Pro-Palestinian protesters attacked a Jewish professor while he was teaching at City University of London, calling to "behead him" and labeling him a "terrorist" who should be imprisoned for serving in the IDF and his alleged involvement in Sabra and Shatila. In an interview with British broadcaster Sky News, he declared he will continue teaching as usual and said, "An entire defamation industry has been created against Israel and against Jews. They are looking for new targets."

Michael Ben-Gad, a British-born Jewish professor who teaches economics at a London university, testified that the masked protesters burst into his lecture. "I finished my lecture, protesters stood right in front of my face and called me a war criminal and a Nazi. They refused to leave. One of them threatened they would behead me," Ben-Gad said. The professor, who served in the IDF during the 1980s, said during the interview that it was not only his military service that disturbed the protesters who invaded his classroom. "The other accusations against me were that I studied at the Hebrew University, that I taught at the University of Haifa, and that I worked at the Central Bank of Israel," Ben-Gad said.

In a video posted on social media by the pro-Palestinian organization City Action for Palestine, the masked protesters can be seen shouting slogans against Israel and demanding his dismissal. According to him, the protest repeated itself this week, when the same activists entered his classroom again. Despite the threats, Ben-Gad remained resolute and said in the interview, "I intend to continue fulfilling my role. My students are entitled to at least that from me." He expressed pride in having served in the IDF. "Israel is a country under siege. It has 7.5 million Jews, and without the Israel Defense Forces, they would simply be annihilated," Ben-Gad said.

After the harsh documentation was published, Professor Ben-Gad testified that these represent a "small radical handful" of the whole, and that he received massive waves of support from around the world. "I have been teaching at the university for close to twenty years, my background has never been kept secret. There is a huge Muslim community present here. The students here are remarkably polite. No one confronted me about it until last week," Ben-Gad said.

A City University of London spokesperson stated that the institution "fully supports freedom of expression within the law" but "will not tolerate harassment of staff and students." The university's statement also noted that it "will continue to protect its employees and students on campus."

In a post published by the pro-Palestinian organization, it was written that "Ben-Gad served in Israeli occupation forces during the Sabra and Shatila massacre in 1982, in which thousands of Palestinian and Lebanese men, women, and children were brutally murdered. The IDF, which Ben-Gad continues to support, is carrying out settler colonialism, ethnic cleansing, and indiscriminate bombings." The organization further claimed that the ceasefire does not exist and that "the Zionist project's campaign of extermination against the Palestinian people continues."

Good news arrives for Harry Potter enthusiasts worldwide as filming has commenced for the television series in London, marking the franchise's return to screens nearly 15 years after the final movie installment. Users on social media platforms shared videos showing the iconic characters Harry Potter and Hagrid walking through London's bustling streets while traffic came to a complete halt for production crews.

The television series will chronicle the adventures of beloved characters Harry, Ron, and Hermione during their time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, focusing on the core storyline that originally captivated global audiences. This approach represents a significant departure from recent franchise extensions such as "Fantastic Beasts," which explored the wizarding world's earlier timeline rather than the central narrative that made J.K. Rowling's creation a worldwide phenomenon.

Production activity throughout London created extraordinary scenes as city traffic stopped to accommodate filming requirements, generating widespread social media coverage that amplified fan anticipation for the upcoming series. The street filming sessions provided fans with their first glimpse of the television adaptation that promises to return directly to the source material's rich storytelling foundation.

Actor Nick Frost, cast as Hagrid, appeared dramatically larger than lead child actor Dominic McLaughlin, cast as Harry, during the recent filming for HBO's highly anticipated Harry Potter television series, as per the iconic scenes of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." Frost's transformation included body doubles and facial prosthetics to create the beloved character's massive frame, according to the Daily Mail. Scottish McLaughlin, age 11, portrayed the iconic Harry Potter protagonist while wearing the character's signature glasses and a 90s-style blue, green, and yellow rain jacket. The young performer completed his look with wide-leg jeans and a backpack as he walked alongside Nick Frost's towering Hagrid character.

Nick Frost, the 53-year-old Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead star, wore long curly hair and a matching beard for his transformation into the beloved groundskeeper role originally played by Robbie Coltrane during the Borough High Street filming near London Bridge.

Filming for the HBO program, first announced in April 2023, reached a major milestone in May when the three lead child stars were finally revealed after months of speculation. Dominic McLaughlin secured the protagonist role, while Arabella Stanton will portray Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout takes on Ron Weasley.

The filming created significant traffic disruption throughout the capital as cast members were photographed outside various London establishments. TikTok users shared footage of the production, writing commentary about Hagrid's scenes being filmed at locations representing the iconic Leaky Cauldron pub.

The initial glimpses have created division among dedicated Harry Potter fans who flooded social media platforms with mixed reactions. Critics expressed skepticism about adapting the beloved franchise, with one user writing, "Why ruin something good?" referring to the original movie adaptation. Others voiced reluctant interest, stating "I know it's going to be bad, but I'll watch it" and "Harry Potter is amazing and loved by all ages. The movies are absolutely timeless. This series... just not needed in my opinion!"

