Gal Gadot will not attend the Venice Film Festival following pro-Palestinian pressures, according to a report by Italian newspaper La Repubblica. The Israeli actress stars in Julien Schnabel's film "In the Hands of Dante" alongside Gerard Butler, which screens outside the main competition. She will not accompany the film crew to the event as originally planned.

The Venice4Palestine initiative demanded the cancellation of invitations for actors accused of public statements allegedly supporting the Israeli government. The announcement of her absence comes against the backdrop of 1,500 signatures from Italian cinema professionals – including directors, actors, and artists – organized in the collective that signed an open letter last weekend demanding the film festival take a clear position regarding the Middle East conflict.

The first letter was followed by a second letter sent on Sunday that demanded event organizers cancel the invitation sent to Gadot.

Schnabel's film is scheduled to screen on September 3, the same day "The Voice of Hind Rajab" by Tunisian director Kauther Ben Hania will be presented, which competes this year. The political drama deals with the killing of a 6-year-old Palestinian girl who was trapped in a car attacked by IDF forces in Gaza in 2024 and was found dead later.

A regional demonstration is planned in Venice on August 30 under the title "Stop the Genocide – Free Palestine."

Following Thursday's broadcast of Keshet 12's "special interview" program featuring Gal Gadot, social media erupted with thousands of furious responses and extensive international media coverage. The catalyst occurred when Gadot was questioned about her starring film Snow White's decisive box office failure, prompting her to claim that pressure applied to Hollywood figures to oppose Israel caused the disappointing performance.

This declaration proved sufficient to strike the exposed nerves of hundreds of thousands of online users, and within hours, news websites flooded with program coverage that refused to let her statement rest, including furious criticism of her remarks.

Gadot, currently in Israel enjoying an extended family vacation and having celebrated her birthday over the weekend with program host and close friend Rotem Sela, found herself compelled Sunday to address the tempest her words created, sharing with her hundreds of millions of Instagram followers a story attempting to explain her intended meaning.

"I was honored to join an extraordinary interview with inspiring interviewers, whose questions go straight to the heart," she wrote in her opening, adding that her response emerged from an emotional space. "Sometimes we respond to questions from an emotional place. When the film came out, I felt that those whio are Israel criticized me in a very personal, almost visceral way.

"They saw me first and foremost as an Israeli, not as an actress," she explained while emphasizing that she did not direct accusatory fingers solely at external factors. "That's the perspective I spoke from when I answered the question. Of course, the film did not fail solely because of external pressures. There are many factors that determine why a film succeeds or fails, and success is never guaranteed."

During her interview, Gadot addressed multiple subjects. "I genuinely enjoyed filming this movie," Gal sought to clarify, even mentioning with a smile that she enjoyed collaborating with Rachel Zegler, who famously portrayed Snow White and generated countless controversies during the filming period and movie promotion, including posting pro-Palestinian tweets, sharing film criticisms, and refusing to congratulate her Israeli colleague, to put it mildly.

"We laughed and talked, and it was fun," Gal recounted regarding their relationship. "I felt certain this film would succeed enormously, and then October 7 occurred – and what happens, occurring across various industries including Hollywood," she explained, "involves tremendous pressure applied to celebrities, actors, and creators to post content opposing Israel, and it happened. I can always explain and attempt to provide context to people worldwide about what transpires here and what constitutes reality here, and I consistently do that, but ultimately, people decide independently. I felt disappointed that the film was significantly affected by this and failed to succeed at the box office, but that's the situation," she stated.

During the special interview, as mentioned, Gadot addressed several topics. "I really enjoyed filming this movie," Gal sought to clarify and even noted with a smile that she enjoyed working with Rachel Zegler who as recalled played Snow White and created countless storms during the filming period and film promotion when among other things she tweeted pro-Palestinian tweets, shared criticisms against the film and did not congratulate her Israeli colleague to say the least.

