Israeli Police warned the public about a fake email circulating with the message "final notice regarding personal investigation summons," which did not originate from law enforcement. The email, allegedly sent from the investigations department, stated: "In accordance with system instructions, a personal file requiring immediate clarification has been opened against you. Please review the summons details and act accordingly. Note: Failure to respond may be considered a serious violation of instructions."

"Recently, inquiries have been received indicating that the public has been sent email or text messages with the heading 'Important message regarding personal investigation summons' containing a link leading to an online review of the summons details."

Police clarified this is a fraudulent message and not an official inquiry. "This is an attempted fraud or phishing." Officials added that "the link attached to the message leads to a fake page pretending to be a summons review page. In any case where suspicion arises that this is a fraudulent inquiry, and there is concern about a phishing attempt."

Police reminded the public not to click on attached links, download files to computers, and to block the email address or phone number that sent the message.

Former Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi was taken to Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital on Sunday morning following a medical incident after ingesting sleeping pills. According to medical officials, she was fully conscious when evacuated. Magen David Adom paramedics were dispatched to her home, and her life is not currently in danger. Authorities are examining whether the incident had a suicidal background.

A police source said that Tomer-Yerushalmi "is responsible for herself. The investigation team received a medical opinion stating she was found fit to undergo questioning and legal proceedings. Had the district psychiatrist believed there was any danger, conditions for her release or compulsory hospitalization would have been set."

Ichilov Hospital stated that "the former Military Advocate General was admitted this morning to the emergency department, where medical teams are currently assessing her condition."

The hospitalization follows recent developments in an ongoing police investigation. Yesterday, it was reported that the cyber unit of the Israel Police Investigations Division is trying to determine whether the internal memory of Tomer-Yerushalmi's iPhone, found two days ago in the sea off Hof Hatsuk beach, remained intact after spending several days in saltwater.

A police source familiar with the details told Israel Hayom that "the fact the phone displayed a lock screen doesn't mean the memory is functioning. After five days in seawater, that's highly unlikely."

Police emphasized that Tomer-Yerushalmi remains a suspect in obstruction of justice and filing a false report. Officials also criticized politicians, including Justice Minister Yariv Levin, accusing them of "playing politics with an active investigation." They added that even if the High Court of Justice transfers authority to Judge Kola, he has no power to run the investigation. "Such investigations, even under normal circumstances, are conducted by the Israel Police under the supervision of the head of the Investigations Division," they said.

A woman swimming at HaTzuk Beach in Herzliya on Friday morning found an iPhone 16 and police investigated whether it belonged to former IDF Chief Military Prosecutor Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi. After examination, police confirmed the phone belonged to the former military advocate general. The civilian who found the phone was taken to the police station to provide testimony.

A police source said, "The phone had battery for six days. It may have been turned off or in airplane mode. We knew more or less the area where the phone should have been located, but it's not a tank that can be easily found."

A witness at HaTzuk Beach claimed a woman who went swimming suddenly found the phone. The drama unfolded just before the former military prosecutor was set to be released to house arrest for 10 days. The former prosecutor had provided the password to her phone in advance, for when it would be found.

In a hearing held Friday morning at Tel Aviv's Hashalom court, judges discussed imposing restrictive conditions on the former Chief Military Prosecutor Tomer-Yerushalmi. Following the proceedings, she was released to house arrest for 10 days. A contact ban was imposed on all those involved in the case until December 31, and a personal guarantee of 10,000 shekels ($2,820) was required. Additionally, the former prosecutor's brother, Assaf Tomer, will sign as guarantor for her arrest conditions. The former prosecutor will be able to receive permission to leave her home to meet with her lawyers with advance approval from the police.

Police raided the Histadrut headquarters and the homes of senior officials on Monday morning, in what is being described as "an earthquake in the realm of public-sector corruption." Among those arrested were Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David and his wife, the prominent insurance agent at the center of the affair, and some 35 other suspects, including municipal leaders, senior Histadrut figures, and lawyers.

According to the investigation by Police's Lahav 433 anti-fraud unit, which had been conducted covertly for two years, the insurance agent built an extensive network of influence. On one side, he maintained a close personal relationship with Bar-David and other senior Histadrut officials; on the other, he leveraged his connections with local authorities across the country. He allegedly worked to expand his client base by ensuring that his agency would represent committees in numerous municipalities and corporations nationwide.

In return, they benefited from his access and his ability to secure lucrative appointments for them as directors in various organizations, including financial institutions, municipal corporations, and local authorities. Investigators describe a "give-and-take" system in which heads received personal favors, while the agent's companies reaped massive financial gains, tens of millions of shekels annually.

