At least 10% of the Palestinians who were arrested in recent years were legally allowed to be in Israel, according to information exclusively obtained by Israel Hayom.

The information, compiled by the Knesset Research and Information Center in a new report, further shows that this statistic has risen sharply in the span of several years.

The document was composed at the request of Hanoch Milwidsky from Likud, together with right-wing watchdog Im Tirtzu. An analysis of the data shows that between 2018-2022, some 21,000 Palestinians were arrested for terror-related offenses. About 10% of them (2,115) had been issued entry permits that allowed them to cross over the Green Line: In 2018 the number stood at 212, but by 2021 this had already risen to 767, perhaps in light of the additional domestic strife surrounding Operation Guardian of the Walls in Gaza. In 2022 the number of entry permit holders who were arrested dropped slightly to 580.

Some 18% of the permit-holders who were arrested in those years had already entered Israel when they were arrested, the figures show. In 2022, in the wake of several terrorist attacks, the IDF began sealing the gaps in the security barrier but as of June 2023, the Israel Police still does not have an official estimate as to how many Palestinians cross over into Israel. According to the Shin Bet security agency, some 7,000 Palestinians enter Israel daily without the proper documentation.

"A rise of 35% in terrorist-related offenses among Palestinian permit holders is unacceptable, " Milwidsky said in reaction to the report. "We will not allow Israelis' security to be compromised just so Palestinians have a better economic life. I will ask the head of the Foreign Affairs and Defense COmmittee Yuli Edelstein to convene a hearing on the policy for issuing permits."

Im Tirtzu Head of Policy Alon Schwartzer told Israel Hayom that "it is beyond the pale that the right of livelihood of Arabs in Judea and Samaria would trump the right to life and security of Israeli citizens." He added, "The data on the involvement in terrorism among permit holders who use them to visit prisoners suggests that all relevant agencies must act immediately to reduce the availability of such permits. We call on the head of the Foreign Affairs and Defense COmmittee to convene an urgent meeting on the matter and demand answers from the security establishment."

Officials from the Office of the European Union Representative met Tuesday with members of the six Palestinian groups that Israel had designated as terrorist organizations.

The move was announced last week by Defense Minister Benny Gantz following an investigation that, according to Israeli officials, proves that the groups, which are ostensibly designed to promote human rights or operate as civil society organizations, are in fact linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The PFLP is a terrorist group designated, among others, by Israel, the United States, and the EU.

Posting through its special "EU and Palestinians" Twitter handle after the meeting, the EU representative's office said it took the matter seriously and asked Israel for an explanation as to why it decided to outlaw the groups.

It also tweeted that "past allegations of the misuse of EU funds by certain Palestinian CSO [civil society organizations] partners have not been substantiated."

The 27-member bloc further stressed it will continue "to stand by international law" and support the groups in "promoting human rights and democratic values."

The move garnered harsh criticism from right-wing watchdog groups Im Tirtzu and Lach Yerushalayim.

"The European Union should be ashamed," they said in a joint statement. "Apart from turning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a thriving business, in which propaganda and terrorist organizations profit and make a living from the conflict, it has never acted or did anything to calm the tensions.

"The European Union's subversion and colonial gall know no bounds. We very much hope that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will not show weakness, but rather stand firm against this foreign and intolerable interference."

Bereaved families protested outside the King David Hotel in Jerusalem Sunday during a cabinet meeting that was attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The protest was organized by the Im Tirztu right-wing watchdog group and other organizations that work with bereaved families. Demonstrators claimed that over the past last decade alone, Germany has transferred 84 million shekels ($26 million) to propaganda organizations that are hostile to Israel and provide legal assistance to Palestinian terrorists.

According to data collected by the watchdog, the German government had directly and indirectly funded about 34 propaganda organizations that have extreme left-wing views, including an organization that promotes refusal by Israeli youngsters to get drafted into the IDF.

In a letter to Merkel, heads of Im Tirztu and other forums wrote, "As you must know, the German government transfers directly (via the German Foreign Ministry) and indirectly (through government foundations) hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions, of euros each year to Israeli political organizations affiliated with the extreme Left."

It stressed that German funds were used to fund organizations that support the anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, which work to encourage international pressure on Israel, attempt to change its immigration policy and even try to change Israel's policy of war on terror "through legal proceedings and international pressure."

"The government funding that Germany transfers to political organizations in Israel is a despicable and anti-democratic political subversion. It is a waste of the German taxpayer's money," the letter said .

The Islamic Movement is perpetuating violence in Jerusalem and is putting Israel's sovereignty over the capital into jeopardy, a report published Sunday ahead of Jerusalem Day by right-wing watchdog group Im Tirtzu warns.

Follow Israel Hayom on Facebook and Twitter

According to the report, officials from the Southern Branch promote clashes in the capital and on Temple Mount by working with several "charitable" organizations, including the Al-Aqsa Foundation, to transports thousands of Muslims to the site and East Jerusalem.