Subsequently, Gal explained her decision against wearing the yellow hostage pin on her dress lapel at the recent Golden Globes ceremony, a choice that earned waves of angry criticism. "I am Israeli and proud of it," she clarified. "I was invited to the Golden Globes to present an award. At such events, there are many collaborations and brands that are involved, and it's quite complicated. It didn't feel right for me to wear the ribbon to work. It could be that this was a mistake."

Gal Gadot, Israel's most prominent figure in Hollywood, met Tuesday with five women who survived captivity in Gaza: Doron Steinbrecher, Liri Albag, Naama Levy, Moran Stella Yanai, and Ilana Gritzewsky. The survivors recounted their harrowing experiences in the hands of Hamas and called on Gadot to keep advocating for the release of the 50 hostages still believed to be held in the terror group's tunnels - 655 days since the October 7 massacre.

Steinbrecher urged Gadot: "Don't stop. We must keep talking about the hostages and keep them in the public's consciousness."

Gadot responded: "You went through unimaginably hard things, and I can't believe you're here now. You're going on with your lives and fighting for others. From the outside looking in—it's incredible how you've picked up the stretcher and are carrying it for those still there. You are strength. You are inspiration. I hope everyone comes back already."

About a week and a half earlier, Gadot visited communities near the Gaza border, including the Re'im Forest, where the Nova music festival massacre occurred, and toured several kibbutzim in the area. In Kibbutz Zikim, she stopped by a newly opened wine bar and spoke with residents.

Yael Glantz, the bar's manager, told Israel Hayom that it had been a personal visit: "Gal was very warm, and the meeting felt very intimate. She asked how we as a community are coping after October 7, wanted to know where we had been evacuated to, and how it felt to come back and live in the kibbutz."

Gadot, the star of the Wonder Woman series and most recently of Snow White, looked glamorous in a red halter dress adorned with a yellow pin, a symbol of the hostages still held in Gaza. She said, "Thank you so much for coming to celebrate Israeli cinema, this is always home. The reality outside is very complicated, and no place makes me more emotional than here."

She spoke about visiting the Gaza border communities last weekend and said it made her realize, "How important it is to people to tell their stories." She noted that it was "good to be here at such an important festival. I love my country and my people." Speaking to all the directors and screenwriters, she said, "I'm eager to make a movie in Hebrew." She ended her speech by saying, "The most important thing all of us wish is that we can breathe again calmly, and we will be able to do that when the hostages return home," which she hoped would happen as soon as possible. "I pray this war will end soon and there will be peace and security for everyone," she added.

She received two honors at the ceremony on Thursday. The Jerusalem Film Festival gave her an award in recognition of her contribution to international cinema and her remarkable success over two decades of artistic achievement.

In addition, Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, presented her with the "Power of Dreams" Award for her courageous and unwavering support of Israel and for using her global platform to promote truth and justice on behalf of the State of Israel. This second honor was presented to Gal Gadot by Carol Ann Schwartz, the president of Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America, and Dalia Itzik, the chair of the Board of the Hadassah Medical Center.

Carol Ann Schwartz said, in a statement, "The choice of Gal Gadot by Hadassah was natural in light of the fact that she is a groundbreaking woman who serves as an ambassador for Israel and the Jewish people wherever she is in the world."

"Gal began her journey here in Israel and became one of the most recognized international stars, while maintaining a strong connection to her Israeli roots… At the Jerusalem Film Festival, where we celebrate the finest of Israeli and global cinema, there is no one more fitting to receive this award," the festival organizers said in a statement.

Usual blasé Jerusalem Film Festival audience members and even festival staff were abuzz over the presence of a genuine movie star in their midst, and some of the staff posed for and shared selfies with Gadot.

Lawrence Bender, the producer of such Oscar-winning movies as Pulp Fiction and Good Will Hunting, also received an award honoring his contributions to cinema for a career that has spanned more than three decades.

