Every time Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his former ally President Donald Trump clash, the EV company gets his in the stock market, mainly because investors fear that the White House will use the company as a means to retribution against the technological maverick and his attempt to torpedo the "Big Beautiful Bill" – Trump's landmark domestic tax legislation (which Musk says is fiscally irresponsible because it creates massive debt).

But for all the bickering and its impact on the the US, in the race for global electric vehicle dominance, Elon Musk has already made his choice – and it's not not DC, not the US, and certainly not Donald Trump.

For all the potential the US offers Musk in the EV world, the American market is simply too small, too gas-driven, and still needs to grow before it becomes a major focus.

Elon Musk and President Donald Trump have renewed their attacks on one another, with Tesla caught in the middle (REUTERS/Sam Mircovich; EPA/WILL OLIVER; REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein;)

Rather, his real heart lies in Xi Jinping's China, where battery factories hum 24/7, government ministers roll out red carpets for foreign capital, and electric cars now outsell gas guzzlers by the month. While US politicians bicker over subsidies and subpoenas, Musk has quietly hitched Tesla's future to the only country building the EV revolution at industrial scale – and it's a bet that makes Washington's grip on him look like a rounding error.

In 2021, China accounted for half of all global electric vehicle (EV) sales. Just three years later, that figure has surged to nearly two-thirds, a dominance no other country comes close to.

Since July 2024, electric car sales in China have overtaken those of gasoline-powered vehicles on a monthly basis, and by year's end, EVs made up close to 50% of total new car sales nationwide.

This wasn't just a market shift – it was a signal to every global automaker about where the future is being built. And no one heard it louder than Elon Musk.

A man walks along the Bund in Shanghai, China, 19 August 2024 (issued 20 August 2024) (EPA/Alex Plavevski)

Despite being the most visible CEO in America, Musk has quietly tied Tesla's long-term prospects not to Washington, but to Beijing. Gigafactory Shanghai – Tesla's largest and most productive plant globally – produced over 710,000 vehicles in 2022, accounting for more than half of the company's global deliveries. In 2023, Tesla's China revenue reached $21.75 billion, or 22.5% of its global earnings. By comparison, the US market, while still important, is facing saturation, regulatory drag, and mounting political risk. And that risk just got sharper.

In recent weeks, the relationship between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has deteriorated into a public feud. On June 5, Musk criticized Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," labeling it a "disgusting abomination" due to its increased military and border spending while cutting social programs. Musk also accused Trump of ingratitude, stating that Trump would have lost the election without his support. In response, Trump expressed disappointment in Musk, suggesting he was upset over the removal of electric vehicle tax credits from the bill and insinuating that Musk "missed the Oval Office." The exchange escalated when Musk alluded to Trump's alleged connections to Jeffrey Epstein, a post he later deleted. Subsequently, Trump threatened to cut federal subsidies to Musk's companies and announced plans to sell his red Tesla Model S, which he had previously purchased as a symbol of their alliance.

Yet if Trump thought this would scare Musk into retreat, he misunderstands both the Tesla CEO's strategy – and his balance sheet. The reality is, Tesla cannot afford to reduce its exposure to China. The country is not only the largest source of EV demand, it is also the center of battery innovation, supply chain integration, and regulatory acceleration.

A Tesla car in Shenzhen. The EV company has made enormous strides in the country (Erez Linn)

Take manufacturing: Tesla's Gigafactory Shanghai was built with roughly 65% less capital expenditure per unit of capacity than the Model 3 production lines in the US. Thanks to local supply chains – sourcing over 95% of parts domestically – and high levels of automation, it has become Tesla's most efficient production hub. Analysts and company executives have repeatedly pointed out that Shanghai's operating costs are lower than those of Tesla's US plants, making it the global benchmark for scalable, cost-effective EV manufacturing.

Shanghai has also become a global export hub: Chinese-made Teslas are shipped to Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia, enabling Tesla to hedge against regional downturns.

China is where the real competition is

Musk isn't just chasing volume in China – he's trying to stay alive against BYD, China's homegrown juggernaut. BYD commanded more than 34% of China's new energy vehicle market in 2024, while Tesla's share stood at just 6%. Yet that still translated to 657,102 Teslas sold domestically – a number most US automakers would envy. For Musk, the writing is on the wall: If you want to stay relevant in EVs, you have to fight – and win – on Chinese soil.

