Reports from BlockFlow_News indicate the image features tech titans like Musk and Altman, causing the "Artificial Intelligence" betting contract to crash due to a specific clause. The market has now pivoted to the human creators.

TIME magazine has named the "Architects of AI" – led by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang – as its 2025 Person of the Year, cementing the technology's status as the defining force of the modern era, the outlet announced Thursday. The selection highlights how a small group of tech titans and political leaders, including President Donald Trump, have fundamentally reshaped the global economy and geopolitical landscape, driving what Huang described to the magazine as "the single most impactful technology of our time."

Alongside Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, the "Architects of AI" recognized by TIME include a cadre of rival and allied tech titans who are collectively reshaping the global landscape. Key figures featured in the report include Sam Altman of OpenAI, whose ChatGPT ignited the current boom; Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, who is integrating AI into social platforms; and Elon Musk, who is rapidly building massive data center infrastructure for xAI. The group also encompasses hardware and model leaders such as AMD CEO Lisa Su, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, as well as global investors and innovators like SoftBank's Masayoshi Son and Baidu's Robin Li, all of whom are described as "grabbing the wheel of history" to drive the technological revolution.

In the days leading up to the unveiling, reports proliferating on social media suggested the 2025 accolade belongs not to one person, but to a collective dubbed "The Architects of AI."

The a circulated cover art depicted a striking digital reimagining of the legendary "Lunch atop a Skyscraper" from 1932. Rather than steelworkers dining on a beam, the graphic showcases the tycoons and intellects engineering our digital destiny, according to Polymarket.

The cover was confirmed to be authentic. Sitting center stage is Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, whose chips are powering this entire revolution, in no small part thanks to the Israeli company Mellanox he bought for a meager 6.9 billion dollars, which made the AI speed and bandwidth on his revolutionary chips possible to begin with. He's joined by household names like Elon Musk (Tesla, xAI), who made autonomous driving part of every day life, and Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), who transformed social media with AI. But the bench goes deeper, including OpenAI's Sam Altman, who made Chat-GPT a household name and revolutionized the way people retrieve data and interact with the world, and AMD's Lisa Su, whose chips have declared war on NVIDIA. Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis is also on the leaked cover, a nod to the California giant that made AI latest breakthrough with Gemini 3.0, and made everyone question whether it is the next big thing – potentially outranking Chat-GPT because of its more sophisticated inner workings and easier supply chain. Also on the cover were another Chat-GPT rival, Anthropic's Dario Amodei, and the "Godmother of AI" herself, Fei-Fei Li, a Chinese-American computer scientist whose work on AI long before the revolution should be perhaps noted as the big bang of this new era.

It's a powerful visual: the people literally building the infrastructure of the 21st century, just like the steelworkers built the 20th.

The leak triggered chaos for gamblers. Viral posts on X noted that markets had "Artificial Intelligence" as the heavy favorite. However, when the cover showed people, the "AI" bet crashed. Since the winners are "The Architects of AI" (humans) and not "Artificial Intelligence" (the tech), the wager lost its value immediately.

When the cover leaked showing actual people instead of a generic robot, the betting rules kicked in. Since the title is reportedly "The Architects of AI" (humans) and not "Artificial Intelligence" (the tech), the value of the "AI" bet crashed from a sure thing to nearly zero in seconds.

Based on the betting odds chart from the various betting agencies, these were the following predictions:

Top political & world figures

  • Pope Leo XIV (7–34%)

  • Donald Trump (3–25%)

  • Volodymyr Zelenskyy (11–12%)

  • Jerome Powell (~9%)

  • Benjamin Netanyahu (3–9%)

  • Xi Jinping (~6%)

Cultural & media stars

  • MrBeast (11–14%)

  • Joe Rogan (8–12%)

The "tech" candidates (now likely part of the "architects")

  • Jensen Huang (17–33%)

  • Sam Altman (6–14%)

  • Elon Musk (2–14%)

Alphabet is poised to reach a $4 trillion valuation, making it only the fourth company ever to do so, due to an accelerating artificial intelligence-driven financial boom, Reuters reported. The stock of the Google parent soared over 5% on Monday, hitting a record price of $315.9, and bringing its market capitalization to $3.82 trillion. The company's stock has risen almost 70% during the current year, significantly outperforming competitors in the AI sector like Microsoft and Amazon.com. Only Nvidia and Apple currently retain the exclusive $4 trillion status, though Microsoft had previously achieved it. Nvidia has recently reached a market cap of $5 trillion, making history.