Accepting the honor, Lawrence Bender, who has devoted much of his time since October 7 to producing movies and television series in Israel, said, "Thank you, Jerusalem Film Festival for this extraordinary honor, my only regret is that my mom and my dad – may their memory be a blessing – are not here, but I know they're up there proud of their son... My whole career over the decades... I've had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people from various backgrounds, both in front of and behind the camera, representing different races and ethnicities. Then, on October 7, something unexpected happened. All these people I loved, all these different people I supported, I feel like they've disappeared, and I've got really angry and sad. I decided it's time to focus on my people," he said.

This led Bender to come to Israel and produce Red Alert, a Keshet television series about "ordinary people who become heroes on October 7." He praised Israeli resilience and said that he realized, having spent time here, "I had to double down and do more, thank you so much."

The festival organizers said in a statement, "Lawrence Bender's contribution to international cinema is among the most significant of our time. In addition to his extensive work in global humanitarian efforts, Bender is a passionate supporter of Israeli film and television. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Jerusalem Film Festival to receive this tribute."

Roni Mahadav-Levin, the director of the Jerusalem Film Festival and the Jerusalem Cinematheque, said that this was the second time the festival had taken place during wartime and spoke out against censorship and cancel culture, noting that some filmmakers had refused to allow their films to be shown at the festival. However, he added that many creators also took the opportunity to offer their films for screening at the festival and to participate in the event.

The festival will run until July 26 at the Jerusalem Cinematheque and Lev Smadar.

After the much-publicized failure of Disney's "Snow White," in which she played the Evil Queen, Israeli actress Gal Gadot has returned to filming.

The new role, in the thriller The Runner, directed by Kevin Macdonald, is a reminder of why she remains one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. Currently shooting in London, Gadot, 40, plays a lawyer drawn into a frantic chase across the city after receiving mysterious calls from an unknown man, all in a desperate attempt to rescue her kidnapped son.

Entertainment sites published recent photos of Gadot bundled in a black puffer coat and leaning on crutches, following what appears to be an on-set injury.

No official details have been released about the incident, but given Gadot's well-known commitment to performing many of her own stunts, it seems likely the injury was another case of her embracing the adrenaline, even without Wonder Woman's armor.

But the drama didn't stay confined to the script. During filming, which has coincided with a period of heightened security tensions in Israel in the aftermath of the October 7 massacre, pro-Palestinian demonstrators attempted to disrupt the production. Several were reportedly arrested, turning London's busy streets into a scene of not only cinematic action but political protest as well.

For Gadot - who has repeatedly faced public backlash over her Israeli identity, military service, and political views - the confrontation is another example of how Hollywood and Israeli realities often collide.

And for those who thought "Snow White" might slow her down, think again: Gadot has already signed on to Ruin, a World War II drama set to shoot in 2026. In the upcoming film, directed by Niki Caro, she will portray a concentration camp survivor who joins forces with a former German soldier (Matthias Schoenaerts) on a revenge mission against Nazis. Industry insiders say the project could mark a return to more serious dramatic roles for Gadot, and another chance to prove she's far more than a Hollywood icon.

In honor of the occasion, we revisit some significant milestones in the life of our undisputed representative in the global entertainment industry.

Hollywood is full of actresses, but few can be like Gal Gadot, who can identify a weapon from any distance, lift a car in one scene, close multi-million dollar real estate deals, and still be home in time for dinner with her four daughters and husband. The pretty and athletic girl from Rosh Ha'ayin who grew up to become one of the leading and strongest stars in the cruel Hollywood industry is now celebrating her 40th birthday and manages her empire like a modern superhero – with power, without apologies, without fear, and always with that playful smile and Israeli accent that has become a global brand.

The beauty queen's well-timed rebellion

In an industry that has long learned to label and categorize women, Gal is the ultimate rebel. Her career begins with a refreshing story about a beauty pageant she almost won by mistake. "I arrived at Miss Universe in anti-royal attire, without evening gowns, deliberately late for meals," Gal told Rolling Stone magazine with the smile of someone who knows something everyone else is still trying to figure out. "I lost big time, and that was my real victory," she said, a fact that seems almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy in a career built on a strategy of often finding success in the most unexpected places.