The scope of the investigation

The case is described as vast and complex. Police have carried out searches and interrogations in multiple institutions, including the municipalities of Harish, Rishon Lezion, Kiryat Bialik, Kiryat Gat, Rosh Haayin, and Ashdod; as well as at Israel Railways, El Al Airlines, the Wingate Institute, and Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (Jewish National Fund). In each of these places, officials, primarily labor committee heads, were questioned over their alleged involvement with the insurance agent.

According to the allegations, the mechanism functioned by offering appointments of directors in corporations connected to the Histadrut. In exchange, workers' insurance portfolios were transferred to the agent's company. The agent, reportedly with the backing of Bar-David and other senior Histadrut officials, also arranged paid roles within Histadrut subsidiaries for certain labor leaders.

A senior Histadrut source told Israel Hayom: "We are confident in Chairman Arnon Bar-David's integrity and innocence. We are cooperating with the police but are certain that there was nothing improper in his conduct."

An unprecedented wave of fires targeting hay barns — storage facilities for hay and fodder used to feed dairy cows — is threatening Israel's milk supply and could soon lead to severe shortages and sharp price hikes, officials have warned.

A special investigation by Israel Hayom has found that since the start of 2025, 20 hay barn fires have been reported across the country, compared to just a handful of cases last year — a spike of several hundred percent.

Israel's Fire and Rescue Services say most of the blazes are not accidental. Many are the result of deliberate arson, often linked to criminal gangs extorting protection money from farmers in rural areas. "These incidents put lives at risk and damage critical infrastructure," fire officials said. "Every hay barn that goes up in flames disrupts an entire supply chain — from the hay, to the dairy farms, to the supermarket shelves."

In Israel's southern district, where at least five of the recent fires occurred, Deputy District Commander Fire Chief Itzik Levi described the situation as dire. "Each fire drags on for days and causes enormous damage," he said. "During the Rosh Hashanah holiday, our teams worked for over 60 hours to fully extinguish a blaze. When the hay is gone, the cows have nothing to eat, production halts, and prices soar. This is a blow to the dairy industry and to national resilience."

While many fires are set intentionally, others stem from spontaneous combustion — dense, moist hay that heats up from within and ignites due to microbial activity.

A fire investigator explained: "When there's high humidity and compression, hay piles heat up and catch fire from the inside, especially on hot days. This can easily be prevented with proper drying, ventilation, and regular temperature checks." He noted that four fires in the north were caused by hay purchased from a single supplier who failed to dry the product properly.

Zebulun Station Commander Fire Chief Kobi Mizrahi said the fires pose serious operational challenges. "These are tough incidents that sometimes take four days to bring under control. We need heavy equipment, specialized foam, and a lot of manpower. It wears down the system and limits our ability to respond to other emergencies."

Fire and Rescue Services also revealed that half of the hay barns in the north do not meet fire safety regulations. Eyal Berkowitz, head of fire protection for the coastal district, said: "In small municipalities there is no supervision, no enforcement. Inspections are only carried out after a fire, and by then it's too late."

The wave of fires is not just a threat to farmers, but to Israel's food security. Every hay barn destroyed reduces the national fodder stockpile, raises production costs, and destabilizes milk prices.

Officials say the solution must be systemic: stronger cooperation among authorities, increased oversight and enforcement, and real deterrence against criminal elements. Without immediate action, industry leaders warn, Israel could soon face a domestic milk shortage and a dramatic surge in prices.

The Shin Bet and Israel Police this month arrested Yaakov Perl, 49, a dual American-Israeli citizen, who had traveled from abroad to Israel to carry out intelligence gathering missions on public figures under the direction of Iranian intelligence. Perl was instructed by Iran to photograph the homes of former IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

Perl had been living in Morocco in recent years and was detained on suspicion of various security offenses involving ties with Iranian operatives and carrying out missions on their behalf. He received $15,000 for his activities.

While residing in Morocco, Perl was associated with the Satmar community, though he claimed he did not agree with its ideology. During his interrogation by the Shin Bet's security division, he admitted that everything he was asked to do was intended to help the Iranians harm those individuals.

The joint investigation by the Shin Bet and Lahav 433 revealed that in 2017, while living in Morocco, Perl contacted the Iranian Embassy in Morocco by phone and requested asylum for himself and his family. After receiving no response, in 2023, while still in Morocco, he began following Iranian news outlets on Telegram and publishing content against Israel and Zionism.

Following an article he published in January 2025 in support of Hezbollah following the funeral of its Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, Perl was contacted by an Iranian operative who offered to collaborate with him, and Perl agreed.

The investigation also found that after agreeing to cooperate with Iran, and before arriving in Israel, Perl made several attempts to recruit individuals in Israel and abroad to help the Iranians collect intelligence. When these attempts failed, he agreed to come to Israel himself, under his handlers' instructions, to carry out the missions. To that end, he renewed his Israeli passport and arrived in Israel in July 2025.

