The 27-year-old shooter, identified as Shane Devon Tamura, drove cross-country from Las Vegas before opening fire at 345 Park Avenue with an M4 assault-style rifle, according to police officials cited by CNN. The attack occurred during rush hour at the skyscraper housing corporate offices for the National Football League and other major companies.

The shooting began at approximately 6:28 p.m. when Tamura entered the building's lobby and immediately opened fire on an NYPD officer and others present. Surveillance footage shows the gunman exiting a double-parked black BMW alone before entering the skyscraper, according to New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

"He then shoots a woman who took cover behind a pillar and proceeds through the lobby, spraying it with gunfire," Tisch stated during a news conference. The gunman continued to the elevator bank, where he shot a security guard taking cover behind his desk, before allowing a woman to exit an elevator unharmed and proceeding to the 33rd floor.

On the 33rd floor, occupied by Rudin Management, Tamura fired multiple rounds while walking the floor, killing one person before shooting himself fatally in the chest, according to police accounts reported by CNN. Retired NYPD Captain John Monaghan told CNN that the gunman's calm approach to the building suggested "he knew he was going to die" and "was at peace with that."

A suicide note found in Tamura's pocket revealed his grievances against the NFL and his belief that he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease linked to head trauma. The handwritten note, scribbled across three pages, stated "Terry Long football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze" and "You can't go against the NFL, they'll squash you," according to a source with knowledge of the investigation cited by CNN. Terry Long, a former Pittsburgh Steelers player who was diagnosed with CTE, died by suicide after drinking antifreeze in 2005. Tamura's note also requested that his brain be studied and included an apology to someone named Rick, CNN reported.

Multiple sources told CNN that Tamura had been a competitive football player in his youth. The gunman had "a documented mental health history," according to police statements, though his specific motives remain under investigation. A childhood friend of Tamura, who requested anonymity, told CNN he remembered the suspect as "a nice guy and a good athlete" and expressed shock at the development, saying he did not think it was something Tamura was capable of.

The attack timeline shows Tamura drove through Colorado on July 26, then through Nebraska and Iowa on July 27, before entering New York City around 4:24 p.m. on Monday, approximately two hours before the shooting began, according to police information.

Upon searching Tamura's vehicle, police discovered a loaded revolver, rifle case, ammunition, magazines, a backpack, and prescribed medication. No explosives were found. Tamura possessed a valid license to carry a weapon in Nevada, where obtaining such permits requires only proof of residency and absence of felony convictions or restraining orders, according to analysis provided to CNN.

Among those killed was NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, a 36-year-old immigrant from Bangladesh who was working security at the building. Islam, described by officials as a hero, leaves behind two young sons and a pregnant wife expecting their third child. "He loved this city and everyone we spoke with stated he was a person of faith and a person that believed in God and believed in living out the life of a godly person," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said of Islam during a Monday news conference, according to CNN.

One person who was shot survived and remains in critical but stable condition, while four additional victims received treatment for minor injuries sustained while fleeing the scene. An NFL employee was seriously injured but is stable, according to a staff memo from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, reported by CNN.

Eyewitnesses described hearing rapid gunfire and seeing people fleeing as the attack unfolded. "It felt like it was a quick two shots and then it was rapid fire," Nekeisha Lewis told the Associated Press, according to CNN's reporting. She described windows shattering and seeing a man run from the building, saying, "Help, help. I'm shot."

The 44-story building at 345 Park Avenue houses offices for the NFL, global investment firm Blackstone, tax and audit firm KPMG, and a Bank of America center. The NFL's corporate offices are located on the fifth floor of the building, which occupies an entire city block between 51st and 52nd Street.

The shooting represents the 254th mass shooting in the US this year, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive cited by CNN. The last time New York City experienced a mass shooting as deadly occurred in 2000, when two gunmen killed five people during a robbery at a Wendy's restaurant in Flushing, Queens.

The National Football League confirmed Monday that the demonstrator who raised a Palestinian flag, along with a Sudanese flag, and ran onto the field during Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance at yesterday's Super Bowl was actually a member of the American rapper's 400-person dance ensemble – not an unauthorized intruder at the event.

"We commend the security personnel who detained the individual carrying the flag," an official statement from America's premier football league. "None of the production staff was aware of this individual's intentions, the individual will (be) banned for life from all NFL stadiums and events." The announcement further detailed that the individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, "hid the item and unveiled it late in the show."

Simultaneously, Roc Nation, the production company owned by Jay-Z, released a parallel statement emphasizing its lack of prior knowledge about the incident and asserting that it "was neither planned nor part of the production and was never in any rehearsal." However, the New Orleans Police Department, where the Super Bowl was hosted, announced today that although the man was removed from the stadium, he was neither arrested nor summoned for future questioning.

Apple, the performance's sponsor, has not yet addressed American media inquiries regarding the disruptive incident, which took place during "TV off," the closing number of Lamar's spectacular performance.

The Super Bowl game and its halftime show drew a live audience exceeding 100 million viewers in the United States and was broadcast across dozens of nations globally, including Israel.

Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans next year, marking a return to hip-hop for the NFL's entertainment event, reports the Associated Press.

The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced Sunday that Lamar will take center stage at the Caesars Superdome on Feb. 9, 2025. The 37-year-old artist, who has amassed 17 Grammy awards over his career, expressed enthusiasm about showcasing hip-hop on football's biggest night. "Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date," Lamar said. "And I'll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one."

This performance will be a return of sorts for Lamar, who previously appeared as a guest artist during the 2022 halftime show alongside Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, 50 Cent, and Eminem. Lamar's selection continues the NFL's recent trend of featuring hip-hop artists in the halftime slot.

