The attack unfolded across three locations in Holon. It began at an Egged bus parking lot, where a man in his 30s was moderately to seriously injured. The terrorist then moved to a nearby park, where he attacked the Daniv couple, who were using public exercise equipment. The rampage concluded at a gas station, where a man in his 80s was fatally stabbed.

The 34-year-old attacker, who was in Israel illegally and had no prior security offenses, was shot and killed by police at the final location.

Emergency services responded quickly, describing the scene as "complex and difficult" with victims spread over a 500-meter area. The injured were rushed to Wolfson Medical Center, where the elderly man was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The terrorist, who was in Israel illegally and had no prior security-related offenses, was shot by a police officer and died en route to Shamir Medical Center. Law enforcement deployed substantial forces to the area, conducting extensive searches with helicopter support to rule out the possibility of additional suspects.

In the aftermath of the attack, law enforcement conducted extensive searches to ensure there were no additional suspects. Political figures offered condolences and called for action against terrorism. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir emphasized the importance of civilian armament in response to such attacks.

A member of a German far-right party was stabbed and wounded in the southwestern city of Mannheim, German news agency BLID reported Wednesday, only days after a knife attack killed one police officer and left five other people injured in the same city.

The stabbing happened late Tuesday, reportedly near the same market square where the earlier attack took place on Friday.

A candidate with the far-right Alternative for Germany, or AfD, reportedly caught somebody trying to tear down an election poster. When he confronted that person, he was attacked with a knife. The AfD politician, who was campaigning for local elections on Sunday, is still in a hospital with non-life-threatening cuts.

The AfD labeled the attack as an act of left-wing extremism. Markus Frohnmaier, the AfD state chairman, expressed shock and dismay over the incident.

On Friday, a 25-year-old Afghan man stabbed several members of a group that describes itself as opposing "political Islam." The group, Pax Europa, describes itself as an organization that informs the public about the dangers posed by the "increasing spread and influence of political Islam."

Michael Stürzenberger, an anti-Islamist activist who is one of the group's leading figures and has spoken at its events, was among those wounded. Another four members of the Pax Europa group were injured along with a police officer who tried to stop the attack. The 29-year-old officer died of his injuries on Sunday. The attacker is still in the hospital.

Germany said Tuesday it was considering allowing deportations to Afghanistan after an asylum seeker from the country killed a police officer and wounded five others in a knife attack. Deportations to Afghanistan have been stopped since the Taliban retook power in 2021.

Shay Silas Nigrekar, 60, and Aviad Nir, 28, had stopped at a local car wash, when a terrorist – who had reportedly heard that there were Israelis nearby – walked up to the car wash on foot, opened fire with a handgun and fled.

The two victims were treated at the scene but were both soon pronounced dead.

The IDF launched a manhunt for the attacker and arrested the owner of the car wash on suspicion of collaborating with the terrorist.

Located just outside of Nablus in Samaria, Hawara has been the scene of multiple terror attacks against Israelis. Most recently, brothers Hallel, 21, and Yagel Yaniv, 19, were murdered while driving through the town.

The US State Department decried the attack, saying, "We unequivocally condemn today's [Saturday] terrorist attack in the West Bank that killed two Israelis. The United States expresses its condolences to their families and calls for immediate steps to end the violence and incitement to violence."

Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad both praised the shooting.

Since the beginning of 2023, 33 people (31 Israelis, one tourist, and one Gazan) have been killed in terror attacks, as well as 109 were injured, including seven security forces.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that Jenin has become a city of refuge for terrorism and Israeli forces are operating to "put a stop to it."

Speaking at an event for US Independence Day, Netanyahu said, "At this moment, our forces are taking strong and determined action in Jenin. Commando Brigade soldiers, the Border Police, special forces, the Air Force and others are now acting in the heart of the Jenin refugee camp. They are targeting and arresting terrorists, and destroying command centers and laboratories."

"There are no sanctuaries for terrorists – not in Gaza, not in Judea and Samaria, not anywhere. We are operating against the terrorists while making a maximum effort to avoid harming non-combatants," he stressed. "We are determining a new equation against terrorism, constantly. Our guiding principle is simple: Whoever murders Israelis, whoever conspires to murder us, will be in either jail or the grave."

According to Netanyahu, the operation in Jenin "will continue as long as necessary, until the mission is completed." He concluded by thanking the soldiers and commanders operating in Jenin.

The prime minister hailed US-Israel ties, saying, "I wish to express my deep appreciation and gratitude for America's enduring support for Israel. For 75 years, the United States has been our irreplaceable and indispensable ally. Irreplaceable. Indispensable.