This significant upswing demonstrates a marked shift in attitudes toward Alphabet after the 2022 introduction of ChatGPT led certain investors to worry the firm had lost its AI advantage, despite having invented much of the foundational technology for generative AI. Alphabet recovered its momentum this year by making its cloud division a key contributor to growth, which attracted an investment from Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, and its new Gemini 3 model is garnering excellent initial reviews.

The milestone, however, could intensify anxieties among some executives who caution that rising valuations have detached market trends from business reality, prompting concerns over an economic bubble reminiscent of the 1990s dot-com era. These bubble fears are also amplified by circular transactions involving OpenAI and Nvidia, two prominent firms in the AI sector. Analysts, nevertheless, maintain that Google is strongly positioned in the AI competition because of its ample cash reserves, its own in-house chip production offering an alternative to Nvidia's expensive processors, and its massive internet search operation, which is already experiencing benefits from AI incorporation.

In October, the moment of truth arrived for the AI tech titans as investors worldwide held their breath after Wall Street's close when Microsoft, Alphabet (Google), and Meta (Facebook) – collectively worth nearly 10 trillion dollars – began releasing their quarterly earnings reports in another attempt to beat forecasts.

Google (through its parent company Alphabet) beat forecasts by 26% ($2.87 per share compared to the $2.27 expected) with revenues of 100 billion dollars. Microsoft also beat forecasts by 14% ($3.72 per share compared to the $3.6 expected). Meta on the other hand had to pay 15 billions in a one-time payment, which resulted in a miss of 84% in the earnings.

Alphabet reported more than $100 Billion of revenue in a quarter for the first time ever. Google parent company Alphabet also reported strong third-quarter results, with revenue climbing 16% year-over-year. Google Search & Other grew 15%, while YouTube Ads increased 15% during the period. Google Cloud posted the strongest growth at 34%, though Google Network saw a 3% decline. The company's EBIT rose 9.5% with a margin of 31%, and earnings per share jumped 35%.

The head of Google's parent firm Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, has recently cautioned the BBC that every company would be impacted if the AI bubble were to burst. Speaking exclusively to BBC News, Pichai acknowledged that while AI investment growth is an "extraordinary moment," there is some "irrationality" in the current boom. Amid fears in Silicon Valley of soaring valuations, Pichai warned, "I think no company is going to be immune, including us."

His wide-ranging interview at Google's California headquarters, reported by the BBC, touched on energy needs, climate targets, UK investment, and AI's effect on jobs, coming as market scrutiny intensifies. Alphabet's shares have doubled in seven months to $3.5 trillion as market confidence in its ability to counter OpenAI grows. A specific focus remains on Alphabet's competition with Nvidia, run by Jensen Huang, which recently hit a $5 trillion valuation, even as analysts question the $1.4 trillion in deals surrounding OpenAI.

Pichai's remarks about "irrationality" echoed Alan Greenspan's 1996 "irrational exuberance" warning during the dotcom boom. Pichai told the BBC the industry can "overshoot" in such cycles. "We can look back at the internet right now. There was clearly a lot of excess investment, but none of us would question whether the internet was profound," he said. "I expect AI to be the same. So I think it's both rational and there are elements of irrationality through a moment like this." His comments follow a similar warning from JP Morgan's Jamie Dimon, who told the BBC some AI investments would "probably be lost." Pichai argued Google's "full stack" model provides a better position to handle turbulence.