The capital is one of several Israeli cities considered by the organization "front lines" for the "struggle against infidels." The rest of Israel, according to them, is "land captured by those infidels."

The report also showed that the Al-Aqsa Foundation has in recent years received substantial funding from foreign charitable organizations, like Moscow-based Solidarity Charitable Foundation, whose founder is a known Hamas sympathizer.

According to Im Tirtzu, Israel is losing its sovereignty over Jerusalem to extreme Islamists, exacerbated by the lack of response on behalf of political leaders over the latest wave of violence on the Temple Mount and East Jerusalem.

"The Israeli government must wake up, otherwise the nation will lose the place it cherishes the most," it said.

The Israel Police announced on Saturday night that it arrested an Israeli-Arab man from Daburiyya for allegedly inciting to murder Jews during a demonstration in Haifa, Israel Hayom reported.

The man was arrested after he reportedly called on the participants to murder Jews and kidnap IDF soldiers.

The event was held in solidarity with hunger-striking Palestinian Maher al-Akhras, who is affiliated with the terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The protest was organized by the extreme "Hirak Haifa" group, which regularly holds anti-Israel protests in Haifa.

Twenty scientists, including an Israeli professor, are urging their counterparts to boycott the International Physics Olympiad set to be held in Israel in July.

The International Physics Olympiad is the top international physics competition for high school students. It includes competitors from some 80 countries.

According to The Jewish Press, Professor Emeritus Emmanuel Dror Farjoun of the Einstein Institute of Mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is among the letter's signatories.

The letter, published on the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement's official website, was signed by Farjoun and 19 other academics who called Israel an "apartheid state" and urged foreign students and the organizers to boycott the event.

"We call on all students and mentors from all over the world not to participate in the next International Physics Olympiad in Israel. We call on the boards of other International Science Olympiads to refrain from organizing their future contests in Israel, as long as it continues its military occupation and apartheid policy, in defiance of international law," the letter read.

According to the report, Farjoun, who is the only Israeli academic to lend his support to the call to boycott the olympiad, has been a supporter of the BDS movement since 2006.

In the past, he even supported an academic boycott of the Hebrew University, where he taught.

Matan Peleg, CEO of the right-wing Im Tirtzu organization said Farjoun's move was indicative of the fact that the Hebrew University "is plagued by a moral and ethical crisis."

"It is disgraceful that Hebrew University, which is supposed to be a beacon of academic light, has become a political incubator of anti-Zionist professors who devote their lives to attacking the State of Israel," he said.

Professor Amiram Goldblum, a senior lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, called Zionist student activists "Nazi dogs" and threatened to prevent them from getting accepted into advanced degree programs, the Makor Rishon newspaper reported last week.

Goldblum, an outspoken critic of Israel who serves on the public council of the left-wing New Israel Fund, made the remarks in the comments section of an article about a new website launched by right-wing Zionist group Im Tirtzu that lists Israeli professors who teach at publicly funded universities yet engage in "anti-democratic, anti-Zionist" activity.

"The Nazi dogs at Im Tirtzu can't do anything to me," wrote Goldblum. "Now I promise: I will photograph every Im Tirtzu scum on campus and publicize their names as much as I can so that teachers know who they shouldn't accept to advanced degrees."

Dozens of students at Hebrew University affiliated with Im Tirtzu were shocked to learn of Goldblum's remarks and submitted a formal complaint to the university.

The university condemned the remarks but stated: "Hebrew University is not responsible for the remarks made by its professors and it is not its role to deal with them, so long as the academic podium is not being exploited to disseminate these ideas. In this instance, the university rector made it unequivocally clear to Prof. Goldblum that he cannot act this way towards students."

Despite the rector's warning, Goldblum said that if a student enters his class wearing an Im Tirtzu shirt, he will refuse to continue teaching and will "call security."

"Im Tirtzu's intention is to harm professors and I am unwilling to speak in the atmosphere created by Im Tirtzu activists, and that is what I told the university administration," said Goldblum.

Yuval Brami, Im Tirtzu's Hebrew University branch coordinator, called Goldblum's remarks "outrageous" and accused the university of turning a blind eye toward them.

"It is outrageous that a professor in Hebrew University would dare to prevent students from studying in his class due to their personal views and social affiliation," said Brami.  "What is even worse," continued Brami, "is that the university does not see fit to deal with this issue at all."

Likud MK Keti Shitrit called Goldblum's remarks a "red line" and asked to be informed of any further developments on the subject.

Im Tirtzu CEO Matan Peleg said that Goldblum's actions are reminiscent of a "tyrannical regime" that tries to stifle different opinions and freedom of expression.

"Every student has the right to voice his or her support for Israel and IDF soldiers. It is a disgrace for anyone to try and shut this down," said Peleg.
