French President Emmanuel Macron promised that "all will be done" to locate the perpetrators behind the graffiti, which was discovered on Friday in the village that has been maintained as a memorial and museum since it was burned down by the German army in June 1944, and 642 of its civilian residents were murdered, The Associated Press reported.

According to a separate report in the local paper, Le Populaire du Centre, the town covered the graffiti with a tarp that included the word "lie."

"Shame on those who did this. Everything will be done to find and judge the perpetrators of these sacrilegious acts," French Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti tweeted on Saturday.

Police are investigating the incident at the cemetery, which dates to the second half of the 18th century. It was renovated in 2010.

The World Jewish Congress decried the desecration.

"The Jews of Slovakia have in recent years been fortunately spared of overtly aggressive expressions of anti-Semitism, but it has become sadly clear that in the climate of xenophobia and hatred spiraling across Europe, every minority community is indeed a potential target for malicious attack," said the organization in a statement.

"We are incredibly grateful to the Christian NGO Pamätaj-Remember for taking it upon itself to invest in the maintenance and upkeep of the Jewish cemetery in the absence of an active Jewish community in the town of Námestovo, and we sincerely hope that this example of interfaith support will continue to triumph over any and all manifestations of hatred.

"This was an inexcusable and direct attack against the Jewish community, which must be condemned at the highest levels," the statement: continued. "All authorities in Slovakia and across Europe must make it clear that such expressions of disrespect and hatred will not be tolerated.

"We thank the local police authorities for treating this attack with the severity that it deserves and hope that the perpetrators will be located and brought to justice at once."

A vandal defaced a synagogue in Beverly Hills over the weekend, in what local authorities said is being investigated as a hate crime.

The Beverly Hills Police Department issued a statement saying that officers responded to a 911 call from the Nessah Synagogue "shortly after 7 a.m. [local time] after an employee notified security when he found an open door and items ransacked inside the synagogue."

The Nessah Synagogue was established in 1980 by Persian Jews who immigrated to Los Angeles from Tehran after the Islamic Revolution. It is one of the city's largest Iranian-Jewish synagogues.

According to the Los Angeles Times, several rooms at the synagogue were "heavily ransacked and several Jewish relics damaged," but the synagogue's main scrolls survived "unscathed" and the property wasn't defaced with hate symbols or anti-Semitic writings. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

Beverly Hills Mayor John Mirisch issued a statement saying, "This cowardly attack hits at the heart of who we are as a community. It's not just an attack on the Jewish Community of Beverly Hills; it's an attack on all of us. The entire city stands in solidarity behind Nessah, its members and congregants. We are committed to catching the criminal who desecrated a holy place on Shabbat of all days and bringing him to justice."

Police said that while they were investigating the incident as a hate crime, so far "no overt signs of anti-Semitism were found."

The lone suspect, who was carrying a backpack and pulling a wheeled suitcase, was captured on surveillance video.

Concerns about anti-Semitic crimes have been heightened since the hate-fueled attack Tuesday by two shooters on a Jersey City kosher deli that killed a police officer and three bystanders.

"In the aftermath of the terrible tragedy in Jersey City earlier this week, the American Jewish community is understandably anxious," Richard Hirschhaut, director of the American Jewish Committee in Los Angeles, told the Los Angeles Times.

"Reports of vandalism and damage to a synagogue are deeply troubling and cause further sense of discomfort amid the presumption of anti-Semitic intent."

French authorities on Wednesday confirmed that a Jewish cemetery in Westhoffen, west of Strasbourg, has been vandalized in an anti-Semitic attack.

According to local media reports, authorities said they had discovered 107 tombs spray-painted with swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans in a Jewish graveyard near the German border.

Reports of the attack came as the French National Assembly passed a resolution that stated that anti-Zionism is akin to anti-Semitism and called on other countries to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of anti-Semitism.

The vandalism in Westhoffen was discovered hours after a similar attack on another Jewish cemetery in the nearby village of Schaffhouse-sur-Zorn.

French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner condemned the "heinous acts" on Twitter, saying authorities will not rest until the vandals are brought to justice.

The Alsace region has witnessed a series of racist and anti-Semitic incidents in recent months. In February, over  90 graves were defaced with swastikas at the Quatzenheim Jewish cemetery, north of Strasbourg.

A food truck in Miami was vandalized last week with spray-painted swastikas.

Miami Police received a report that the Bao Wow Burgers Bruh food truck, in the town of Little Haiti, was marked with the anti-Semitic Nazi symbol. Police confirmed that detectives are now investigating the vandalism.

The truck's Jewish co-owner, Alex Ovadia, told Florida's WPLG Local 10 news that although the food truck has not yet officially opened for business, it has been targeted by vandals before.

"It's really disgusting, honestly, to see this in the United States, in Miami," said Ovadia. "This is a place of all people, and it's really unwelcoming to the community for us to start our business in a place where people are going to slap swastikas on our business before we open."

"Honestly, with all the things going on right now, this is really insulting a lot of people. It's really backwards," he continued.

Ovadia's business partner, Robert Marks, invited the perpetrator who targeted his truck to come have a drink and a burger "because I think the time for us to constantly be divided and harbor such hatred that would make someone feel justified in doing something like that has to end."

The owners said they will install surveillance cameras and fencing around the truck.