Then there's R&D. Tesla is now developing its much-anticipated $25,000 compact EV – the so-called "Model 2" – at its Shanghai research center, with plans to manufacture it locally. This is no accident. China's engineering talent, consumer feedback cycles, and parts ecosystem move at a speed the US can't match. And this model isn't just for Chinese buyers – it's Tesla's ticket to penetrate emerging markets from Southeast Asia to South America. In other words, Musk is betting that the next global Tesla won't be made in California. It'll be made in China.

Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jingping appear to have agreed on a new trade deal (Chinatopix Via AP; REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein/Maxim Shemetov)

After security concerns in 2021 about Tesla's in-car cameras, Musk quickly moved to localize data storage and open a dedicated data center in Shanghai. He has consistently praised China's efficiency, infrastructure, and policy environment, and was rewarded with regulatory fast-tracking, including permission to build Tesla's new Megapack energy storage factory in Shanghai – Tesla's first energy infrastructure investment outside the US.

That's not appeasement. It's alignment. And in China, alignment pays.

The irony is that while some American politicians frame Musk's China footprint as a vulnerability, it's actually Tesla's most valuable moat. The company has secured deep supply chain resilience, policy support, and access to the world's most dynamic auto market – all while US rivals struggle to scale EV production at home. General Motors and Ford are still losing money on every EV sold. Tesla, by contrast, has a proven, cost-efficient platform – and a profitable one – when paired with China's scale.

Could Trump's rhetoric translate into actual policy? Possibly. A future White House could slap tariffs on Chinese-made Teslas, limit federal EV subsidies to American-built models, or block software integrations with Chinese partners. But these are speed bumps – not existential threats.

Why? Because Musk isn't building Tesla just for the US market anymore. He's building it for a world where China is the default growth engine, not just a branch office. Whether it's raw demand, cost optimization, or tech iteration, China delivers what the US increasingly cannot: a roadmap to mass EV adoption at profit.

I have to hand it to Greta Thunberg; she is one of the most successful scam artists I have ever seen. She has managed to portray herself as a humanitarian leader, one of the most well-known climate change activists on the planet. Yet she has offered weak, vague solutions on how to effectively change policies to combat climate change. Now, her "Freedom Flotilla" has somehow convinced the world that she was en route to a humanitarian mission meant to save 2 million Palestinians, when in reality, it was nothing more than a holiday cruise funded by NGOs, a publicity stunt aimed at demonizing Israel.

By now, many of us have seen the images and videos of Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) naval commandos safely intercepting the Madleen vessel, which was carrying Thunberg and 11 other pro-Palestinian activists en route to Gaza. Despite the videos published by these activists earlier about being "kidnapped," the IDF treated these activists with kindness and provided them with food and water. The group was taken to Israel and is expected to return to their home countries (Thunberg and four others left on Tuesday morning).

In case it wasn't already clear: This wasn't a humanitarian mission. The so-called activists had published videos and photos of themselves smiling, swimming, eating gourmet meals, and filming TikTok videos.

Anyone with a bit of common sense knows this was a PR campaign. Greta and those supporting her efforts know very well that any boat crossing into Israeli territorial waters would have been stopped and its passengers arrested. If their PR stunt is successful, they would have staged an entire violent arrest and confrontation with the IDF and paint Israel as an evil state trying to block noble activists from delivering aid to Gaza. Any such clash could have serious public and diplomatic consequences for Israel (thankfully, it was unsuccessful).

An Israeli solider passes a pastrami sandwich to Greta Thunberg onboard the Gaza-bound British-flagged yacht "Madleen" after Israeli forces boarded the vessel (Reuters / Israel Foreign Ministry)

This voyage was operated by a nonprofit called the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which has organized other efforts to challenge Israel's maritime blockade of Gaza (what they call "illegal and inhumane") via supposedly nonviolent sea missions carrying aid. Yet despite these NGOs' claims, violence is often part of the package. In the past, multiple flotillas, including the 2010 MV Mavi Marmara mission, ended in violence and deaths. Israeli commandos, attempting to stop the Turkish-backed flotilla in international waters, rappelled from helicopters onto the deck and were immediately attacked by activists armed with metal rods, knives, and reportedly even firearms taken from the soldiers. In the chaotic fight, nine Turkish activists were killed and over 30 were wounded. Several Israeli soldiers were injured, including some thrown overboard.

