A combined terror attack in northern Israel killed a 68-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman across two separate locations. The terrorist ran over the man near Beit She'an, whose death was confirmed later. The attacker then continued driving, struck a vehicle, and stabbed the 18-year-old woman to death on Route 71 near Ein Harod. At least six additional people were wounded in the attack.

Before running over the 68-year-old man to death, the terrorist struck a 16-year-old boy with his vehicle near Beit She'an, lightly wounding him. Magen David Adom paramedics reported: "We found a 16-year-old boy lying on the sidewalk with injuries to his legs. He and bystanders informed us he had been struck by a vehicle. We administered medical treatment and transported him by ambulance to the hospital. His condition was light, and he remained fully conscious."

A 37-year-old man sustained moderate injuries after being struck at the scene in Afula and was evacuated for treatment.

Magen David Adom medics described the scene where the 18-year-old woman was fatally stabbed: "The wounded woman lay on the roadside beyond the separation barrier, unconscious and suffering from penetrating injuries to her body. We administered medical treatment, but her condition was critical, and we were compelled to pronounce her death."

The attacker, a resident of Qabatiya near Jenin, had been staying in Israel for several days illegally. Police confirmed that the suspect was neutralized near HaMeonot Junction in Afula by a civilian bystander. The neutralized terrorist, a West Bank resident, was evacuated to the hospital in moderate condition. Investigation of the case continues at all scenes.

Police said, "A short time ago, a report was received about a stabbing incident near Ein Harod, during which a woman was wounded and a vehicle that fled the scene toward the city of Afula. The suspect vehicle was stopped a short time ago near the city of Afula, and the suspect was neutralized. Northern District police officers are at the scene, and the circumstances of the incident are under investigation."

A security official reported that initial findings indicate an Israeli citizen had employed the terrorist for an undetermined period. Security authorities are examining when and how he crossed into Israel, and whether the employment was on a regular basis.

Various authorities initially assessed that the incident was criminal in nature, but it was later determined to be a terror attack.

The Shin Bet and Israel Police arrested Shimon Azarzar, a resident of Haifa, who transmitted photos and locations of sensitive Israeli installations to Iranian intelligence operatives. He exploited his partner, who serves in reserves, to gather various details about the IDF and Air Force bases.

Azarzar, 27, and his partner, Israeli citizens living in northern Israel, were arrested last month on suspicion of security offenses involving contact with Iranian intelligence operatives and executing security missions under their guidance. The Shin Bet and police investigation revealed that over a period of more than one year, Shimon Azarzar maintained contact with Iranian intelligence operatives and carried out various operational tasks under their instruction. During this period, he transmitted photos and locations of sensitive installations in Israel and offered to provide crucial information to his handlers from IDF bases.

Additionally, Azarzar exploited his relationship with his partner, who serves in reserves at an Air Force base, and obtained from her various details about the IDF, Air Force bases, and more. The investigation also revealed that he offered his Iranian handler information from an IDF base.

According to the investigation findings, Azarzar received payments for his services that were transferred via digital payment methods. Sunday morning, an indictment was filed against Azarzar in the Haifa District Court.

This incident joins a series of previous cases in which Israeli citizens helped Iranian operatives gather intelligence and transmit sensitive information from Israel for payment. To date, over 30 indictments have been filed against suspects in cases nationwide.

It has been authorized for publication that Staff Sergeant Niv Peretz is the police officer who was killed on Sunday by gunfire during a chase after ATVs in the Wadi Ara area. At age 28, Peretz served as a detective at the Umm al-Fahm station, and left behind parents, a brother, and a sister.

The police reported that overnight, numerous police forces operated with police helicopter support and conducted operational searches for suspects involved in the incident where the officer fell. During the operation, 14 suspects were arrested. According to investigative needs, the police will request to extend their detention in court. A senior source reports that police are investigating all investigative directions, including suspicion of two-way fire in the incident.

Niv was born in Afula and studied at a religious high school. Mother Tikva recounted, "He enlisted in the Border Police after wanting only Border Police. After his discharge, he enlisted in the police. He was a treasure. He wanted to buy a house. He was very beloved by his friends. He fought for the people of Israel. He didn't share with us, but I knew he was serving in dangerous places. He wanted to study and continue in his position. This is a great loss. He had plans to fly in two more days to Rhodes with friends. Instead, he fell to despicable murderers."

Afula Mayor Avi Elkabetz eulogized him on social media networks: "Participating in the sorrow of the dear Peretz family, on the fall of police officer Niv Peretz, who was shot to death during duty fulfillment while on police activity in the Wadi Ara area. Niv, sweet young man, engaged in important police activity and helped secure the residents of the State of Israel, but fell to despicable murderers."