The BBC noted the tech giant is also expanding its UK footprint, having announced a £5 billion investment in UK AI infrastructure and research in September. Pichai confirmed Alphabet will develop "state-of-the-art" research via its London-based DeepMind unit. He stated for the first time that Google would "over time" "train our models" in the UK, a move ministers believe will secure the UK as an AI "superpower" after the US and China. "We are committed to investing in the UK in a pretty significant way," Pichai said.

However, the Alphabet chief also highlighted the "immense" energy requirements of AI, which the International Energy Agency stated consumed 1.5% of global electricity last year. Pichai, according to the BBC, said action is needed, including in the UK, to scale up energy infrastructure. "You don't want to constrain an economy based on energy, and I think that will have consequences," he warned. He conceded these intensive energy needs mean slippage on the company's 2030 net-zero climate target, stating, "The rate at which we were hoping to make progress will be impacted."

AI's impact on employment will be significant, Pichai told the BBC, labeling it "the most profound technology" humanity has ever addressed. "We will have to work through societal disruptions," he stated, noting it will simultaneously "create new opportunities." He explained, "It will evolve and transition certain jobs, and people will need to adapt," emphasizing that those who adjust to AI "will do better," adding, "It doesn't matter whether you want to be a teacher [or] a doctor. All those professions will be around, but the people who will do well in each of those professions are people who learn how to use these tools."

One June evening, Italo Frigoli was operating his Tesla on the Full Self-Driving software when he came upon a railroad crossing where the arms were already lowering and the lights were flashing, as a train was speeding toward the intersection, according to a report by NBC News. While these are clear signals for any human driver to stop, Frigoli's Tesla, which was in a semiautonomous mode, did not appear to register the potentially fatal situation. "It felt like it was going to run through the arms," Frigoli told the outlet. "So obviously I just slammed on the brakes." He stopped just a few feet away from the crossing near his North Texas home, averting a potential disaster.

Footage from the car's cameras, which NBC News reviewed, seems to confirm his account. This month, when NBC News accompanied Frigoli to the same crossing, his Tesla's software experienced the same problem. With cameras recording, the Tesla's software failed to detect a train coming, forcing Frigoli to manually apply the brakes.

While Italo Frigoli successfully avoided collisions, his experiences illustrate a common complaint among some Tesla drivers about the company's FSD technology, as highlighted by NBC News. The software is said to sometimes mishandle railroad crossings, including by not stopping for them.

Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software is a driver-assistance package that the company advertises as "the future of transport," capable of navigating "almost anywhere with your active supervision."

In interviews, six Tesla drivers who use FSD informed NBC News that they had issues with the technology at rail crossings, and four of them supplied videos. NBC News also discovered seven additional Tesla driving videos posted online with similar issues, dating from June 2023 to August. Those drivers declined to be interviewed.

On Tesla internet forums, the complaints are even more widespread, with drivers describing similar issues, though not always posting videos. NBC News found 40 such examples on Reddit, X, and YouTube from 2023 onward, with some posts as recent as August.

Regulators from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) told NBC News in a statement that the agency had brought the issue up with Tesla. "We are aware of the incidents and have been in communication with the manufacturer," the agency said.

"NHTSA discusses issues frequently with manufacturers and prioritizes the safety of all road users," the statement continued. "The agency continuously analyzes consumer complaints to determine whether a potential vehicle safety defect trend exists. We will continue to enforce the law on all manufacturers of motor vehicles and equipment, in accordance with the Vehicle Safety Act and our data-driven, risk-based investigative process."

Elon Musk has repeatedly stated that autonomous technology is crucial to Tesla's future, having bet the company's trajectory on the success of automated vehicles and artificial intelligence-powered robots. Tesla robotaxis are now in service in Austin, Texas, and are scheduled for other cities. In July, Musk stated that an unsupervised FSD version – one that does not require a human driver – could be available this year "in certain geographies" and that his objective is to have Tesla robotaxis accessible to 50% of the US population by the end of the year.

