After film director Dan Farah, who made "The Age of Disclosure," claimed that US President Donald Trump would soon announce the existence of aliens, the internet was filled with discussions on the subject – in alien enthusiast communities, on YouTube, on social networks, and in podcasts that addressed this speculation.

Israeli illusionist Uri Geller appeared on Sharon Gal's i24NEWS program to discuss the subject and share his experiences. According to him, both the US president and Netanyahu know that aliens indeed exist. "Trump has known there are aliens on Earth for decades already," Geller said.

He added and described his personal experiences, saying, "A German Nazi scientist took me to a NASA base, here are the photos, there are people who don't believe I met Dr. Wernher von Braun." Geller showed the photo to the camera, adding, "Next to me stood astronaut Edgar Mitchell, who was on the moon, and Dr. von Braun is showing me part of a UFO, and we're alone. We enter a refrigerator, and I'm not an idiot and not hypnotized, with my own eyes I see bodies of aliens lying in glass tubes, frozen, some wounded."

Gal interrupted him, saying, "People watch this at home and raise an eyebrow." Geller responded, "I don't care, Donald Trump knows this, Bibi knows about it, there are people connected to the entire subject of aliens." Geller continued and described how the aliens looked, saying, "Like we're used to seeing alien bodies, with big eyes. I was in shock."

The elaborate scheme unraveled when registry office workers grew suspicious during an ID renewal attempt.

A bizarre and horrifying case emerged in Italy. Graziella Dall'Olio died about five years ago, but her son decided to "replace" her to claim her pension. The son dressed and applied makeup like his mother to bypass the registry office in Borgo Virgilio, in the province of Mantua.

For years, the scheme worked, and the pension money flowed into the greedy son's pocket, but the fraudster's carelessness led to his exposure. The images reveal why. The man, a resident of the city where the transfer was carried out, is now under investigation for fraud, impersonation, and concealment of a body.

The fraud was exposed after the son attempted to renew his mother's expired identity card. Several details trapped the son and raised authorities' suspicions: the thick neck, the skin on his hands, and, finally, the strange voice with which he spoke to the clerks. A registry office employee examining the case was not convinced. Then, Borgo Virgilio police noticed the "woman," supposedly elderly, who had no driver's license, driving a vehicle.

The photos submitted to the registry office for ID renewal showed features matching those on the registered face in the old documents, but the final result was questionable, to put it mildly. The desk clerk reported the anomaly to her superiors for further investigation. The comparison to photos of the woman from ten years earlier definitively activated the local police operation, which, after searching the 57-year-old's home, found the mummified body of the elderly woman leaning against the wall in the living room.

The man, a 56-year-old son, is accused of concealing his 85-year-old mother's death for a long time, and keeping her body at his home so he could continue receiving his pension, which included his father's allowance, a doctor who died years ago.

A Hamilton, Ontario man commandeered a public transit bus Tuesday night with roughly 10 passengers aboard, piloting the articulated vehicle along its designated route without causing damage yet meticulously denying boarding to someone carrying an expired pass, authorities confirmed to CBC. Police spokesperson Trevor McKenna described the situation as both humorous and severe, stating "It's comical but at the same time it's serious. We're thankful nobody was hurt," according to CBC.

The incident began when the legitimate operator exited at a terminal for a break, after which an individual boarded and departed with the vehicle, conducting multiple stops for passenger entry and exit, Wednesday's police statement indicated per CBC. Initial passenger confusion about the unauthorized driver shifted to providing navigational assistance when incorrect turns occurred, McKenna told CBC.

Authorities tracked the transit vehicle while staying "mindful of the potential risk to public safety," coordinating with Hamilton Street Railway to monitor GPS positioning and keeping sirens deactivated throughout, CBC reported. McKenna explained officers aimed to avoid alarming the driver, stating "We didn't want to spook him" and "We didn't want to make this a tragedy."

Police successfully stopped the bus after roughly 15 minutes and apprehended the unnamed individual without incident or injuries, CBC noted. The suspect, who has no permanent residence, faces multiple charges including theft exceeding $5,000 (roughly $3,540), obstructing officers and prohibited operation, with court proceedings scheduled to address all allegations, according to the police statement reported by CBC.