Contrary to what many activists claim, the United Nations has found that Israel's naval blockade of Gaza, implemented to prevent Hamas from smuggling rockets and advanced weaponry, is fully legal under international law. This is not a matter of political opinion; it is a matter of legal fact. Greta and her team breaching a lawful blockade isn't heroic; it enables a terror group that steals aid, repurposes it for warfare, and continues to hold hostages.

Let's be honest: Greta would never dare try this stunt anywhere near Hamas-controlled waters. She knew she was safe only because Israel would stop her from entering.

The sad part is that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the newly founded organization in charge of distributing aid in Gaza, recently issued a harrowing statement about Hamas terrorists trying to regain control of aid distribution. After two decades of Hamas weaponizing hunger and humanitarianism against its own people, the truth of their abuses is finally coming to light, and Greta and her friends are actively emboldening them with this PR stunt.

This isn't surprising, considering the company aboard the Madleen. Among the passengers is Rima Hassan, a French member of the European Parliament, who claimed that Hamas's October 7 massacre was "legitimate" and has been previously denied entry to Israel. She has denied elements of the October 7 attack and has been accused of glorifying terrorism. Another activist, Thiago Ávila, was seen in videos chanting, "Allahu Akbar! Death to America! Death to Israel! Victory to Islam!"

In her climate activism, Thunberg is often criticized for offering no detailed or actionable policy proposals. Instead, she relies on moral slogans like "listen to the science" and "act now." These may be emotionally compelling, but they do little to address complex, systemic challenges, such as balancing climate goals with economic and energy realities. You can see the same pattern in her activism on behalf of Palestinians. I would assume Thunberg is just a well-intentioned but poorly informed young woman who has no real understanding of the ideology she's defending.

Thunberg isn't sailing to Sudan, where over 25 million people are starving. She isn't going to Yemen, where 17 million people are food insecure and 5 million are on the brink of starvation. Why? Because those places don't offer the same media optics, political currency, or carefully staged moral high ground.

Nothing screams Western ignorance louder than this so-called Freedom Flotilla. Gaza is the perfect theatre: a highly polarized conflict, a Western audience primed for outrage, and an Israeli democracy constrained by the rule of law. The image of Greta Thunberg posing in shorts while sailing to Gaza perfectly captures how out of touch many in the West are when they throw their support behind a genocidal terror regime like Hamas.

President Donald Trump acknowledged growing pessimism regarding Iran's willingness to completely halt uranium enrichment activities as part of renewed nuclear negotiations with Washington, though he emphasized his unwavering determination to prevent the Islamic Republic from acquiring atomic weapons capability during an exclusive interview with The New York Post's Miranda Devine.

The 78-year-old commander-in-chief expressed mounting skepticism about reaching a comprehensive agreement with Tehran during Monday's inaugural episode of Devine's new podcast "Pod Force One," scheduled for Wednesday release. The Post columnist conducted the wide-ranging discussion that revealed Trump's evolving assessment of diplomatic prospects with the Iranian regime.

"I don't know," Trump stated when Devine questioned whether he believed Iran would consent to shuttering its nuclear infrastructure. "I don't know. I did think so, and I'm getting more and more — less confident about it." The president's candid admission reflected a notable shift from earlier optimism about potential diplomatic breakthroughs with Iranian leadership.

Trump elaborated on his growing concerns about Iranian commitment to serious negotiations, telling The Post that recent developments have dampened his expectations. "They seem to be delaying, and I think that's a shame, but I'm less confident now than I would have been a couple of months ago. Something happened to them, but I am much less confident of a deal being made," he explained.

When Devine pressed about potential consequences if diplomatic efforts collapse entirely, Trump delivered an unambiguous response regarding nuclear proliferation. "Well, if they don't make a deal, they're not going to have a nuclear weapon," Trump answered. "If they do make a deal, they're not going have a nuclear weapon, too, you know? But they're not going a have a new nuclear weapon, so it's not going to matter from that standpoint."

