After film director Dan Farah, who made "The Age of Disclosure," claimed that US President Donald Trump would soon announce the existence of aliens, the internet was filled with discussions on the subject – in alien enthusiast communities, on YouTube, on social networks, and in podcasts that addressed this speculation.

Israeli illusionist Uri Geller appeared on Sharon Gal's i24NEWS program to discuss the subject and share his experiences. According to him, both the US president and Netanyahu know that aliens indeed exist. "Trump has known there are aliens on Earth for decades already," Geller said.

He added and described his personal experiences, saying, "A German Nazi scientist took me to a NASA base, here are the photos, there are people who don't believe I met Dr. Wernher von Braun." Geller showed the photo to the camera, adding, "Next to me stood astronaut Edgar Mitchell, who was on the moon, and Dr. von Braun is showing me part of a UFO, and we're alone. We enter a refrigerator, and I'm not an idiot and not hypnotized, with my own eyes I see bodies of aliens lying in glass tubes, frozen, some wounded."

Gal interrupted him, saying, "People watch this at home and raise an eyebrow." Geller responded, "I don't care, Donald Trump knows this, Bibi knows about it, there are people connected to the entire subject of aliens." Geller continued and described how the aliens looked, saying, "Like we're used to seeing alien bodies, with big eyes. I was in shock."

President Isaac Herzog on Monday gathered about 100 mayors and local councils at the President's House to promote an outline for negotiations regarding the judicial reform.

"We are closer than ever to the possibility of an agreed outline. There are agreements behind the scenes on most things. Now it's up to our national leadership, the Coalition, and the Opposition, to rise to the magnitude of the moment, to understand the terrible alternative that is hidden in the situation beyond the door, and to put the country and the citizens above everything else," Herzog told the local officials.

The president noted that the outline he was working to formulate "gives answers to both sides."

"It includes diversity of the judiciary and extensive reflection of the defenders of opinions and communities. It lays down important and historical constitutional foundations, it anchors a healthy structure of balance between the authorities, it protects democracy and human rights at all costs, and on the independence of the judicial system. It protects the minorities and protects the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state based on the principles of the Declaration of Independence," he said.

Herzog also shared his concerns over the deepening crisis in Israeli society caused by the division over the proposed reforms. He noted that local authorities are the ones who face the consequences of this division as there is a "dramatic increase in inquiries in the field of mental health" due to people being worried about the ongoing crisis.

"We are in a historic crisis that threatens to destroy us from within. We are in one of the most difficult moments that the State of Israel has experienced. It seems like a paradox, doesn't it? No missiles, no alarms, no red alert. But we all know deep down that this is a supreme national danger," he underlined.

Herzog called on the local authorities, who according to the president, have "enormous power" to "demand with every tool you have" to reach a settlement that would calm the tensions.

Opposition leaders Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz in response jointly said they appreciated Herzog's efforts and accused Prime Minister Netanyahu of refusing to halt the reform hearings to find a compromise.

"Every reaching out of our hand for the unity of Israel was met with trampling and refusal. Israel is on the brink of a national emergency, and Netanyahu refuses to stop. We greatly respect and appreciate the efforts of the President of the State to reach broad negotiations and agreements. But in order to reach honest and effective negotiations that will lead to preserving democracy and the unity of the people, Netanyahu must announce a complete, comprehensive, and real halt to the legislative process," they said in a statement, adding that "all attempts at shortcuts are a trampling of real dialogue."

The next government led by prime minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu puts Israeli democracy at risk, according to a New York Times op-ed published on Saturday.

According to the paper, the new cabinet that Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu will soon swear in appears could be a danger to Israel's efforts to reconcile its Jewish character with liberal democratic values.

"While Mr. Netanyahu clearly has the support of the Israeli electorate, his coalition's victory was narrow and cannot be seen as a broad mandate to make concessions to ultrareligious and ultranationalist parties that are putting the ideal of a democratic Jewish state in jeopardy," the editorial says. "This board has been a strong supporter of Israel and a two-state solution for many years, and we remain committed to that support. Antisemitism is on the rise around the globe, and at least some of the criticism of Israel is the result of such hatred."

According to the article, the position of the members of the government could make it militarily and politically impossible to achieve a two-state solution. The administration of US President Joe Biden, according to the newspaper, will have to do everything in its power to voice its support for equal rights and the rule of law in Israel. "America's support for Israel reflects our two countries' respect for democratic ideals. President Biden and Mr. Netanyahu should do everything they can to reaffirm that commitment," the paper said.