Akram Aslami, a milk tanker driver from Denizli province in southwestern Turkey, drove on a mountain road after loading milk at a local cooperative and was on his way to unload the valuable cargo. At one of the road's curves, he noticed thick smoke and flames consuming the nearby brush, but instead of continuing his journey, he decided to take action. Aslami got out of the truck, activated the milk pump in reverse, and began spraying jets of milk toward the flames. Passersby who arrived helped the brave driver direct the stream and even began firefighting efforts around him using clothes and water bottles. A short video, documented by one of the passersby, captured the truck driver's heroism as he faced the flames while he and several other people worked to extinguish the fire using the valuable cargo he had transported.

"After about half an hour, the police and firefighters arrived and replaced me. I asked if they needed me for anything else, and they said there was no need," the truck driver told one of the Turkish media outlets after the incident. Aslami's actions helped stop the fire's spread at a critical stage, which allowed firefighting forces to gain control of the flames. "I didn't do anything unusual, that's how they taught me to behave," Aslami said in an interview.

Yoga – an ancient practice that has always combined breathing, movement, and meditation – is receiving a special upgrade recently. After years of yoga with dogs, cats, goats, and even pigs, now it's the chickens' turn. It might sound like a joke, but this yoga, known in the US as Clucksana (cluck is the sound chickens make), represents a genuine and peaceful attempt to integrate a new possibility for finding calm and connection to nature in our crazy and stressful daily routine.

Understanding the chicken yoga experience

First, let's clarify and reassure that classes are not conducted in chicken coops. Sessions take place in pleasant environments, sometimes in open spaces or rural studios with small groups of silky chickens – a special breed that's small and soft, often resembling chicks, characterized by quiet and friendly temperaments.

Participants begin with gentle "meet and greet" sessions, holding small cups containing seeds while inviting chickens to approach and feel comfortable nearby, sometimes even allowing them to settle on arms or knees (though never on heads, something instructors emphasize strongly). All chickens wear tiny diapers to prevent "accidents" and unnecessary mess.

Following brief introductions, participants transition into familiar yoga practice – breathing exercises, stretching, and entering various poses while chickens move freely around the space. When chickens choose to sit beside participants, these moments create unique, intimate connections that enhance enjoyment and relaxation. Their clucking and cooing presence generates feelings of non-judgmental community, where everyone can simply exist without explanations or judgments. This fusion between traditional body movement and natural presence fills classes with distinctive feelings of lightness and release.

Clucksana (Screenshot: TikTok)

The science behind the benefits

Yoga has been proven through numerous studies to provide significant benefits – improving flexibility, balance, and posture, reducing blood pressure in hypertensive groups, lowering blood sugar levels, contributing to pain relief, and naturally reducing stress and anxiety.

Adding chickens to practice, one of the most intriguing characteristics of this phenomenon, amplifies these effects. Research in human-animal interaction fields indicates that animal presence reduces stress hormones like cortisol, enhances serotonin secretion ("the happiness hormone"), decreases loneliness, and strengthens community belonging. Chickens serve special roles – they are social animals with basic intelligence who create unique atmospheres that remain quiet yet vibrant with life. Currently, hundreds of classes operate throughout the US and Britain with increasing demand, particularly among those seeking to diversify classical yoga worlds and add emotional dimensions that connect to nature.

Suitability and precautions

Despite the beauty of these connections, practicing with chickens is not appropriate for everyone. People with sensitivities, allergies, or bird phobias definitely cannot benefit and may suffer during sessions.

Additionally, it's important to remember these are living animals, and exposure and interaction require patience and sensitivity. Some experts note that chickens, being empathetic creatures, may be harmed by intense interactions with stressed or sad people, as studies conducted in France have demonstrated. Therefore, maintaining chicken welfare presents constant challenges accompanying this phenomenon, with diaper usage intended for hygiene maintenance raising questions about animal welfare and whether human comfort is truly prioritized over bird well-being.

Beyond animal welfare concerns, chicken yoga remains far from replacing deep traditional yoga or professional psychological treatments and is more suitable as an integrative experience aimed primarily at instilling calm and innovation.

The bottom line is, if you're seeking new and slightly unconventional ways to connect with your body and nature, combining meditation with movement and adding touches of life (literally) to yoga atmospheres, this represents one trend worth understanding – the question remains who will embrace this challenge here in Israel.

A highly unusual safety mishap occurred near the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, when a portable toilet was loaded onto a truck, with an IDF officer still inside.

The incident took place within the IDF's 646th Reserve Brigade. According to the IDF internal investigation, the mishap occurred during the process of replacing portable toilets when a platform was hoisted onto a truck. The officer in question, a platoon commander, was inside the unit at the time and reportedly failed to notice or react to the commotion outside.

