As Israel marks the 600th day of the Gaza War following Hamas' deadly attack on Oct. 7, 2023, it marks a grim milestone of an unbearable reality. With hostages still being held in Gaza, constant missile launches by Yemen's Houthis, wildfires, rising global antisemitism, and an ongoing war, how do Israelis cope?

We asked Israelis how they handle it all, seeking answers to the central question: How do they stay resilient? From a New Yorker who made aliyah despite the chaos, to those who suppress their emotions or find comfort in their pets, Israelis are finding ways to navigate a reality Hollywood's best writers couldn't have imagined.

As Israel's representative, Yuval Raphael, continues to amaze audiences in Basel and on social media with her performance of "New Day Will Rise," we talked to people across Israel to gauge excitement for this year's contest, marking the second year Israel participates during the ongoing war.

Ahead of the grand final, we asked Israelis about the country's chances to win, their messages for Raphael, and were surprised to encounter a "blast from the past" dating all the way back to Israel's first winning representative in the 1978 Eurovision, Izhar Cohen.

Since Oct. 8, 2023, exactly a day after the deadly Hamas attack on Oct. 7 that changed Israelis' lives forever, Hezbollah has fired massive barrages of rockets, anti-tank missiles, and drones at Israel non-stop. Israel's residents of the north have been evacuated from their homes and communities for over a year, their houses destroyed and the once-green, flourishing northern landscape now burned and desolate. The year-long attacks climaxed with the IDF's campaign against Hezbollah inside Lebanon, which prompted a possible ceasefire agreement.

Should Israel back down or keep up the pressure? Here is what Israelis think.

Visiting Israel during the summer is most definitely the best time to do so. Yet Israeli summer during an ongoing war with Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Iraqi militias, and the Yemeni Houthis who occasionally raise their heads is probably slightly more problematic.

Nevertheless, Tel Aviv's beaches are filled with tanned tourists enjoying their vacation carefree. From individual adults to families with kids roaming the streets from all around the world, for a moment, Israel's reality seemed almost normal. The question is, what makes tourists eagerly visit a war zone?

Having faced a reality of multi-arena conflict for almost a year since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, the most recent threat to Israeli lives is yet another attack produced by Iran. Both international and local media outlets are brimming with speculation regarding a possibly imminent attack, though its scale and timing remain unclear.

Although Israelis try to maintain a daily routine alongside constant attacks from Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north, we set out to investigate whether the Israeli public has become desensitized to these ongoing threats or if the stress remains palpable, particularly in the face of Iran's provocations.