The American daily notes, in the process, that Jewish Power party leader Itamar Ben-Gvir was convicted of terrorism, that Religious Zionist Party leader Bezalel Smotrich is a fervent supporter of the annexation of West Bank territories, and that Noam party leader Avi Maoz describes himself as "proud homophobic."

Six million European Jews were murdered by Germany's Nazis and their henchmen during World War II.

"Never in human history was there a campaign like the one the Nazis and their accomplices conducted to annihilate the Jewish people," Israeli President Isaac Herzog told lawmakers at the Bundestag.

"Never in history was a state responsible, as Nazi Germany was responsible, for the loss of all semblance of humanity, for the erasure of all mercy, for the pursuit of the worldwide obliteration, with such awful cruelty, of an entire people."

Herzog also spoke about his father, former Israeli President Chaim Herzog, who was among the liberators of the concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen in northern Germany in April 1945, as an officer of the British forces.

"I shall never forget how he described to me the horrors he witnessed. The stench. The human skeletons in striped pajamas, the piles of corpses, the destruction, the hell on earth," the Israeli president told German lawmakers. During the address, Herzog put on a yarmulke and recited the prayer of Yizkor in memory of those who were murdered by the Nazis. "Only the dead have the right to forgive... the living have no right to forget," he said, echoing the words of his father.

"We must continue learning and teaching about the Holocaust. Investigating it without fear or restriction, looking squarely at reality as it is. Waging an all-out war on Holocaust denial. Studying the conditions that led to it. Leaving no stone unturned," Herzog said, urging Germany to "declare all-out war on antisemitism and racism: stiff, clear, and unyielding."

Herzog noted that for centuries "Jewish titans of culture, intellect, and science" contributed to German society and called on further deepening the partnership between Israel and Germany.

On Tuesday afternoon, Herzog and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier are set to visit the site of the former concentration camp. After a tour of the memorial site, the two presidents are expected to meet with survivors and German high school students.

The Israeli president arrived for a state visit to Germany earlier this week that also included a trip to Munich on Monday where he participated in the 50-year anniversary ceremony for the 11 Israeli athletes murdered by Palestinian militants at the 1972 Olympic Games.

Looking forward, Herzog praised close relations between the two countries and their joint commitment to fight antisemitism.

"The partnership between Israel and Germany has achieved global renown, and we must continue deepening and cultivating it, for the benefit of a brilliant future not only for our countries but for the whole of humanity," he said in parliament.

Several months after the Palestinian-American reporter Shireen Abu Akleh was shot and killed when she was caught in the crossfire between IDF troops and terrorists, i24NEWS reported Sunday that the findings of the IDF internal investigation will likely be released in the coming days, amid US pressure to share the whole gamut of evidence that may have been obtained in the wake of the incident, which Israel said was caused by terrorists who fired in her direction.

The Al-Jazeera journalist was shot while reporting on the IDF raid in the Jenin area, although it is unclear who shot her. A US ballistics analysis based on the Israeli and Palestinian inquiries was inconclusive because the bullet extracted from her body had been too damaged.

But despite not blaming either side, US forensics officials said aid it was more likely that the bullet came from an IDF soldier who had mistakenly fired in her direction during the chaotic moments when the IDF was battling terrorists.

The decision to publish the final IDF report "follows pressure from the administration of US President Joe Biden and after the visit of Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf to Israel over the weekend," i24NEWS reported.

The Palestinians accused Israel in late May of "deliberate murder."

Inna Yashchyshyn, a 33-year-old Ukrainian, posed as an heiress to the Rothschild dynasty in an effort to infiltrate Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate and gain access to the former US president, US media reported on Sunday.

To support the deception, she had two false passports, an American and a Canadian, under the name of Anna de Rothschild. According to the investigative piece, published Friday by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) together with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, she talked about a $13 million mansion in Miami that she actually never set foot in, as well as her childhood in Monaco and family wineries.

The scheme worked very well for a while as the young woman took part in chic dinners with VIP members of the south Florida club, even posing with Trump in person on the green after a round of golf.

In real life, Yashchyshyn comes from a family originally from Ukraine living in the United States, and her father is a truck driver. This is not the first time that Trump's residence in Mar-a-Lago has been the target of an infiltration.

This has raised concerns with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the domestic intelligence and security service of the US, as the former president is suspected of having stored there top-secret documents taken at the end of his term in the White House. The investigation now includes this case of infiltration as well.

Three years ago, a Chinese national also entered a restricted area by telling lies to two security guards. She told one that she wanted to use the pool, and the other that she was a member of a Chinese-American Association.

She was eventually arrested with two Chinese passports, $8,000 in cash, four cell phones, a computer, a hard drive, and a flash drive with malware in her possession. She was later sentenced to eight months in prison and deported to China.

