understand."

Thompson, a resident of Maple Grove, Minnesota, had worked at UnitedHealth for over 20 years, joining in April 2004 after nearly seven years at PwC. He became CEO of UnitedHealthcare in April 2021 after leading the insurance unit's government programs. A graduate of the University of Iowa, where he was valedictorian, Thompson is survived by his wife and two children.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the killing "horrifying news and a terrible loss for the business and health care community" in a post on X.

UnitedHealth Group, with its roughly $563 billion market cap, is the largest healthcare conglomerate in the United States by revenue. UnitedHealthcare, under Thompson's leadership, generated more than $281 billion in revenue last year, representing over two-thirds of UnitedHealth Group's annual revenue for 2023.

The company is currently dealing with the aftermath of a February ransomware attack on its subsidiary, Change Healthcare, which compromised the protected health information of at least 100 million people.