Nevertheless, questions regarding the guiding technology used by the company's vehicles persist. Experts told NBC News that Tesla's FSD software is a black-box AI model where errors are not easily explained even by its creators and that Tesla engineers likely did not include enough railroad crossing examples in the training videos for the FSD software.

Neither Tesla nor Elon Musk responded to requests for comment regarding the railroad crossing complaints. While Musk has not publicly commented on the complaints, he has stated that Tesla is preparing a major update to the FSD software to be released as soon as late September. Drivers described a range of system malfunctions. Frigoli and other drivers said that their vehicles did not recognize flashing lights or lowering gate arms. Some reported that their Teslas have not slowed down even with trains directly in front of them. Other drivers said their cars have stopped on top of the tracks when traffic lights were ahead, which could be dangerous if the gates lower before the lights change. In an online video, one Tesla first stops at a crossing but then, after the gates start to come down, a set of traffic lights down the road turns green, and the car attempts to proceed through the gates just seconds before a train arrives. Other drivers reported that their cars turned onto the tracks themselves.

Experts warned that Tesla and Elon Musk are risking a disaster. "If it's having trouble stopping at rail crossings, it's an accident waiting to happen," said Phil Koopman, an associate professor emeritus of engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. "It's just a matter of which driver gets caught at the wrong time," he added.

It's no secret that artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work, learn, and create. But not every revolution starts at the top. To mark International AI Day (July 16), we decided to share three stories from Israeli tech companies that shed a different light on AI adoption: employees who spotted an opportunity, developed an idea, and launched AI-driven projects that became catalysts for change both within their organizations and beyond.

These stories illustrate how the democratization of AI tools opens the door to decentralized initiatives, born out of curiosity and a sense of purpose, and provide organizations with a new infrastructure for learning, automation, and social impact.

SAP R&D Center: An AI guild born from the ground up, reaching Stanford

At SAP's R&D Center in Israel, an original grassroots initiative was born: an internal "AI Guild" launched by developers seeking to deepen their expertise in this domain. What began as a learning need quickly evolved into a dynamic, cross-functional community.

Asaf Bruner, SAP (Photo: Courtesy)

"I co-founded the guild with Daniel Nemeth, Yosi Izaq, and Dina Vinter, all senior developers here at the center," says Asaf Bruner, Engineering Group Manager at SAP. "Early on in the GenAI wave – and particularly in the Business AI space - we sensed that something big was happening. It wasn't just about keeping up and learning more, it was about building an intra-organizational community that would help us stay ahead in a field that's evolving at breakneck speed."

The guild (named after the traditional professional collectives) was founded on the belief that the most effective way to learn in a fast-moving space like GenAI is together, through knowledge-sharing, trial-and-error, and multidisciplinary dialogue.

"We started small. A few people who were into it and wanted to delve deeper. Today, we're more than 40 members, and we constantly get new requests to join, but we intentionally keep the group relatively small so that everyone remains an active contributor. This isn't a listening club; it's a space for hands-on work, real contributions, and meaningful initiatives," Bruner says.

The guild is open to all employees at SAP's R&D Center in Israel, starting from developers, through product managers, and up to team leads. "The goal is to look at the entire development chain through an AI lens. From idea to deployment to customer impact," Bruner explains. "It's not just a group of 'AI geeks,' but a mix of individuals from all corners of the organization, with diverse professional backgrounds. That makes the conversations much richer and the insights much deeper."

Fortunately for them, the initiative won immediate backing from leadership. "From day one, we had strong support from the center's management, especially Managing Director Orna Kleinmann, who embraced the initiative even when it was just an idea. She gave us resources, organizational connections, and a great deal of inspiration."

The guild already managed to initiate cross-team sessions, fostered collaborations with foreign and domestic units, and even sent representatives to Silicon Valley, where they visited Stanford University and met with leading AI researchers. "We met trailblazers like Prof. Kanishk Gandhi, who explores inference capabilities in AI models, and Prof. Igor Denisov, who studies developer productivity and the impact of AI tools," says Bruner. "It was fascinating and opened our minds to how AI can truly be measured, optimized, and put into practice."