The inquiry concluded that the officer's lack of attentiveness was a contributing factor in the incident.

One of the main takeaways from the investigation was clear: "Before loading, it must be ensured that no person is inside any of the toilet units."

In a peculiar turn of events in Oslo, Norway, police broke into a parked vehicle to rescue what they believed was a person in distress, only to discover a strikingly lifelike wax figure of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The sculpture, the work of controversial Norwegian artist Morten Viskum, was scheduled for display at an upcoming art fair. Viskum had placed his work in the car ahead of the event. The police action was prompted by a concerned local resident who reported seeing what appeared to be a lifeless body inside the vehicle.

NRK, a Norwegian news outlet, reports that Viskum has built a reputation for his provocative artistic endeavors, including previous wax sculptures of contentious world figures. His past works have featured likenesses of Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump. Viskum's notoriety extends beyond sculpture; he once distributed jars of olives containing rats to 20 supermarkets across Norway's five largest urban centers. In another controversial project, he used a hand severed from a cadaver as a paintbrush, creating a series entitled "The Hand That Never Stopped Painting."

Norway has long been known for its critical stance on Israeli policies, and in the wake of the October 7 attack, criticism of Israel within Norwegian artistic circles has intensified, with some exhibits veering into territory that has been labeled antisemitic. Commenting on the incident, On Alpeleg, a former Israeli resident of Norway, posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Yet another instance of a Norwegian 'artist' pushing boundaries. Following other 'artists' who superimposed a keffiyeh on Anne Frank's portrait and depicted Netanyahu as Hitler, this Norwegian 'artist' has now produced a wax effigy of Benjamin Netanyahu."

A neurosurgeon investigating a woman's mystery symptoms in an Australian hospital says she plucked a wriggling worm from the patient's brain.

Surgeon Hari Priya Bandi was performing a biopsy through a hole in the 64-year-old patient's skull at Canberra Hospital last year when she used forceps to pull out the parasite, which measured 8 centimeters, or 3 inches.

"I just thought: 'What is that? It doesn't make any sense. But it's alive and moving,'" Bandi was quoted Tuesday in The Canberra Times newspaper. "It continued to move with vigor. We all felt a bit sick."

The creature was the larva of an Australian native roundworm not previously known to be a human parasite, named Ophidascaris robertsi. The worms are commonly found in carpet pythons.

Bandi and Canberra infectious diseases physician Sanjaya Senanayake are authors of an article about the extraordinary medical case published in the latest edition of the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases. Senanayake said he was on duty at the hospital in June last year when the worm was found.

"I got a call saying: 'We've got a patient with an infection problem. We've just removed a live worm from this patient's brain,'" Senanayake said.

The woman had been admitted to the hospital after experiencing forgetfulness and worsening depression over three months. Scans showed changes in her brain. A year earlier, she had been admitted to her local hospital in southeast New South Wales state with symptoms including abdominal pain, diarrhea, a dry cough and night sweats.

Senanayake said the brain biopsy was expected to reveal a cancer or an abscess.

"This patient had been treated ... for what was a mystery illness that we thought ultimately was a immunological condition because we hadn't been able to find a parasite before and then out of nowhere, this big lump appeared in the frontal part of her brain," Senanayake said. "Suddenly, with her (Bandi's) forceps, she's picking up this thing that's wriggling. She and everyone in that operating theater were absolutely stunned."

Bandi said her patient regained conscious after the worm was extracted without any negative consequences. "She was so grateful to have an answer for what had been causing her trouble for so very long," she said.

Six months after the worm was removed, the patient's neuropsychiatric symptoms had improved but persisted, the journal article said.

The patient had been sent home soon after the surgery with antiparasitic drugs and had not returned to hospital since, Senanayake said. "She's done OK, but obviously because this is a new infection, we're keeping a close eye on her," Senanayake told Ten Network television.

The worms' eggs are commonly shed in snake droppings which contaminate grass eaten by small mammals. The life cycle continues as other snakes eat the mammals. The woman lives near a carpet python habitat and forages for native vegetation called warrigal greens to cook. While she had no direct contact with snakes, scientists hypothesize that she consumed the eggs from the vegetation or her contaminated hands.

Over half a century, Nissim Kahlon has transformed a tiny cave on a Mediterranean beach into an elaborate underground labyrinth filled with chiseled tunnels, detailed mosaic floors and a network of staircases and chambers.

He lives in the one-of-a-kind artistic creation, which is a popular destination for local curiosity seekers, and Kahlon, 77, is quick to welcome visitors into his subterranean home.