Police Commissioner Major General Danny Levi addressed the incident: "We bow our heads with the death of detective Niv Peretz of blessed memory, who fell while fulfilling his duty during operational activity. I and all of Israel Police embrace the family in its difficult hour and will accompany it forever. This is a sad and painful incident. Staff Sergeant Peretz of blessed memory acted with determination and heroism, within the framework of initiated operational activity, to thwart a weapons deal and met his death while striving for contact."

The incident developed in an olive grove between Zalafa and Umm al-Fahm, when, apparently, a squad with an ATV tried to hide or smuggle weapons. A police force encountered the squad and began a chase after the ATV. The forces were led into a dense forest, where exchanges of fire began between the police officers and the squad; then, it appears the officer was shot. He was evacuated to HaEmek Hospital, where it was determined he died from his wounds.

The police said fire was opened from the direction of the ATV and that police forces are searching the area, trying to locate the suspects. Initial investigation reveals that this was an operational activity tracking a weapons squad, both operationally and intelligence-wise.

In a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Police Crime Fighting Unit, authorities arrested Najib Dik, a 25-year-old resident of the Israeli-Arab city of Baqa al-Gharbiyye, located in central Israel, for investigation based on ideological support for the Islamic State terrorist organization (ISIS).

During his interrogation, investigators discovered that he joined the Islamic State terrorist organization as a member while pledging allegiance to the organization and consuming terrorist network content.

The investigation also revealed that due to Najib's religious strengthening and following the war in Gaza, he contemplated attacking security forces. The investigation exposed a troubling picture of expanding trends of Israeli Arab involvement in terrorism recently, and the war's effects on them and their actions.

Thursday, following the completion of comprehensive investigative actions by the police and Shin Bet, an indictment was filed by the Haifa District Attorney's Office.

A mass execution of Syrian soldiers by the Islamic State terror group in Palmyra, Syria

According to the indictment filed by attorney Mor Ben Abu from the Haifa District Attorney's Office, beginning in February this year, the defendant displayed a growing interest in ISIS and its activities. He regularly watched videos and content on social networks and Telegram groups identified with the organization, including execution and combat videos from Syria and Iraq.

At a later stage, it is alleged that the defendant watched a video containing the text of the oath to the organization, read aloud the text of the declaration while mentioning the name of ISIS's current leader, thereby swearing allegiance to the organization and considering himself a member of it. Subsequently, he examined the possibility of traveling to Somalia in order to join ISIS terrorists.

According to the indictment, in April and May, the defendant drove several times in his car near the settlement of Maor, listened to jihadist songs, and considered detonating an explosive device at a kiosk where soldiers stay. The prosecution attributes to him charges of membership in a terrorist organization.

A source in Syria's Interior Ministry told the country's official news agency on Wednesday that a ceasefire agreement had been reached in Sweida, following a revelation by an American official that the Trump administration had asked Israel to stop its attacks in Syria.

The announcement came amid a dramatic day marked by Israeli strikes in Damascus, hundreds of armed Druze crossing into Syria, and a stern warning from the US regarding Israeli operations. Even in the past hour, Druze continue to cross the border into Syria.

The official Syrian announcement

A source from the Syrian Interior Ministry told the official Syrian news agency: "A ceasefire agreement has been reached in Sweida. Security checkpoints have been set up in the city, which will be fully reintegrated into the Syrian state." In parallel, Druze Sheikh Yusuf Jerbo also announced a ceasefire agreement with the regime, the deployment of checkpoints, and the "full integration of the province into the Syrian state," according to the pro-Assad daily Al-Watan. The statements suggest that the Syrians regard the situation in Sweida as resolved through a formal agreement, not merely a temporary ceasefire. However, it should be noted that this information comes solely from Syrian sources and has not yet been independently confirmed by Israeli or international channels.

American pressure and the Druze crisis

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed concern on Wednesday morning about the Israeli strikes: "We are concerned about Israeli strikes in Syria. We are speaking with all parties and want the fighting to stop." It has since emerged that behind the scenes, the Trump administration was working to end the strikes. A US official revealed: "The Trump administration asked Israel to stop its attacks in Syria." The American pressure comes amid fears of regional escalation and a desire to ease tensions along the Israel-Syria border.