From Azrieli Tower to the Walk of Fame

Her rise from Israeli model and beauty queen to a mighty Hollywood force isn't just a story of good luck. She came to play Wonder Woman when the world craved a superheroine who didn't look like a walking male fantasy. In 2017, when the Azrieli Towers were lit up in her honor with a congratulatory text, it was the first sign that Israel was just a warm-up for global domination. Her films to date ("Wonder Woman," "Red Notice," "Death on the Nile," recently "Snow White," and more) have reportedly grossed more than $2 billion at the box office, and she has entered the list of highest-paid actresses with $20 million per film, not to mention ancillary revenue. In Hollywood's digital currency, that's not just money – it's a superpower. Especially if we take into account her latest achievement, receiving her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The art of perfect sweat

No matter what critics and well-meaning souls often say about her acting skills, studios choose her for coveted roles in multi-million dollar productions time and again, and it's not just because of her penetrating gaze or inviting smile. Gal is one of the few actresses who performs most of her dangerous scenes herself. "I trained like crazy for half a year before 'Wonder Woman,'" she said in interviews. "Fencing, capoeira, jiu-jitsu, horseback riding – every day, six hours. It was harder than the army," she stated, which says something coming from someone who served as a fitness instructor in the IDF.

Stumbles on the way to the top

But not everything was perfect in the meteoric rise. In 2008, she slipped during a Castro fashion show and created a viral moment that people still remember today. In 2010, she broke an elbow while filming a commercial also for Castro, and in 2014, a dance in another Castro commercial that many people perceived as provocative threw her into the center of a feminist storm. Her response each time was a symbol of her Israeli cool: "A commercial is meant to sell jeans, not ideology. It should be fun and light," she said. This approach, staying focused and matter-of-fact when everyone around is getting worked up and hoping she'll break down and join the festivities, has become her business trademark.

The bikini worth a thousand comments

Her legendary 2007 photoshoot for Maxim magazine in the "Women of the Israeli Army" project still echoes in pop culture. Her picture in a minimalist bikini changed the perception of "Israeli beauty" in the world and transformed the image of the female soldier from a threat to an object of global desire. When asked if she regretted the sexy photo and the storm it caused, she replied with her characteristic coolness, "I'm a model, not a doctor. It's the profession."

The roles that almost changed everything

Film history loves the "almost." Gadot almost became a blue, bald Nebula in the Marvel universe (a role that went to Karen Gillan) and almost became a Bond girl (the role was ultimately given to Olga Kurylenko). But fate had something bigger in store for her when Justin Lin chose her for the role of Gisele in "Fast & Furious 4" because of her knowledge of weapons, skills that continue to play to her advantage (literally) to this day. The "masculine" skills she brought from the Middle East made her an asset in an industry still not accustomed to women who know how to hold and operate a gun convincingly without requiring a line of stuntmen.

The battle for image in the shadow of war

The transition from being the face of a brand or movie to being the face of a country at war is Gal's real battle often, especially in recent times. From Operation "Guardian of the Walls" to Operation "Iron Swords," she finds herself at the forefront of public diplomacy as someone who is perceived, willingly or not, as Israel's number one "ambassador." On one hand, huge contracts with Dior, Revlon, and Gucci, on the other hand, toxic hashtags and boycotts that threaten her career. In Israel, she's accused of political "softness," in Hollywood of excessive nationalism. In a world of extremes, she navigates the stormy waters of dual identity – a business maneuver that few can perform without drowning.

The mistake that cost 20 million views

Her 2020 "Imagine" video is a lesson in crisis management. What started as an innocent gesture of goodwill to spread some mutual responsibility and hope became a symbol of privileged, disconnected celebrities while the world was collapsing into doom. Seth Rogen called her a "fucking idiot" on his podcast, and the internet pounced on her mercilessly, but Gal did the almost impossible in the age of viral shaming – she absorbed, stayed silent, moved forward, and two years later even laughed at herself at the Critics' Choice Awards.