"Eleven minutes after our birth, and at vital junctures throughout our history, America has provided Israel with moral and political backing against those committed to wiping us out, to wiping out the one and only Jewish state. No less important, for nearly half a century, America has given generous military assistance to Israel, helping provide us with the tools, the tools we need to defend ourselves by ourselves.

"Decade after decade, our two countries have moved closer together. I'm proud to say that today, security cooperation has never been better, intelligence sharing has never been deeper and our alliance has never been stronger. I have long said that Israel has no better ally than America, and I say to you, America has no better ally than Israel," continued the premier.

"On July 4, all democratic countries should remember that the decisive event that ensured the rise of freedom in modern times, has been the rise of the United States of America. Time and again, America defeated the forces of totalitarianism and terror. Yet we should also remember a basic truth: Freedom is precious, and it's never free. It often requires firm and decisive action against those seeking to spread terror and imperil free societies," said Netanyahu.

President Isaac Herzog also addressed the event, emphasizing that Israel has "no greater friend than the United States of America.

"Our nations share a profound historical legacy and a deep, enduring faith in the values of democracy, life, liberty, and justice. There is no question that the power of our alliance is unmatched: In the goodness it has brought to the world, and the promise it holds for our future," he said. "Our collaboration, which crosses every possible sector and sphere, has been a critical anchor of security, stability and peace for both of our nations, and has brought the promise of hope and prosperity to this region."

For his part, Netanyahu also hailed the exceptional "service and friendship" of US Ambassador Tom Nides, who is stepping down from his position this month.

"Thank you, Tom. During your tenure here, you've demonstrated that your support for Israel comes both from the head and from the heart," said Netanyahu. "No matter what you do, what you decide to do in the next chapter of your life, know that Israel will always be your home away from home. And as you've said many times, quoting President [Joe] Biden, we are mishpuche [family]."

During the event, Nides toasted the crowd, thanking invitees for "celebrating the friendship and marking the unshakable bond between the United States and Israel in the 75th year of Israel's independence."

"Our Palestinian people will not kneel, will not surrender, will not raise the white flag, and will remain steadfast on their land in the face of this brutal aggression," Abu Rudeineh said.

Israeli drones struck terror targets in Jenin – a known Islamic stronghold – and hundreds of troops were deployed in the area in a campaign that resembled the wide-scale operations during the Second Intifada (2000-2005). It followed growing domestic calls for a tougher response to a series of attacks on Israelis.

Lt. Col. Richard Hecht, an army spokesman, said the operation began just after 1 a.m. with an airstrike on a building used by terrorists for planning attacks. He said the goal of the operation was to destroy and confiscate weapons.

"We're not planning to hold ground," he said. "We're acting against specific targets."

He said that a brigade-size force – roughly 2,000 soldiers – was taking part in the operation and that military drones had carried out a series of strikes to clear the way for the ground forces. Although Israel has carried out isolated airstrikes in the West Bank in recent weeks, Hecht said Monday's series of strikes marked an escalation unseen since the Second Intifada.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir lauded the operation, saying, "Proud of our heroes on all fronts and this morning especially of our soldiers operating in Jenin. Praying for their success."

"The Jenin Camp is a terrorist stronghold," the IDF tweeted. "We will not stand by idle while terrorists continue to harm civilians using Jenin Camp as a hideout." It shared a video with further context.

Video: Arab media

Israel Nitzan, acting consul general in the Consulate General of Israel in New York, called the operation, which has been named Home and Garden (Bayit V'gan), an "extensive counterterrorism effort." Nitzan added that the IDF struck "a joint terrorist operations center, which served as the joint operational command center for the Jenin Camp and terrorist operatives of the 'Jenin Brigade.'"

Terrorists would gather before and after attacks in the command center, which sheltered those wanted in terror attacks, Nitzan stated. It is also a "site for weapons and explosives" and "a hub for coordination and communication among the terrorists."

The terrorist operations center is located mere steps from a hospital, a school and a United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) school, per a map that Nitzan shared.

"Iran continues to arm, train and finance terrorists in Judea and Samaria," tweeted Rep. Claudia Tenney. "I wholeheartedly support Israel's right to self-defense and will continue fighting against the mullahs in Iran supporting these terrorists."

Joe Truzman, a research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies' Long War Journal, wrote that the Israeli operation in Jenin wasn't unexpected.

"Militant groups backed by Iran have been fomenting chaos in the West Bank for more than two years," he said. "Israeli authorities recognized that the situation was becoming critical, and thus made the decision to take action."