Israel's Maccabi Haifa soccer club on Tuesday advanced to the Champions League group stage for the first time in over a decade, beating Serbia's Red Star Belgrade 5-4 on aggregate in the Balkan country.

Following a thrilling 3-2 win at Sammy Ofer Stadium in the northern Israel city of Haifa last week, Maccabi's win came in dramatic style on a 90th-minute own-goal from the Serbian side, clinching the 2-2 tie.

The win means Israel's "Greens" will join 31 other teams in European soccer's biggest competition, where it will compete against the best-of-the-best teams for a shot at the UEFA Championship.

It will be Maccabi Haifa's third-ever appearance in the group stage, and the first for an Israeli team since Maccabi Tel Aviv's run in 2015. Haifa found itself in a hole early after a goal in the 27th minute and another score 15 minutes later, going down 2-0.

But seconds after an Israeli penalty shot was blocked, Maccabi defender Daniel Sundgren sent a strike from almost 100 feet out to make the score 2-1 heading into halftime. As a scoreless second half came to a close and the teams headed to a tie on aggregate – the combined number of goals scored over two or more games – a corner kick by Maccabi's Omer Atzili was awkwardly deflected by a Serbian player, sending it into his own net to give Israel the lead and the win.

"You've brought great pride to all Israelis," Israel's Prime Minister Yair Lapid said in a congratulatory message to the team. "We'll be crossing our fingers for you in the Champions League."

Having a military contingency plan against Iran's nuclear program is a moral obligation, IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi said on Sunday.

Kochavi, who spoke at the installment of a new homefront command, said that "making preparations within the homefront for the even of war must be accelerated over the next few years, particularly because we might be required to act against the nuclear threat posed by Iran."

Follow Israel Hayom on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

Kochavi said that it would be irresponsible not to envision a scenario in which military action would potentially be necessary. "Blocking Iran's path to nuclearization through diplomacy is the preferred option, but history has shown time and again that diplomacy can fail or only be a shortlived success."

His comments come against the backdrop of ongoing threats by Iran against Israel and a string of mysterious deaths of its scientists and key operatives that has been blamed on Israel's alleged clandestine sabotage efforts.

"The IDF must prepare for any contingency and development," he said. "Preparing a military option against Iran's nuclear program is a moral imperative and a national security necessity; it is at the heart of our preparations, with many operational plans and resources allocated to it in order to have combat worthiness should the political echelon decide to use it."

On Sunday senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei told Al Jazeera that Tehran is technically capable of making a nuclear bomb but has yet to decide whether to build one.

"In a few days, we were able to enrich uranium up to 60%, and we can easily produce 90% enriched uranium... Iran has the technical means to produce a nuclear bomb, but there has been no decision by Iran to build one," Kamal Kharrazi said.

Turkey detained suspects allegedly working for an Iranian intelligence cell that planned to kidnap and assassinate a former Israeli ambassador and tourists visiting or living in Istanbul, Turkish media reported Thursday.

"MİT [the national intelligence organization] and police have received information that kidnappings and killings were planned against Israelis living or visiting as tourists in Istanbul and against a former Israeli ambassador and his wife who were staying at a hotel in the Beyoğlu district," the Hurriyet Daily News reported.

Follow Israel Hayom on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

The report said a former Israeli ambassador and his wife were staying in a hotel in Istanbul's Beyoglu district. Nearly ten suspects, who were not all Iranian nationals, were detained in a raid on three houses.  The intelligence agents were disguised as students, while members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards were undercover as businessmen and tourists to kidnap and to assassinate Israelis.

The Iranians had split into four groups of two assassins who could better track their Israeli targets. "The hitmen in the assassination team, who settled in two separate rooms on the second and fourth floors of a hotel in Beyoglu, were (detained) with a large number of weapons and ammunition," the local Turkish broadcaster IHA said. According to the report, "the intelligence agency of Israel, Mossad have taken the targeted citizens from their addresses and sent them to Tel Aviv on a private plane."

Israel has in recent weeks urged its citizens to leave Turkey immediately because of "possible" threats from Iranian operatives.

Iran and Israel have been engaged in a years-long shadow war but tensions have ratcheted up following a string of high-profile incidents Tehran has blamed on Israel. The Islamic republic claimed Israel was responsible for the killing of Revolutionary Guards Col. Sayyad Khodai in his Tehran home on May 22. The reported detentions are likely to come up during a visit to Ankara later on Thursday by Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, who is expected to take charge as prime minister of a caretaker government in coming days. Turkey's relations with Israel have been improving after years of tensions and tourism is central to the two countries' economic ties.