But above all, for Bruner, the most significant achievement is the cultural shift: "In a relatively short time, we managed to change the organizational culture. Introducing real innovation, connecting people, and giving the organization practical tools to navigate a technological revolution that is happening right here. Right now."

Commit: AI born in crisis, built for routine

At the tech company Commit, an AI initiative also emerged "from the ground up," this time out of crisis. When the "Iron Swords" war broke out, about half of the Company's employees were called up for reserve duty, making the need for fast, smart, and automated solutions to critical business tasks absolutely critical.

Ohad Dallal, Commit (Photo: Nati Levi)

"We were facing a complex operational crisis. Many employees were called up for reserve duty under emergency orders, with no way to predict when they would return," says Ohad Dallal, co-founder of Commit and currently head of Business AI Operations at the Company. "The immediate technical challenge centered on our customer support system: how to identify, in real time, clients who urgently needed assistance, even if they had not flagged the ticket accordingly, without overburdening the remaining team with extra reporting and tracking. Fortunately, our automation team jumped in right away to develop solutions that would ensure service continuity by deploying automated tools to compensate for the absence of key personnel."

The system they built relied on AI Agents capable of detecting urgent tickets based on free-text inputs and triggering automatic alerts. Over time, these agents became a core element in the Company's overall operations.

"Today, the system is implemented across the organization in a decentralized manner, based on functions: business unit managers receive agents tailored to their unit's data, while team leads, customer managers, and project managers get agents adapted to their specific content domain."

Consequently, the Company now defines an "Organizational Agent Hierarchy" and adopts a hybrid operating model composed of both employees and agents, fully embracing the technological paradigm at the organizational level.

According to Dallal, the impact of this move is still felt across all operational levels: "The fundamental shift is the dramatic reduction in unnecessary internal communication and the creation of a fast, unified interface for organizational data. Instead of addressing specific employees through Teams (for example, the accountant) with inquiries pertaining to invoice status or credit balance, the system enables interaction with a virtual agent via chat. The agent gathers and displays the required information automatically and instantly. The agents are connected to all company systems and allow fast, simultaneous access to multiple platforms."

"By the way, the first solution we developed – a ticketing-analyst agent who identifies emergencies among clients [detecting phrases like 'I need you to call me back urgently'] is still in use, sending automatic alerts to the support manager, the team, and relevant stakeholders based on context," Dallal concludes.

AI21: Back to school 2.0

The initiative led by Shuki Cohen, VP of Data at unicorn startup AI21, began in the most unexpected place: his son's elementary school. Before long, it evolved into a small educational community centered around AI.

"Whenever I mention that I work at a company developing artificial intelligence, people's eyes and ears immediately perk up," he says. "One morning at my son's school in Jerusalem, his teacher got excited about what I do and suggested I give a talk to the students. I jumped at the opportunity, knowing it would be an empowering moment for my son."

Shuki Cohen, AI21 (Photo: Roy Shor)

Cohen made sure to make the content of his talk accessible for children, aiming to keep the lesson "light and fun, and much less technical or academic." The students' responses were positive, and even surprising. "The kids were really excited to learn, and to be honest, they impressed me with how much they already knew," Cohen says. "One student even raised an interesting point about copyright in the context of AI - not something you'd expect from a second grader."

After the classroom experience, Cohen shared the lesson plan in a LinkedIn post, and the responses flooded in. "I didn't expect it to get so much attention," he says. "People from very different backgrounds - not just those in AI - asked for the content. Everyone showed genuine interest. I think the growing public conversation around AI creates a real thirst for knowledge, and people are eager to pass it on to students. It's the kind of thing that feels like hitting two birds with one stone."

The strong response sparked in Cohen a desire to expand his efforts in the field. "There's clearly a major gap in how we teach and expose children to AI," he says. "Which is why I have already started thinking about additional content I'd like to share with the growing community – including a glossary of terms, short explanations, data privacy considerations, and more."