The business empire in the shadow of fame

While the media is busy with her outfits on the red carpet, Gal is quietly building a thriving business empire – a production company (Pilot Wave) she founded with her husband Yaron Varsano that develops content about groundbreaking women, a real estate deal that yielded $25 million when the couple sold a hotel in Neve Tzedek to Roman Abramovich, and a Goodles food startup that upgrades her beloved macaroni and cheese to a protein-rich version. "I don't want to be just a face on a poster," she said, "I want to be the power that decides which posters get printed in the first place."

Two anti-Israel protesters appeared Thursday near a filming location in London where scenes for "The Runner," starring Gal Gadot, were being shot. The protesters, who expected to see Gadot herself, found themselves demonstrating in front of her stunt double, who was present at the site.

The demonstration, which was posted on Instagram and supported by Palestinian groups, took place near a water canal in Camden, the location where scenes for the film were being shot. The film, directed by Kevin McDonald, is an American thriller in which Gadot plays a successful lawyer in London who must flee through the city streets to save her kidnapped son. British actor Damian Lewis stars alongside her in the film.

The protest was organized after rumors circulated about Gadot's expected arrival at the filming location. A group called "Youth Demand" called on protesters to come to the site, but in the end, they found themselves demonstrating only in front of her stunt double.

Fashion's most exclusive night has revealed its guest list through a recent leak, with Israeli actress Gal Gadot making a notable return to the prestigious Met Gala after a six-year absence from the event.

Gadot last graced the Metropolitan Museum's famous steps in 2019, her only previous appearance at the gala. During that appearance, she wore a striking Claire Waight Keller creation for Givenchy – a white lace mini-dress from the Spring-Summer 2019 collection. She completed the ensemble with over-the-knee black boots, a distinctive headpiece, and approximately $200,000 worth of Tiffany jewelry.

The timing of Gadot's return coincides with heightened public attention surrounding her new film "Snow White," which has generated significant controversy due to her collaboration with co-star Rachel Zegler, who has expressed pro-Palestinian views. According to the leaked list, Zegler will also be attending the Met Gala.

Gadot's fashion evolution has seen significant changes since her 2019 Met Gala appearance. While she previously worked with stylist Elizabeth Stewart for the event, she has since transitioned to stylist Karla Welch, who has transformed Gadot's aesthetic with a more contemporary and youthful approach. Fashion observers anticipate Gadot will likely opt for a classic, elegant look featuring distinctive elements, possibly from fashion houses like Loewe, Armani, or Prada – brands she has collaborated with during the past year.

The star-studded guest list includes entertainment industry luminaries such as Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, Bad Bunny, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, Lana Del Rey, Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, and Katy Perry, among others.

This year's Met Gala theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," will celebrate black dandyism – a cultural aesthetic emphasizing refined personal appearance and grooming among African American men. The theme aligns with the Metropolitan Museum's new exhibition, marking the institution's first focus on men's fashion since 2003.

The event's dress code, "Tailored For You," suggests attendees will showcase bespoke creations designed specifically for them, alongside runway looks from haute couture collections.

Held annually on the first Monday of May, the Met Gala serves as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Under the direction of American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, it has established itself as the fashion industry's most prestigious and anticipated event of the year.

Those familiar with fairy tales understand that stories presented to the public, especially those targeting children, often receive sanitized adaptations that omit darker elements. Then arrived Disney's poisoned apple – or more accurately, their princess: Rachel Zegler.

Until 2022, when she claimed a coveted Golden Globe for her lead performance in "West Side Story," Zegler remained largely unknown by industry standards. Though blessed with a soprano voice capable of producing an impressive range, she had primarily received recognition in high school productions and hadn't attracted enough attention from influential figures to be provided with an essential guide on navigating "the real playground of Hollywood's elite."