Videos that circulated purported to show airstrikes, fires and gunmen mobilizing. There are reports of at least one person – and perhaps three – killed and of injuries.

The IDF and the Shin Bet security agency issued a joint statement confirming the attack on a car with three terrorists inside – Muhammad Awais, 28, Ashraf a-Saadi, 17, and Suhaib al-Ghoul, 27. They were identified as two operatives of the Jenin battalion of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group and a member of Fatah's Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

"A short while ago, following precise intelligence of the Shin Bet, IDF soldiers identified a terrorist cell inside a suspicious vehicle, after the cell carried out a shooting near the town of Jalamah," the statement said. "The terrorist cell carried out a number of shooting attacks against settlements throughout Judea and Samaria lately. After identifying the terrorist cell, an IDF drone fired toward the cell and thwarted them."

The IDF spokesman, Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari, said that this type of attack hasn't been used by the Israeli military since 2006.

"We opened fire from a Zik-type drone of the artillery corps at the vehicle after firing at the crossing. There were three people and three weapons in the vehicle, their identity is currently being investigated by the Shin Bet. This type of thwarting was last time used in 2006," he said.

The PIJ vowed to avenge the deaths of their operatives.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant praised the security forces who carried out the attack, reiterating that Israel will take a "proactive approach" in the fight against terrorism and "will pursue and catch our enemies. According to Palestinian reports, the IDF had entered Jenin, with gunfire heard in the area.

The air strike comes a day after a terrorist shooting attack killed four Israeli civilians near the village of Eli.

The Hebrew University came under fire this week due to a pro-Palestinian event held on campus that featured singing and waving flags of the PLO terror organization.

The event was organized by the university's Arab students in honor of the end of the academic year. Some even took pictures with the flag, also associated with incitement against Israel, on stage.

Right-wing organizations Im Tirzu and Lach Yerushalayim criticized the establishment, saying in a joint statement, "It's shameful and disgraceful that the Hebrew University allows for such an event to be held on university premises, where the flags of the PLO terror organization are featured. How can coexistence be promoted when such an event is allowed to be held? Instead of promoting coexistence, the Hebrew University promotes a separatist and nationalist narrative through such events. Shame."

The Hebrew University explained in a statement that the event was organized by an independent student cell.

There are "30 student cells that are active at the university and represent the entire political and social spectrum. They maintain independent activity throughout the year and do not receive a budget or any support from the university, and their activity is protected by freedom of speech."

Over the years, the Hebrew University has been involved in several controversies, the most recent of which involved the inclusion of the so-called Nakba Day – a day Palestinians mark as the "catastrophe" of the establishment of the State of Israel – on the university list of holidays and special occasions.

Earlier, Hebrew University lecturer Prof. David Enoch was blasted for publishing an article in a US outlet calling for the boycott of settlements and the Netanyahu government.

Staff Sgt. Ori Yitzhak Iluz, 20, and Sgt. Lia Ben Nun, 19, were shot by the terrorist at the southern border with Egypt early Saturday morning. The third soldier, Staff Sgt. Ohad Dahan, 20, was killed in the following shootout between the IDF and the terrorist, who is believed to have been a member of Egypt's armed forces.

Dahan's funeral will be held at noon on Sunday in the military section of the Ofakim cemetery. Iluz will be laid to rest at 5:00 p.m. in Tzfat.

Ben Nun leaves behind her parents and an older sister. Just two weeks earlier, she celebrated her 19th birthday and was set to begin a squad commander course. Six days before being killed in the terror attack, she uploaded a video to social media of her journey in the military and dream to join the Border Police as well as the friendships she had made along the way.

A fellow fighter remembered Ben Nun  as "a very friendly, task-oriented girl. A real leader." Another said, "She always smiled and always saw the good in everyone."

Ben Nun's aunt eulogized her, saying, "I am the aunt of this beautiful warrior, a lovely flower that was picked, all with a pure smile of love. Unthinkable. Our hearts are broken. Crushed by pain."

Dahan's uncle said his nephew was "an excellent and valuable fighter. According to reports, he was the last casualty and we were not surprised. I knew it was him. On the eve of Shavuot, we laughed and sat with the whole family. A despicable Egyptian soldier murdered him.

Dahan's cousin said, "This is how Ohad was raised – to love Israel and care for the country."

Ben Nun and Dahan received posthumous promotions, with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi saying that "they fulfilled their duty and prevented another attack on Israeli forces."

Halevi said on Saturday that the military will "thoroughly" probe the circumstances surrounding the deadly shootings, "drawing the necessary lessons."