Supporters welcomed the new adaptation and casting choices. "New Harry is exactly what my mind created when I first read the book," one fan commented, while additional positive responses included "This looks great!" and "This looks good, so maybe it might work after all."

Eighteen young Jews from London successfully completed a challenging journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa's highest mountain – as part of a charity initiative supporting Israel and strengthening Jewish identity at home, according to a report published by Jewish News.

The group, whose members are in their twenties and thirties, raised approximately Β£100,000 to fund a new medical center in Israel, in partnership with the UJIA organization.

The 8-day journey, which began on July 7, was organized by the "Brondesbury Park Young Jewish Professionals" (BPark YJP) network, led by Rabbi Meir Levin and his wife Libby.

The participants carried an Israeli flag to the summit and left a poster of hostage Avinatan Or, one of the Israelis kidnapped on October 7, at the peak, which stands 5,895 meters above sea level. A photo of this gesture was sent to Or's family.

Participants carried an Israeli flag to the summit and left a hostage poster of Avinatan Or – one of the Israelis kidnapped on 7 October – at the 5,895m peak. A photograph of the tribute has since been shared with Or's family.

"This trip was created to help young Jews connect more deeply with Israel and to truly live their Judaism," Rabbi Levin said. "From the Ruach on Friday night to the group spirit that pushed everyone to reach the top, it was genuinely magical."

Shabbat on the mountain

The journey was also a powerful expression of Jewish unity. The group spent Shabbat on the mountain, shared kosher meals prepared at high altitude, and created deep community connections across the entire religious spectrum.

"Shabbat on the mountain was one of the most spiritual and meaningful experiences I've ever had," said Sophie Engler. "This trip reminded me that, despite everything going on in the world, there's so much value in switching off, reflecting, and forming strong connections with others."

"Since 7 October, so many young Jews have been searching for ways to connect with Israel and other like-minded young Jews," said Edward Isaacs, one of the participants. "I'm so grateful to have been part of something that allowed us to do that – while proudly being Jewish every step of the way."

The idea was conceived at the end of 2024 by Rabbi Levin and Johnny Rosen, who together established the "BPark YJP" network to provide a meaningful and inclusive platform for young Jewish professionals through events, dinners, and now, global challenges.

"Despite the obvious physical and mental challenges, this trip exceeded my expectations in every way," Rosen said. "We achieved a 100 percent summit success rate – rare for a group of our size – and we're excited to build on this momentum."

A Jewish-owned real estate office in London's Stamford Hill neighborhood endured a brutal vandalism attack overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, with community leaders condemning it as a clear act of antisemitism.

In the morning, the office revealed a grim scene – windows smashed, computers and furniture wrecked, and red paint poured across the entire space. The pavement outside was defaced with the spray-painted words "Drop Elbit," seemingly referencing the Israeli defense firm Elbit Systems, a defense industry leader.

Rabbi Hershel Gluck, president of the Shomrim organization and a local resident, stated, "This must be treated as an undeniably antisemitic incident. The owners are Jewish, but they have no connection to Israel."

Local footage shared on social media likened the attack to the Holocaust-era attacks on Jews under Nazi rule. "Kristallnacht. Welcome to the Jewish neighborhood of Stamford Hill, where Jews are not allowed to own businesses because Israel is at war with Gaza," one user wrote.

The Israeli Embassy in Britain, pro-Israel organizations, and students demonstrated Monday evening at the London School of Economics (LSE) in protest against the launch of a new book that whitewashes the crimes of October 7. The book is titled "Understanding Hamas and Why It Matters," written by Helena Cobban and Rami George Khouri, and it provides readers with a lenient and positive interpretation of the murderous terror organization and its actions.

Israeli Ambassador to Britain Tzipi Hotovely approached the president of LSE University immediately upon learning about the event. She asked him to cancel the launch, emphasizing that the event ignores the fact that Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization in Britain and that such an event legitimizes the organization.

Queen Elizabeth II appears on a screen via video link from Windsor Castle, where she is in residence, during a virtual audience to receive Tzipi Hotovely (center), Ambassador from the State of Israel, and Or Hay Alon (right), at Buckingham Palace on July 7, 2021, in London, England (Photo: Jonathan Brady/Getty Images) Getty Images

Additionally, Hotovely noted in her letter that "The book gives a platform to Hamas propaganda," and also highlighted the distortions and denial of the atrocities that occurred on October 7. Despite this, the university president decided to continue with the event, claiming it was "in the name of free speech."

In protest against the book's content and the approval to launch it within the university walls, the embassy and Israel supporters initiated a noisy demonstration that took place throughout the launch event. During the protest, among other things, posters of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, who were killed in Hamas captivity and whose bodies were returned to Israel, were displayed.