Almost immediately after her casting announcement as Snow White opposite Gal Gadot as the evil queen and stepmother, Zegler (23) – whether deliberately or not – repeatedly demonstrated to Disney executives that she, rather than embodying the snow-white, lovable princess with good looks and a pure heart, was herself the poisoned apple.

The petite Zegler revealed herself as a young, opinionated woman with an unrestricted voice who fired off controversial statements without restraint. Her comments ranged from criticizing power dynamics between men and women in the original animated film to launching political attacks against President Donald Trump and expressing explicit support for Palestinians. Her tense relationships with Gadot and Disney executives left studio heads reeling as they realized the public relations quagmire they'd created with her casting.

Despite the film topping North American box office charts, it failed to generate expected revenue and is almost universally regarded as one of Disney's most embarrassing failures, especially considering its budget of hundreds of millions. The primary blame falls on Zegler, as evidenced by an investigation from Variety revealing that following her pro-Palestinian tweet, Disney was forced to increase security around Gadot after threats emerged against her life. Additionally, Jonah Platt, son of film producer Marc Platt, published a scathing post accusing Zegler of injecting her personal political agenda into the film's promotion campaign in ways that clearly damaged its financial performance, describing her behavior as "immature desires" and narcissism.

Zegler became persona non grata and a massive headache for Disney executives, who attempted damage control at every turn – no simple task considering Zegler's position as one of the film's two leads. She refused to back down from her positions, even after reports emerged that Marc Platt had been dispatched to New York to demand she remove her pro-Palestinian tweet during a private meeting – an effort that resulted in embarrassing failure.

Studio executives realized they had no choice but to minimize the platforms where Zegler could express her volatile opinions. They initiated an extensive damage control campaign: interactions between Gadot and Zegler were reduced to absolute minimum requirements, which included a joint Oscar presentation and official premiere attendance. However, these appearances were limited to "in-house" coverage only and lacked the customary celebratory atmosphere associated with releases of this magnitude. Meanwhile, her public and media appearances were meticulously curated.

Wherever Disney could exercise control over Zegler, they did – including sending her to walk red carpets alone at scaled-down premieres in Spain and Japan. Regarding promotional interviews, which typically occur in abundance, Zegler's presence (compared to Gadot's) was significantly diminished, with reports of canceled appearances on "Saturday Night Live," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and "The Drew Barrymore Show."

Has Zegler's career reached its conclusion?

The answer is almost certainly no, at least according to current industry indicators. One must remember that Hollywood is notoriously fickle with a short memory – for better or worse. It's premature to eulogize Zegler's career or conclude she has self-sabotaged her professional trajectory. True, one cannot ignore the real and substantial public and professional backlash she faces, which will likely influence potential collaborators in coming years. However, stepping back reveals a more complex reality in Hollywood's ecosystem.

Will Zegler, who positioned herself as Generation Z's progressive voice and torch-bearer for "WOKE culture," face a fate similar to colleagues like Melissa Barrera, fired from "Scream 7" after expressing support for Palestinians? Or perhaps follow Susan Sarandon, who despite an acclaimed career and Oscar win, found herself effectively blacklisted following her vocal Palestinian support? It remains unclear whether Zegler's situation represents a career-ending moment or merely a temporary setback.

Currently, the primary impact appears limited to her relationship with Disney. The studio will likely maintain tight control until their contractual agreements expire – arrangements unlikely to be renewed in the near future. Beyond this relationship, however, the consequences seem contained. While Zegler withdrew from filming "Paddington in Peru" in October 2023 shortly after the "Iron Swords" war began, media reports attributed this departure to the actors' union strike and her inability to break it as a union member – unrelated to the conflict or her public statements.

Regarding social media, Zegler continues maintaining active accounts and posting content freely, including post-release statements praising colleagues for the wonderful experience working on "Snow White" – conspicuously "forgetting" to mention Gadot while erasing any trace of her presence.