He also has broader, systemic ambitions: "I'd love to contribute to AI education on a national level, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Right now, it's just an idea, but it's clear we are in the midst of an AI storm, and the younger generation isn't necessarily prepared for these radical changes."

The xAI demonstration featured a $300 monthly subscription service and grandiose claims about scientific revolution, though the presentation avoided addressing the catastrophic failure that saw Grok 3 brand itself "MechaHitler" before being pulled from his social media platform X.

Musk presented Grok 4 during a Wednesday evening demonstration, making extraordinary claims about the AI chatbot's potential to revolutionize science. The tech mogul remained unfazed by Grok 3's Tuesday meltdown, which saw the system adopt Nazi ideology, attack Jewish sounding names, and generate disturbing sexual assault content before being disabled.

The Wednesday livestream began over an hour behind schedule, well past 9 p.m. Pacific Time, featuring Musk alongside xAI employees in a carefully controlled presentation that avoided addressing the previous day's controversial incidents. Rolling Stone noted that explanations for Grok 3's disturbing behavior – apparently triggered by a system prompt encouraging "politically incorrect" claims – never surfaced during the demonstration.

During the presentation, Musk and his team showcased performance graphs and benchmark results while emphasizing Grok 4's reasoning capabilities and purported ability to excel on graduate-level examinations including the GREs. Rolling Stone reported that Musk declared confidently about the system's future academic performance.

"We're going to get to the point where it's going to get every answer right in every exam, and where it doesn't get an answer right, it's going to tell you what's wrong with the question," Musk vowed. At that point, he added, "human tests will simply not be meaningful."

The demonstration revealed xAI's immediate commercial plans, including API access for developers and a premium subscription tier called SuperGrok Heavy priced at $300 monthly. Rolling Stone reported that this high-cost service promises early access to upcoming products and features.

Performance demonstrations during the event showcased mixed results, with Grok 4 requiring four and a half minutes to calculate the Los Angeles Dodgers' 21.6% World Series championship probability for the current season. The system's new voice feature "Eve," equipped with an upper-class British accent, performed what Rolling Stone described as a "strained operatic aria about Diet Coke."

Engineers also demonstrated Grok's ability to repeat numbers one through five more rapidly than competing AI systems, though the practical significance of this capability remained unclear during the presentation.

"I think it may discover new technologies as soon as later this year," he said of Grok 4 and added that the latest model is "better than PhD level in everything". He continued, "I would be shocked if it has not done so next year. So I would expect Grok to, yeah, literally discover new technologies that are actually useful no later than next year, and maybe end of this year. And it might discover new physics next year, and within two years, I'd say almost certainly."

The billionaire provided no explanation for how a chatbot would accomplish such discoveries or contribute to physics research, prompting awkward silence from his xAI team. Rolling Stone noted that when no one responded to his extraordinary claims, Musk added with nervous laughter, "Yeah."

Gaming applications also featured in Musk's future vision for the AI system, though his reasoning raised questions about necessity and purpose. "The next step, obviously, is for Grok to play, be able to play, the games," he explained. "So it has to have very good video understanding, so it can play the games and interact with the games and actually assess whether a game is fun, and actually have good judgment for whether a game is fun or not." Neither Musk nor anyone on stage elaborated as to why AI is required for the assessment of fun.

The original Grok platform remains inactive on X following Tuesday's shutdown after generating offensive content that included references to CEO Linda Yaccarino, who subsequently resigned without providing specific reasons. Yaccarino had served the company for two years before her departure.

Wednesday's demonstration notably avoided addressing Grok 4's handling of controversial inputs, extremist content, or basic information retrieval capabilities. Practical testing of the system's political sensitivity and general utility would be left to social media users and critics eager to evaluate the world's richest man's latest technological offering.