Now, Israel's government wants him out. Fifty years after Kahlon moved into the home, the Environmental Protection Ministry has served him an eviction notice, saying the structure is illegal and threatens the coastline.

"Instead of encouraging me, they're denigrating me," Kahlon said, sitting in his mosaic-tiled living room, rolling a cigarette. The sun glimmered on the sea outside his west-facing windows.

Kahlon was living in a tent along the Herzliya beach north of Tel Aviv in 1973 when he says he began scratching into the sandstone cliffs and moved into a cave he carved.

Over time, his simple hole in the wall turned into a real-life sandcastle on steroids, filled with recycled wood, metal, ceramic and stone. Nearly every surface of his main quarters is covered in elaborate mosaics, made from discarded tiles of every color that he collected from dumpsters in Tel Aviv over the years. Recycled glass bottles serve as decoration and insulation on exterior walls.

Every wall in the labyrinthine complex is curved, and stairways bend and branch through the bedrock to chambers of different design and purpose. The complex has plumbing, a phone line and electric lighting in its many rooms, and Kahlon insists his construction is sturdy.

Nissim Kahlon rest in his bed in his home chiseled out of the sandstone cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean sea in Herzliya, Israel, June 28, 2023 (AP/Ariel Schalit)

"From the stones I quarry I make a cast and build a wall. There's no waste here, only material, that's the logic," he said. "Everything is useful, there's no trash."

Kahlon said he received a demolition order back in 1974 that was never carried out. Since then, he says has never heard any opposition from the authorities until last year. The eviction is on hold until later this month to give him time to appeal.

He acknowledges he never received a building permit, and city hall shut down a beachfront restaurant he opened years ago. But his main argument is that local authorities connected his cave to the electric grid decades ago.

"I am not leaving here. I am ready for them to bury me here," said Kahlon, a gruff but amiable chatterbox with a grey beard and beret. "I have nowhere to go, I have no other home."

Kahlon's cave home is on the outskirts of Herzliya, a seafront city 8 miles (13 kilometers) north of Tel Aviv. It stands in contrast to the luxury homes that dot much of the beachside town – one of the most exclusive addresses in a country with a dire housing crunch.

A few hundred meters (yards) north of Kahlon's cave is a Crusader castle – site of a battle between Richard the Lionheart and Saladin over 800 years ago – as well as an abandoned facility that once belonged to Israel Military Industries, a defunct government-owned arms maker.

The facility, where explosives were developed and tested, was abandoned nearly 30 years ago after a massive explosion in 1992 killed two workers, damaged hundreds of buildings and shattered windows as far away as Tel Aviv. Last month, another explosion blew a massive crater in the sandy soil not far from Kahlon's cave.

Various Israeli government authorities have accused each other of being responsible for cleaning up the patch of derelict, polluted ground over the decades. The Environmental Protection Ministry said that it has conducted repeated surveys to assess the extent of the pollution.

A full-scale cleanup, however, has not been done since the site was abandoned in the 1990s.

The ministry said the Defense Ministry and IMI, which was taken over by defense contractor Elbit Systems five years ago, are responsible for security at the site – whose main gate remains wide open and is frequently the scene of rogue raves – and that "there weren't supposed to be any remnants of live ammunition" inside.

The Environmental Protection Ministry also said Kahlon had caused "significant damage to the cliff, endangered the public and reduced the beach for public passage" over the past 50 years. It says the recent explosion only increases the potential risk to the cliff.

Subscribe to Israel Hayom's daily newsletter and never miss our top stories!

The ministry accused the Herzliya municipality and other authorities of failing to address the situation over the years and claimed it has tried since 2016 to resolve the issue. In the end, it said it issued the eviction order "to remove the harm to the coastal environment" and said the Herzliya municipality has found alternative housing for Kahlon.

In the meantime, Kahlon's friends and family have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise money for his legal defense while Kahlon continues to pursue his life's work.

After an interview with The Associated Press, Kahlon picked himself up, grabbed his walker and a mason's hammer and commenced chipping away at a nearby tunnel.

"I'm doing something to feel something," he said. "I can't sit around all day."

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida published an interview with a Palestinian village elder on Dec. 27, who falsely claimed that "on the neck of each cow, they [Israelis] hang a medallion with an eavesdropping and recording device on it, and sometimes cameras, in order to monitor every detail" in the village.

Rushd Morrar, a Khirbet Yanun village elder, further claimed that he spotted Israeli cows that are actually "recruited and trained" spies.