Washington's intervention stems from a severe escalation triggered when the Druze leadership in Israel declared a general strike and urged the government to act immediately on behalf of the Druze population in Syria. The leadership warned that "the blood pact with Israel is at a breaking point," citing what they described as a "brutal massacre" of Druze residents in southern Syria. In response, the Israel Defense Forces carried out strikes on the Syrian regime's general staff compound in the Damascus area. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned: "The time for signals in Damascus is over – now come painful blows."

The crisis reached a peak when hundreds of armed Druze civilians crossed the security fence at Majdal Shams into Syria, aiming to aid their brethren being slaughtered in the Sweida region. The incursion was massive and dramatic, with Druze carrying personal weapons and acting against IDF directives. Israeli forces attempted to prevent the crossing and to safely return the civilians, but the Druze protest was resolute and well-organized. Demonstrations also erupted at major junctions in northern Israel, as the Druze leadership declared a general strike and days of national mourning.

Hundreds of armed Druze civilians crossed the border fence from Israel into Syria near Majdal Shams. IDF forces are currently working to safely return those who crossed.

Afterwards, IDF forces identified dozens of suspects attempting to infiltrate Israeli territory from Syria near the village of Hader. IDF troops, in coordination with Border Police units, are working to prevent the infiltration and disperse the gathering.

The leadership of Israel's Druze community, headed by spiritual leader Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, issued an urgent call on Wednesday for the Israeli government to take immediate action in response to what it described as a brutal massacre of Druze residents in southern Syria. "Women, children and the elderly are being murdered in cold blood, while Israel stands by," read an official statement issued by the community.

Meanwhile, the Al-Arabi channel reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted Islamist regime forces in the Sweida province of southern Syria. Gunfire was also reported within the city. The Al-Watan newspaper reported an explosion in Damascus.

Later, the IDF Spokesperson issues a statment: "A short time ago, the IDF struck the entrance gate of the Syrian regime's General Staff Headquarters in the Damascus area. The IDF continues to monitor developments and the actions being taken against Druze civilians in southern Syria. In accordance with directives from the political echelon, the IDF is carrying out strikes in the area and is prepared for various scenarios."

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a warning to the Syrian regime and its president, Ahmed al-Sharaa: "The Syrian regime must back off the Druze in Sweida and withdraw its forces. As we've made clear and repeatedly warned, Israel will not abandon the Druze in Syria and will enforce the demilitarization policy we've adopted. The IDF will continue to strike regime forces until they retreat from the area, and will soon escalate its responses if the message is not understood."

This is a developing story.

The leadership of Israel's Druze community, headed by spiritual leader Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, issued a dramatic appeal on Wednesday calling on the Israeli government to take immediate action in response to events unfolding in southern Syria, where Druze residents are reportedly being massacred. "Women, children and the elderly are being slaughtered in cold blood while Israel stands by," read an official statement released by the community.

The message, signed by Tarif, paints a picture of acute crisis on Jabal al-Druze (Mountain of the Druze) and includes strong criticism of the Israeli government and military for their inaction. "Despite explicit commitments, no meaningful steps are being taken to halt the killings," the statement said.

The Druze leadership warned that the long-standing "blood alliance" between their community and the State of Israel is now at a breaking point. For over two years, Druze citizens have served at the front lines of Israel's battles against its enemies, the statement continued, calling on the government to take unequivocal action to protect their relatives across the border.

In response to the violence in Syria, Druze leaders have declared a general strike and national days of mourning. They also issued an extraordinary directive: to prepare for the possibility of crossing the Israeli border into Syria to protect fellow Druze.

"The community's leadership calls on all Druze citizens to prepare by all necessary means to cross the border and assist our brothers being slaughtered in Syria," the statement read.

The leaders said they had formally appealed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, and senior defense officials, urging them to authorize immediate Israeli airstrikes against the forces responsible for the attacks in southern Syria. "Failure to act will dangerously deepen the rift between our community and the State of Israel," they warned.

In May, Israel Police's 100 hotline received an urgent call reporting a Tesla crashing into several parked cars in Yanuh-Jat in northern Israel with a man menacing bystanders with a knife. When police arrived, they discovered that the suspect, wielding a knife, had entered the village moments earlier and threatened multiple individuals, yelling, "I'm committing suicide with you, I'll slaughter you one by one." He proceeded to puncture the tires of a parked car outside residential homes.

The suspect then returned to his Tesla, reversed for several dozen meters, and sped toward a group of people nearby. As they scattered to safety, he smashed into two vehicles parked along the road. After initially escaping, he was arrested later that night for interrogation. An indictment has been filed, accompanied by a request to hold him in custody until legal proceedings conclude.