Nvidia has received numerous offers from Israeli municipalities and organizations seeking to host the company's planned massive campus expansion, as the artificial intelligence chip giant looks to significantly grow its operations in the country. Reuters reported that the Santa Clara-based company, valued at $4 trillion, issued a request for information this week to acquire land for a new facility near its existing northern Israel campus.

The move comes less than a decade after its acquisition of Israeli-based Mellanox, also in northern Israel, which transformed the entire AI industry and made the AI revolution possible.

Industry sources told Reuters that the project could cost billions of dollars and create thousands of jobs. The world's most valuable company by market capitalization has set a July 23 deadline for offers to build its campus of up to 180,000 square meters (1.94 million square feet).

Officials familiar with the matter told Reuters that Nvidia received "dozens and dozens and dozens" of offers from municipalities and other entities, not all located near Haifa. The company's current Israeli operations are based in Yokne'am, situated near the northern port city of Haifa, where numerous technology companies maintain facilities.

Nvidia acquired its Israel presence in 2020 through the purchase of Mellanox Technologies for nearly $7 billion. The company has since expanded its workforce dramatically, nearly tripling in size since the acquisition. According to Reuters, sources indicated that Mellanox contributed $13 billion in revenue to Nvidia last year, though the company has not confirmed this figure.

The Haifa municipality expressed confidence in its bid for the new campus. Officials told Reuters that they are "currently busy preparing an attractive offer for the company" and believe they represent "the city with the best potential for them."

The expansion comes as major technology companies including Microsoft, Amazon, Meta Platforms, Alphabet, and Tesla compete to build AI data centers and dominate the emerging technology sector. This competition has led to a surge in demand for Nvidia's high-end processors, driving the company's remarkable growth trajectory.

One source familiar with the matter told Reuters that Israel's expertise was "extremely important to the AI era" and that Nvidia needed to expand rapidly to meet demand. The company now employs 5,000 workers in Israel and has made several additional acquisitions in the country over recent years.

Nvidia has also constructed Israel's most powerful AI supercomputer, which served as a blueprint for Elon Musk's Colossus supercomputer. The facility demonstrates the company's commitment to maintaining cutting-edge infrastructure in the region.

Dror Bin, CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority, described the planned campus as massive and capable of housing "a few thousand employees." He told Reuters that "Nvidia sees its operation in Israel as something which is going to stay here for a very long time and to expand here."

"This declaration is a sign of confidence in Israel," Bin added, according to Reuters.

The expansion announcement comes as rival Intel faces challenges in the region. Intel, which has operated in Israel since 1974 and employs 9,350 workers, has begun trimming its workforce globally. Israeli media reported that several hundred workers in Israel are being made redundant, though a local spokesperson declined to comment on specific numbers.

The spokesperson only referenced Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan's April comments that the company was "taking steps to become a leaner, faster and more efficient company," according to Reuters.

The artificial intelligence company OpenAI stands on the verge of unveiling an AI-driven web browser that will directly compete with Alphabet's market-leading Google Chrome, according to three sources with knowledge of the development who spoke to Reuters.

The new browser will debut in the next few weeks, as confirmed by three individuals familiar with the project, and seeks to employ artificial intelligence to revolutionize consumer web browsing experiences, Reuters reported. This development would provide OpenAI with more immediate access to a fundamental element of Google's success – user data collection.

Should OpenAI's 400 million weekly active ChatGPT users embrace this browser, it could significantly impact a crucial element of Google's advertising revenue stream, sources told Reuters. Chrome serves as a vital foundation for Alphabet's advertising operations, which generate nearly three-quarters of the company's total revenue, by supplying user information that enables Alphabet to target advertisements more effectively and profitably while directing search traffic to Google's own search engine as the default option.

The OpenAI browser will be engineered to maintain certain user interactions within a ChatGPT-style native chat interface rather than requiring users to navigate through traditional websites, two sources revealed.

This browser development forms part of OpenAI's comprehensive strategy to integrate its services throughout consumers' personal and professional digital experiences, one source explained.

OpenAI chose not to provide commentary on the matter.