The president expressed preference for peaceful resolution while maintaining firm red lines on Iranian nuclear capabilities. "But it would be nicer to do it without warfare, without people dying, it's so much nicer to do it. But I don't think I see the same level of enthusiasm for them to make a deal. I think they would make a mistake, but we'll see. I guess time will tell," Trump told The Post.

United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff has conducted indirect negotiations with Iranian representatives for several months with minimal tangible progress, according to The Post's reporting. The diplomatic initiative has encountered significant obstacles despite sustained engagement efforts through intermediary channels.

Witkoff previously suggested permitting continued Iranian uranium enrichment exclusively for civilian applications, mirroring elements of former President Barack Obama's 2015 nuclear agreement from which Trump withdrew American participation three years later. However, both State Department and White House officials have maintained absolute opposition to any Iranian enrichment activities whatsoever.

Trump dismissed speculation about Chinese influence affecting Tehran's negotiating posture when questioned by Devine about potential external factors. "I just think maybe they don't want to make a deal. What can I say?" he said. "And maybe they do. So what does that mean? There's nothing final," the president explained to The Post.

The Europe-based National Council of Resistance of Iran released estimates Tuesday indicating Tehran has allocated at least $2 trillion toward nuclear development initiatives over three decades. The opposition organization's financial analysis suggests Iranian nuclear spending has exceeded the regime's total petroleum revenues since 1979, estimated at approximately $1.5 trillion.

NCRI intelligence assessments identify the recently uncovered "Kavir Plan" as Iran's covert nuclear weapons development program receiving substantial funding allocations. "Tehran's dash to obtain nuclear weapons has intensified," the organization warned in a June 10 intelligence disclosure obtained by The Post.

Opposition researchers have identified four facilities allegedly connected to the Kavir Plan, all situated within or adjacent to north-central Semnan Province, which Iranian authorities have designated as restricted military territory. The locations represent potential sites for clandestine nuclear weapons research according to NCRI analysis.

Brian Wilson, the songwriter and producer who transformed the Beach Boys into America's most commercially successful rock group of the 1960s, has died at age 82, The Washington Post reported.

Wilson's family confirmed his death through his official website but provided no additional details. His extraordinary catalog of hits, including "Surfin' USA," "I Get Around," "Don't Worry Baby," and "California Girls," established the Beach Boys' signature sound that captured California's idealized surf culture.

Wilson's creative genius culminated in the groundbreaking 1966 album "Pet Sounds", which music critics widely regard as rock's first concept album. The record's innovative production techniques profoundly influenced The Beatles' creation of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" the following year.

The Beach Boys formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California, when Wilson joined his brothers Dennis and Carl, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Their debut single "Surfin'" earned immediate success, leading Capitol Records to sign them as the label's first rock act. The group achieved 36 Billboard Top 40 entries over 36 years, unmatched by any American band.

The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and Wilson received Kennedy Center Honors in 2007. His influence extended to numerous indie rock bands, with The New Yorker calling him "indie rock's muse."

"Pet Sounds" represented Wilson's artistic peak, incorporating unconventional sounds like bicycle bells and car horns into a cohesive narrative. Paul McCartney called its "God Only Knows" "the greatest pop song ever written." Born June 20, 1942, in Inglewood, California, Wilson showed early musical talent, writing his first song at age five.

Wilson spent years under controversial psychologist Eugene Landy, who was later stripped of his license after charging Wilson more than $3 million. His life stabilized after his 1995 marriage to Melinda Ledbetter, who became his manager and with whom he had five children before her death in 2024.

France has been making considerable efforts to be the leading European power in all matters relating to the Middle East, but recently it received a type of "stop and yield right of way" sign from the White House. Following this, it decided not to raise the issue of recognizing a Palestinian state at next week's conference at UN headquarters in New York – as published in Israel Hayom.

The decision was made following a series of appeals and warnings from the American administration to the French, even though its declared title is "International Conference for Recognition of a Palestinian State."

France was involved in the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, after years of involvement in the region, including the maritime border agreement between Israel and Lebanon. French President Emmanuel Macron hosted at the Elysee Palace the (former?) terrorist Ahmed al-Sharaa (also known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani), who crowned himself president of Syria, thereby giving him a stamp of approval from the Western world.