Israeli Ambassador to Britain Hotovely said, "This pro-Hamas gathering fuels the increasing waves of hate that Israeli and Jewish students experience in Britain, even more so since the outbreak of the war. The Israeli Embassy in Britain views the holding of this event with great severity and will continue to act against such events in the future as well."

Tower Bridge in London has been closed in both directions Monday morning after a man was spotted sitting on its railings, a day after a protester scaled the iconic Big Ben clock tower at the UK Parliament while carrying a Palestinian flag. It was still unclear what the motive for the latest incident in London was, and footage shown on social media did not have the man bearing any propaganda signs of flags.

"The bridge will reopen shortly. Thank you for your patience," the London police said after the man was brought down, without elaborating. "The man has safely come down from the railings on Tower Bridge."

The previous incident, at the Big Ben atop the UK Parliament's building, saw a barefoot demonstrator, dressed entirely in black, clinging to the side of the historic tower for several hours while emergency services attempted to communicate with him, according to CNN.

Metropolitan Police reported they were first alerted to the climber around 7:30 a.m. local time on Saturday. The protester's actions drew large crowds to Parliament Square, with authorities closing Westminster Bridge in both directions as a safety measure, significantly impacting central London traffic.

"The man had been arrested after the protracted incident," London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Sunday, confirming that all roads in the area have since reopened.

In a separate incident over the weekend, activists vandalized a Trump-owned golf course in Scotland. The group Palestine Action claimed responsibility, stating the action was "in response to the American administration's plans and threats to destroy, ethnically cleanse, and 'take over' the Palestinian Gaza Strip."

London School of Economics and Political Science is scheduled to host a book launch in two weeks for a controversial book titled "Understanding Hamas and Why That Matters". The book features activists from Israel and around the world who whitewash the terrorist organization responsible for murdering 1,200 Israelis on Oct. 7, 2023, and kidnapping 250 others.

The book, authored by Helena Cobban and Rami G. Khouri, is described on Amazon by its creators as an attempt to explain the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "Across Western mainstream discourse, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has been subjected to intense vilification, branding it as "terrorist", with its demonization intensifying after the events in Southern Israel on October 7, 2023," the authors state.

"Critical shift from social activism to political engagement"

The authors contend that "this book does not advocate for or against Hamas," but rather "aims to deepen understanding of a movement that is a key player in the current crisis," through dialogues with leading experts. "It looks at, among other things, Hamas' critical shift from social and religious activism to national political engagement; the delicate balance between Hamas's political and military wings; and its transformation from early anti-Jewish tendencies to a stance that differentiates between Judaism and Zionism."

"The planned event in London is horrifying, absurd, and a model of bad taste," Sacha Roytman, CEO of the Combat Antisemitism Movement, said. "There is no legitimacy of any kind for a murderous terrorist organization that proved its demonic nature on Oct. 7 – and has since proven its inhumanity, as in the appalling murder of the Bibas family and countless other painful and shocking cases.

The book's cover and event details on LSE's website. Screenshot: https://www.lse.ac.uk/middle-east-centre/events/2025/understanding-hamas-why-that-matters

There is no place, in higher education institutions or anywhere else, for antisemitism, justification of acts of terrorism or murder, and statements that constitute, directly or indirectly, backing for acts of violence against Jews. We will continue to work to expose the true face of additional international entities infected with hatred of Jews."

"We will never promote hatred"

The book sparked immediate outrage in Israel and worldwide upon its initial publication. After a bookstore in Los Angeles offered the book for sale, several dozen pro-Israel demonstrators gathered to express their firm opposition to what they described as whitewashing of the murderous terrorist organization.

Following the protest, the bookstore announced they would remove the book from their shelves. "We will remove this book from the shelves immediately. We believe in peace and will never promote hatred, hate speech, or ideas that promote bloodshed of any kind."

Floyd Mayweather was evacuated from London's Hatton Garden jewelry district after being confronted by protesters over his support for Israel, according to a report by The Sun.

The undefeated boxing champion was shopping for luxury watches and jewelry when he encountered a group of eight to ten individuals who challenged him about his stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to The Sun. Security footage shows Mayweather being quickly escorted into a black SUV and driven away from the scene.

The former boxer had recently demonstrated his backing for Israel through several high-profile visits following Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023,Β  attacks, in which more than 1,000 people were killed – mostly civilians – and 250 were taken hostage by Hamas. He also made a $100,000 donation to Israel's United Hatzalah organization.

Last month, Mayweather hosted a barbecue at an Israel Defense Forces military base and met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he publicly encouraged to "never back down."

A witness told The Sun that the incident lasted approximately two minutes, with at least one person allegedly attempting to strike Mayweather. However, in an Instagram post, Mayweather clarified that he emerged from the confrontation unharmed and was not physically touched

This is not the first time Mayweather has faced public criticism over his position on the conflict. Earlier this year, during a Las Vegas press conference for his new vape brand launch, an activist confronted him, and his security team confiscated a Palestinian flag, leading to loud chants of "Free Palestine" from attendees.