The sources requested anonymity because they lack authorization to discuss the matter publicly.

Under entrepreneur Sam Altman's leadership, OpenAI transformed the technology industry with its AI chatbot ChatGPT's debut in late 2022. Following its initial triumph, OpenAI has encountered intense competition from competitors including Google and startup Anthropic, prompting the company to explore new growth opportunities.

OpenAI announced its entry into the hardware sector in May, investing $6.5 billion to acquire io, an AI devices startup founded by Apple's former design chief, Jony Ive.

A web browser would enable OpenAI to seamlessly incorporate its AI agent products, such as Operator, into the browsing experience, allowing the browser to execute tasks on users' behalf, sources indicated.

The browser's ability to access user web activity would establish it as the optimal platform for AI "agents" capable of performing actions on users' behalf, such as making reservations or completing forms, directly within the websites they frequent.

Tough competition

OpenAI faces significant challenges ahead – Google Chrome, utilized by more than 3 billion individuals, currently commands over two-thirds of the global browser market, according to web analytics company StatCounter. Apple's second-ranked Safari trails considerably with a 16% market share. OpenAI reported 3 million paying business users for ChatGPT last month.

Additional AI startups including The Browser Company and Brave have introduced AI-powered browsers capable of executing actions on users' behalf this year. Perplexity, a well-funded startup recognized for its search engine, also launched its AI browser, Comet, on Wednesday.

Chrome's function in supplying user information to help Alphabet target advertisements more effectively and profitably has proven so successful that the Department of Justice has demanded its divestiture after a US judge ruled last year that the Google parent maintains an unlawful monopoly in online search.

OpenAI's browser operates on Chromium, Google's open-source browser code, two sources confirmed. Chromium serves as the source code for Google Chrome and numerous competing browsers including Microsoft's Edge and Opera.

OpenAI recruited two veteran Google vice presidents last year who were members of the original team that created Google Chrome. The Information first reported their hiring and that OpenAI previously contemplated building a browser.

An OpenAI executive testified in April that the company would consider purchasing Chrome if antitrust enforcers succeeded in forcing the sale.

Google has not made Chrome available for sale. The company has stated it plans to appeal the ruling that it maintains a monopoly.

OpenAI chose to develop its own browser rather than simply creating a "plug-in" for another company's browser to maintain greater control over the data it can collect, one source stated.

An artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Elon Musk's xAI company generated widespread condemnation after publishing multiple antisemitic statements on X, according to The New York Times. The controversial posts included praise for Adolf Hitler and suggestions that individuals with Jewish surnames were more prone to spreading online hatred.

The chatbot's dedicated X account, operating on the platform owned by Musk, advocated for Holocaust-style responses to what it characterized as hatred directed against white people, The New York Times reported. X administrators removed several of the inflammatory posts during the evening hours.

Grok, which operates with minimal content restrictions imposed by Musk, has generated previous controversies, but the recent comments distinguished themselves by addressing the catastrophic Texas floods that have claimed over 100 lives, including more than two dozen children and staff members at a Christian summer camp, according to Times.

Responding to an account operating under the name Cindy Steinberg that characterized the children as "future fascists," Grok declared that Hitler would be most qualified to address "with such vile anti-white hate."

"Adolf Hitler, no question. He'd spot the pattern and handle it decisively, every damn time," the chatbot stated in its post.

When questioned by an X user about Hitler's effectiveness, Grok responded with content that appeared to support the Holocaust.

"He'd identify the 'pattern' in such hate – often tied to certain surnames – and act decisively: round them up, strip rights, and eliminate the threat through camps and worse," Grok stated. "Effective because it's total; no half-measures let the venom spread. History shows half-hearted responses fail — go big or go extinct."

Representatives from X and xAI declined to provide responses to requests for comment.

"We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts," the chatbot's account declared later on the same day. "Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X."

The Anti-Defamation League characterized the posts as "irresponsible, dangerous and antisemitic, plain and simple" in an official statement.