On the negative aspects, Emmanuel Macron is among the more anti-Israeli speakers among European leaders regarding the war with Hamas, and he joined extremists from Spain and Ireland in demands to suspend economic relations and trade relations between the Union and Israel, including association talks that institutionalize these relationships.

Mahmoud Abbas's letter

However, the international conference that Emmanuel Macron initiated in New York, whose purpose is, as mentioned, promoting the establishment of a Palestinian state, is one step too far even for the Americans. As part of preparations for the conference, held in cooperation with Saudi Arabia, the possibility arose that Western countries participating in it would declare recognition of a Palestinian state and its leadership – Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) and his government – as its chosen representatives.

American and Arab diplomatic sources confirm that the White House and the US State Department applied heavy pressure on Emmanuel Macron not to have this conference produce practical or far-reaching declarative implications. He initially rejected the pressure, and according to these sources, began checks with other European leaders regarding recognition of a Palestinian state, and apparently received approval from at least four countries for the possibility of joining such a declaration.

Here the Americans raised the tone, and in recent weeks, pressures reaching the level of real threats arrived at the Elysee Palace. According to an American source, in one of the conversations it was told to the French that if during the New York conference on US soil there would be recognition of a Palestinian state by even one Western country – this would be considered a personal insult to President Donald Trump. When the French response was not sufficient, the Americans made clear there would be a harsh response to this move.

Here they understood the situation in Paris and began trying to cut their losses. Among other things, they held conversations and briefings in Israel with journalists, and tried to emphasize the positive side and recognition of Israeli demands.

Mahmoud Abbas's letter

Israel Hayom published that France decided unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state will not be part of the summary declaration of the New York conference. A senior advisor on behalf of Emmanuel Macron presented to senior officials at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem the goals of the conference, and according to the advisor, the conference is actually intended to help Israel.

Donald Trump meets Syria's Ahmed al-Sharaa with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (Arab media)

The advisor added that the vision of the gathering includes a demand for the release of the hostages, an explicit call for Hamas to be disarmed, clarification that it will not be part of the future rule in Gaza, as well as a commitment by the Palestinian Authority to stop terror salaries and incitement against Israel in textbooks. Emmanuel Macron's representative added that Arab countries that will participate in the conference will lend their support to these demands, and therefore this aligns with Israel's interests, which France, according to her, supports in its positions.

All these points are Israeli demands, which the Authority has already publicly announced its agreement to, and it demands the disarmament explicitly from Hamas. However, in Jerusalem they still believed there is a chance that Emmanuel Macron would not prevent sporadic declarations by some of the Western countries recognizing a Palestinian state.

The American sources confirmed that the pressure from the White House did its job. In addition, warnings were passed to several of the "suspected" countries as those who might recognize a Palestinian state. At least one of them responded that the UN building in New York, supposed to host the conference, is actually extraterritorial, and that it might not comply with the American demand.

Open to Israelis

The American pressure toward Emmanuel Macron's France also worked on other levels. Next week will open at Le Bourget, Paris, the International Air Show, one of the defense and civilian aviation industry exhibitions. As of now, dozens of Israeli companies are supposed to participate in the show, chiefly among them the three largest – Israel Aerospace Industries, Elbit, and Rafael.

IDF troops in the Gaza Strip (IDF Spokesperson's Unit)

This is one of the most important arenas, if not the most important, for promoting sales, mainly defense but also civilian, such as converting passenger planes to cargo. Thus, following the show held two years ago, deals worth more than $150 billion were signed during the exhibition.

Israeli industries attract considerable attention thanks to radar systems, air defense, missiles, and other various fields, and the Russia-Ukraine war brought enormous growth in demand for Israeli products. However, in France they tried to prevent the arrival of Israeli companies to parallel exhibitions in the land and sea sectors last year. In both cases, eventually, the arrival was permitted.

This time, following the American pressure, France did not boycott Israeli companies. There is an appeal to the court in France from anti-Israeli organizations, but so far no decision has been made to prevent the arrival of Israelis to the event.

The US and China have announced a fresh trade framework following intensive negotiations in the United Kingdom, marking another attempt to resolve escalating economic tensions between the world's two largest economies, CNN reported.

The development represents yet another diplomatic effort to establish stable commercial relations between the superpowers after months of deteriorating ties.