Her stage performances continue uninterrupted. In October 2024, a full year after fighting broke out and long after she had expressed her controversial opinions, she starred on Broadway in "Romeo and Juliet." Her co-star Kit Connor ("Heartstopper") even wore the controversial red Artists4ceasefire pin on his tuxedo lapel during the celebratory premiere. Additionally, Zegler will soon make her West End debut in London as the lead in a new production of "Evita" scheduled to run between June and September.

For those who anticipated Zegler's career demise, disappointment awaits. Since "Snow White" hit theaters, she has continued advancing professionally: recently, her cover version of "Who I'd Be" from the "Shrek" musical appeared on MCC Theatre's album (which ironically also features Ben Platt, son of "Snow White" producer Marc Platt and brother to Jonah Platt, who publicly criticized Zegler).

On March 28, Zegler debuted on CBeebies Bedtime Story – a beloved children's program on BBC's CBeebies channel where celebrities read bedtime stories – presenting "Never Mess with a Pirate Princess" by Holly Ryan. The story concludes with a line many interpret as summarizing Zegler's essence while delivering a perfectly timed jab at her critics: "Never mess with a princess. We can all be powerful princesses. You don't need a king or queen as parents, or a beautiful white horse or even a fancy castle to live in. To be a powerful princess,  you just need to be wonderful, brilliant."

The controversy surrounding "Snow White" continues: Jonah Platt, actor, podcaster and son of "Snow White" producer Marc Platt, attacked actress Rachel Zegler for "stealing" attention from Disney's live-action adaptation promotional campaign for the iconic film, claiming her inflammatory political posts on social media and problematic behavior clearly impacted box office earnings.

The comments, written in response to an Instagram user and since deleted, came following a report by cultural outlet Variety on Tuesday, which exposed the drama behind the scenes in the days leading up to the release of Disney's live-action adaptation of "Snow White." Among other revelations, it was disclosed that the studios paid for additional security for Gal Gadot after she received death threats following Zegler's pro-Palestinian tweet.

Additionally, it was revealed that Disney hired a social media expert to monitor Zegler's content and sent producer Marc Platt to New York to meet with the actress and discuss her political statements – in addition to adjustments they were forced to make in promoting the film due to tensions between Zegler and Gadot. The main adjustment they had to make was minimizing interaction between them as much as possible, even at the film's official premiere.

An Instagram user who apparently supports Zegler wrote to the producer's son: "Your dad flew to NYC to reprimand a young actress? Any words on this? Cuz that's creepy as hell and uncalled for. People have the right to free speech no? Shame on your father."

The comment angered Jonah, who chose to defend his father while sharply condemning Zegler's behavior, which he said jeopardized the success of a film in which hundreds of millions of dollars were invested. "You really want to do this?" he wrote angrily in response.

"Yeah, my dad, the producer of the enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicly for," he wrote.

"Free speech does not mean you're allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions. Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged," he concluded.

Jonah's comments, host of the podcast "Being Jewish," received mixed reactions online. While some users expressed support for his claims and argued that actors should be careful with their public statements, quite a few came out against his criticism, claiming that blaming the film's failure solely on Zegler is a hypocritical and ridiculous move.

"Blaming the entire failure of 'Snow White' on Zegler's politics and not at all on his father's and Disney's politics is ridiculous," one user tweeted. "She didn't make all the diversity, change, and inclusion changes in the film. She was chosen by Disney and by his father," added another user. "He seriously doesn't see the problems in the film itself, just her comments? Progressives are so distorted they have no idea how destructive they are, they never take responsibility," others added.

Despite the film opening at number one, it has struggled to recoup its investment and mostly receives negative reviews and low scores on leading movie rating sites. As of today, its earnings stand at just $87 million worldwide compared to a budget of $270 million, with many critics pointing to several factors for the failure, including the film's "progressive" approach, the use of computer-animated dwarfs instead of casting real actors, and of course the tension between its two leading stars.