Shortly after entering Israel, he began carrying out a series of intelligence gathering assignments directed by Iranian intelligence, passing along information about Israeli public figures and citizens, including Herzi Halevi and Itamar Ben Gvir.

As part of his activities, Perl also took photos and videos of various streets and locations in Israel, and was paid in cryptocurrency.

The investigation determined that Perl carried out these missions with full awareness that he was acting on behalf of Iranian intelligence and that his actions endangered Israel's national security, motivated by his belief that he must act against Israel and Zionism.

An indictment against Perl is expected to be filed in the coming days.

The mother of Social Equality Minister May Golan appeared for questioning Thursday, after police had struggled for days to reach her by phone and were unable to go to her home because her daughter, an MK, enjoys parliamentary immunity.

Investigators had summoned Golan's mother to answer questions about documents and assets registered in her name. She appeared for questioning at a station near her home around midday.

During the interrogation, Golan arrived at the Tel Aviv police station and took her mother away when she stepped out to use the restroom, leaving before the session had concluded. Throughout the questioning, her mother had remained silent.

A police source commented, "May's mother cannot just be questioned and then leave whenever she feels like it. The minister is using her immunity to remove her from the interrogation room. We will consult with the relevant legal authorities and decide how to proceed."

At the same time, the Israel Police's National Fraud Investigations Unit, Lahav 433, decided to release two of the suspects in the corruption case involving Golan's ministry. They were placed under house arrest on Thursday and will remain there until September 21, the eve of Rosh Hashanah.

Police investigators raided the office of Israeli Social Equality and Advancement of Women Minister May Golan on Monday as part of an ongoing fraud probe. Golan is expected to be questioned later today at the Lahav 433 National Fraud Investigation Unit.

In addition to Golan, police arrested one suspect, detained several others, and carried out searches at multiple locations. The investigation centers on suspicions of fraud, misuse of public funds for private purposes, and fictitious employment at the ministry.

During a search of the home of one of Golan's office secretaries, who was detained for questioning, police discovered marijuana plants. All suspects were taken for interrogation at Lahav 433 headquarters. The arrested individual will be brought later today before the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court for a remand hearing.

The investigation began several months ago and focuses on allegations that ministry employees and others were involved in fraudulently obtaining benefits, diverting public funds for private use, creating fictitious jobs, and concealing sources of funding through the use of nonprofits and government systems.

Criminal proceedings are currently underway against 10 members of the governing coalition.

It has been authorized for publication that Staff Sergeant Niv Peretz is the police officer who was killed on Sunday by gunfire during a chase after ATVs in the Wadi Ara area. At age 28, Peretz served as a detective at the Umm al-Fahm station, and left behind parents, a brother, and a sister.

The police reported that overnight, numerous police forces operated with police helicopter support and conducted operational searches for suspects involved in the incident where the officer fell. During the operation, 14 suspects were arrested. According to investigative needs, the police will request to extend their detention in court. A senior source reports that police are investigating all investigative directions, including suspicion of two-way fire in the incident.

Niv was born in Afula and studied at a religious high school. Mother Tikva recounted, "He enlisted in the Border Police after wanting only Border Police. After his discharge, he enlisted in the police. He was a treasure. He wanted to buy a house. He was very beloved by his friends. He fought for the people of Israel. He didn't share with us, but I knew he was serving in dangerous places. He wanted to study and continue in his position. This is a great loss. He had plans to fly in two more days to Rhodes with friends. Instead, he fell to despicable murderers."

Afula Mayor Avi Elkabetz eulogized him on social media networks: "Participating in the sorrow of the dear Peretz family, on the fall of police officer Niv Peretz, who was shot to death during duty fulfillment while on police activity in the Wadi Ara area. Niv, sweet young man, engaged in important police activity and helped secure the residents of the State of Israel, but fell to despicable murderers."

Police Commissioner Major General Danny Levi addressed the incident: "We bow our heads with the death of detective Niv Peretz of blessed memory, who fell while fulfilling his duty during operational activity. I and all of Israel Police embrace the family in its difficult hour and will accompany it forever. This is a sad and painful incident. Staff Sergeant Peretz of blessed memory acted with determination and heroism, within the framework of initiated operational activity, to thwart a weapons deal and met his death while striving for contact."

The incident developed in an olive grove between Zalafa and Umm al-Fahm, when, apparently, a squad with an ATV tried to hide or smuggle weapons. A police force encountered the squad and began a chase after the ATV. The forces were led into a dense forest, where exchanges of fire began between the police officers and the squad; then, it appears the officer was shot. He was evacuated to HaEmek Hospital, where it was determined he died from his wounds.

The police said fire was opened from the direction of the ATV and that police forces are searching the area, trying to locate the suspects. Initial investigation reveals that this was an operational activity tracking a weapons squad, both operationally and intelligence-wise.