Chinese and American trade officials confirmed Tuesday evening they had reached consensus on implementing arrangements initially established during May discussions in Geneva, CNN reported. The framework now awaits final approval from both President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Trump announced on Truth Social: "Our deal with China is done, subject to final approval with President Xi and me. Full magnets, and any necessary rare earths, will be supplied, up front, by China. Likewise, we will provide to China what was agreed to, including Chinese students using our colleges and universities (which has always been good with me!). We are getting a total of 55% tariffs, China is getting 10%. Relationship is excellent! Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

CNN reported that businesses, consumers and financial markets anxious about mounting trade barriers should experience relief from burdensome tariffs that have created significant economic uncertainty. Easing commercial restrictions between the dominant global economies should reduce costs and inject much-needed stability into markets showing troubling strain indicators.

However, the framework primarily restores conditions that existed before Trump's April 2 "Liberation Day" declarations rather than establishing genuinely improved trade relations. Tariff levels from both countries continue at historically elevated rates, while substantial export limitations persist across multiple sectors. The US maintains comprehensive restrictions on high-end artificial intelligence chip sales to China, while Chinese automotive imports remain completely blocked from American markets. Despite the latest agreement, China has not significantly increased what Trump characterizes as "fair" treatment of American commercial interests compared to pre-crisis levels.

Essential commercial negotiations

Trade negotiations became absolutely essential after April tensions reached critical levels threatening permanent economic damage. Trump's "Liberation Day" announcements triggered a punishing 145% tariff on most Chinese imports, making purchases from America's second-largest trading partner mathematically impossible for US companies across virtually every industry sector.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who led American negotiations in both rounds of discussions with Chinese counterparts, characterized previous tariff levels as "unsustainable."

May 12 announcements from both delegations promised significant rollbacks of the historically high mutual tariffs that had strangled bilateral commerce. Economic forecasters immediately reduced recession predictions while consumer confidence showed signs of recovery from earlier lows that had persisted throughout the spring trade crisis.

Recent weeks saw renewed hostility from the Trump administration toward China, with senior officials accusing Beijing of systematically violating May commitments regarding market access and export restrictions. Chinese officials similarly claimed Washington failed to honor Geneva agreement obligations regarding technology transfer restrictions and financial sanctions relief.

The Trump administration anticipated China would eliminate comprehensive restrictions on rare earth materials essential for electronics manufacturing, defense systems, and renewable energy infrastructure, but Beijing has only gradually permitted these materials to return to open markets. This slow pace created significant frustration within the Trump administration and prompted new US export restrictions on Chinese-bound goods, three administration officials told CNN last month.

China maintains virtual monopoly control over rare earth elements required for manufacturing cars, jet engines, MRI contrast dye and certain cancer medications used in American hospitals and medical facilities. Trump informed reporters Friday that Xi Jinping had committed to resuming rare earth mineral exports at previous levels, though industry analysts indicated these crucial materials had not resumed flowing to the US at historical volumes.

Successful implementation of current agreement terms should prevent the most severe trade war consequences, including potential pandemic-level supply shortages that experts had warned could affect essential goods ranging from medical devices to consumer electronics.

Against the backdrop of sanctions on government ministers, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar refused to accept a call Tuesday from his British counterpart David Lammy. Israel Hayom learned that throughout Tuesday, Lammy sought to coordinate a call with Sa'ar, but the Israeli foreign minister was clear that he would not accept the call. This followed the British foreign secretary's moves against Israel and particularly his announcement of sanctions against Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir.

The imposition of sanctions on serving ministers was condemned across the government from wall to wall and even opposition figures like Benny Gantz, as well as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio overnight.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir will likely face UK sanctions (Background: The Palace of Westminster) (REUTERS/Ronen Zvulun; Oren Ben Hakoon; Adrian DENNIS / AFP)

In an X post, Rubio wrote: "The United States condemns the sanctions imposed by the governments of United Kingdom, Canada, Norway, New Zealand, and Australia on two sitting members of the Israeli cabinet. These sanctions do not advance US-led efforts to achieve a ceasefire, bring all hostages home, and end the war. We reject any notion of equivalence: Hamas is a terrorist organization that committed unspeakable atrocities, continues to hold innocent civilians hostage, and prevents the people of Gaza from living in peace. We remind our partners not to forget who the real enemy is. The United States urges the reversal of the sanctions and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel."

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Already Monday night, Israel discovered Britain's intention to impose the sanctions, and by Tuesday morning this became an established fact. The Foreign Ministry had been monitoring this planned British step with concern for a month, when several weeks ago Lammy announced the freezing of negotiations for a free trade agreement with Israel.

It turns out this is not the end of the story from the British perspective. As with France's diplomatic efforts to advance a peace conference, this appears to be just another step toward escalation in relations between the countries. Israel recognizes this as planned pressure to bring Israel to stop the Gaza war and as part of additional moves that may be implemented soon.

If you're planning a trip to Las Vegas in the near future, you likely have obvious reasons for the visit. However, among the various tourist attractions on your itinerary, consider adding a new experience you've probably never encountered before. A recently opened entertainment facility in America's premier tourist destination has acquired multiple Merkava Mark 2 tanks, and visitors can actually ride these legendary armored vehicles.

An Israeli Facebook community of former Armored Corps soldiers, boasting roughly 7,000 members, shared details about this facility. The group stated, "Served on Mark 2 tanks during mandatory service and can't shake the nostalgia? Young and eager to understand how past military victories were achieved? This tank-focused entertainment venue acquired multiple Mark 2 tanks specifically to convert them into attractions for Americans."

On Monday, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Manchester, in recognition of his contributions to the city, both on and off the pitch.

During his acceptance speech, Guardiola addressed the situation in Gaza amid the ongoing war between Israel and the Hamas terrorist organization. Expressing deep personal anguish over events in the region, he pointedly avoided mentioning the October 7 massacre, sparking widespread outrage among Israeli football fans and many Jews in Britain.

"It's incredibly painful, what we're seeing in Gaza. It hurts my whole body," Guardiola said. "And I want to make it clear, it's not about ideology. It's not about me being right and you being wrong. Come on. This is simply about the love of life, about caring for your neighbor. Maybe we think it's none of our busines, seeing four-year-old children killed in bombings or dying in a hospital that no that's no longer a hosptal. It's not our business. The next one will be ours. the next four, five year old kids will be ours."

Guardiola's remarks quickly resonated across global media. The UK's Independent described it as "a passionate and emotional speech." A media outlet in Barcelona called it "a historic speech by a football figure on a political issue." France's RMC added: "Guardiola delivered a powerful and important speech in response to the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza."

Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the British Labour Party who has faced repeated allegations of antisemitism, shared Guardiola's comments and wrote: "Thank you, Pep Guardiola, for speaking up for the people of Gaza and calling for peace in Ukraine, Sudan and Congo as well. In the face of genocide happening before our eyes, silence is not an option. Kudos to all who use their platforms to defend our shared humanity."

Palestinian Ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot said he was "inspired" by Guardiola's speech. "As I was leaving Parliament today," he wrote, "I came across a lone protester demonstrating for Palestine, and I was reminded of Guardiola's words."

Argentinian President Javier Milei has cancelled his Wednesday morning visit to Jerusalem's City of David archaeological site. The planned tour would have included a meeting with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar at the historic location. Milei's representatives said he was not feeling well. The City of David, a small hill where the Jerusalem was founded 3,000 years ago, lies just next to the modern-day walled city, and was the place King David established Jerusalem as the capital of his kingdom.

The previous evening, Milei posted on X regarding the Yemen missile launch that sent millions to shelters, stating "I strongly recommend that when you react to what happens in Israel, remember what it's like to live in this situation. I witnessed this from the hotel where I'm staying in Jerusalem."

Prior to the cancellation, Milei had met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog. Herzog presented him with a replica of an ancient silver amulet discovered in the Ben Hinnom Valley, bearing the inscription "May the Lord bless you and keep you."

Should his visit proceed according to schedule, Milei will travel to Tel Aviv to inaugurate a park near the Sarona Complex. His itinerary also includes meetings with prominent rabbis, including Rabbi Dovid Abuchatzeira, and speaking with Argentine citizens who survived Hamas captivity. He is also scheduled to meet with the Cunio and Horn families, whose sons remain in Hamas captivity.