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z praised Lamar as a "once-in-a-generation" talent, highlighting the rapper's cultural impact beyond music. "His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision," Jay-Z said. "He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally." NFL head of music Seth Dudowsky stated, "Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop."

The creative direction for Lamar's performance will be handled by pgLang, a company he co-founded with longtime collaborator Dave Free. Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins will serve as co-executive producers of the show.

"The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show is a celebration of the music we love and the incredible artists who make it, all on the world's biggest stage," said Oliver Schusser, the vice president of Apple Music and Beats.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has taken his partnership with Hellmann's Mayonnaise to new olfactory heights, according to a report from Fox News. The condiment company has unveiled a fragrance inspired by Levis, aptly named "Will Levis No. 8, Parfum de Mayonnaise."

In a 40-second advertisement reminiscent of traditional cologne commercials, Levis is seen posing with a jar of Hellmann's while whispering, "They try to define you, but you are the ingredient to your own success. Lucious, eggy – smell like greatness."

The fragrance, which became available in August, sold out within hours of its release. Priced at $8 per bottle, a nod to Levis' jersey number, the scent is described as containing "notes of tart lemon, mayonnaise accord, coffee, musk and vanilla." Hellmann's has announced plans to restock the product.

This unusual collaboration stems from Levis' revelation during his college days that he enjoyed adding mayonnaise to his coffee. The quarterback explained the origin of this peculiar taste preference to NFL social media, recounting an incident with his girlfriend at a breakfast before a game.

"It was a Friday before a game, me and my girlfriend were at breakfast, we got our coffees and there was no cream, no sugar on the table, just a bottle of mayo," Levis said. "She made the kind of funny joke 'Do you think people are supposed to put this in their coffee?' And I was like, 'Maybe, let's try it out.'"

Despite downplaying his love for mayo in coffee during his introductory press conference with the Titans after the 2023 NFL Draft, Hellmann's capitalized on the quirky revelation. The brand signed Levis to a lifetime deal in August 2023 and later introduced a "mayo mocha" coffee drink at a Nashville coffee shop in November.

As Levis prepares for his second NFL season as the Titans' starting quarterback, he faces new challenges and opportunities. The team has undergone significant changes, including the hiring of former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan as head coach, replacing the defensive-minded Mike Vrabel.

The Titans have also made substantial investments in their offense during the offseason. They added wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, along with running back Tony Pollard, in free agency. Additionally, they selected Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham with the seventh overall pick in the draft to bolster their offensive line.

Levis expressed appreciation for the team's offseason moves in an interview with CBS Sports. "It gives me a sense of confidence that they trust me, for them to invest the money in specifically my side of the ball," he said. "It's cool to see the weapons and the capability that we have as an offense, and we've been able to show throughout training camp that they've made the right decisions in that way."

The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has come under fire for a post on Instagram in which he said Jews "will blackmail America," a quote he falsely attributed to Hitler.

DeSean said the Jews "will extort America, their plan for world domination won't work if the Negroes know who they were," triggering an online firestorm that forced him to take the post down.

His online rant claimed that Hitler supposedly explained why white Jews will control America: "Hitler said, 'because the white Jews know that the Negroes are the real Children of Israel and to keep Americas secret the Jews will blackmail America.'"

Additionally, Jackson posted a photo of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan delivering his three-hour Fourth of July address in which Farrakhan stated that "Israel is the reason guns, drugs, counterfeit money are in black neighborhoods," and that Jews had poisoned him with "radiated seed" to test whether he was truly a man of God.

In an October 2018 speech, Farrakhan told his followers, "When they talk about Farrakhan, call me a hater, you know how they do – call me an anti-Semite. Stop it, I'm anti-termite!"

Jackson ultimately deleted the videos and apologized, stating that "Hitler was a bad person and I know that, I was just trying to uplift African Americans... and enlighten my people."

In another written apology Jackson stated that he "unintentionally hurt the Jewish community" by siding with the Nazi tyrant and Farrakhan.

The owner and general manager of the Eagles are both Jewish.

Asked about its significance he explained it was in reference to the first syllable of his last name.

"My last name's Jeudy. People sometimes call me 'Jew,' ... So, I just got a Jewish star," he explained. "I'm not Jewish, though."

The Star of David, is shaped like a hexagram and is a widely recognized symbol of modern Jewish identity and Judaism.

Jeudy, the headliner of a deep wide receiver class, later tweeted an apology.

"Don't mean no disrespect to the Jewish people! I'm sorry to the people who take my chain offensive!!" Jeudy wrote.

Israel is rolling out the red carpet for New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who arrives next week to collect the Genesis Prize, a prestigious award dubbed by its sponsors as the "Jewish Nobel Prize."

Kraft, a longtime supporter of Jewish and Israeli causes, can expect a warm welcome during a nearly weeklong visit.

In addition to collecting the $1 million award, he is scheduled to have lunch with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and deliver the keynote speech at a lavish ceremony hosted by comic Martin Short. Dozens of VIPs are expected at the invitation-only event, including leaders of Jewish organizations, top business and political figures and the prime minister.

Throughout the visit, he is expected to be accompanied by nearly 60 former and active NFL players. The delegation is scheduled to be welcomed at a reception at U.S. Ambassador David Friedman's seaside residence north of Tel Aviv. Kraft is good friends with both Netanyahu and President Donald Trump.

The Genesis Prize is granted each year to an individual in recognition of their commitment to Jewish values. Organizers say that Kraft has decided to donate his award to fight anti-Semitism.

"Robert Kraft's visit to Israel next week represents a very important milestone in the fight against anti-Semitism, the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement and other efforts to delegitimize the state of Israel," said Stan Polovets, chairman and co-founder of the Genesis Prize Foundation.

"By accepting the Genesis Prize and declaring his commitment to confront the evils of anti-Semitism head-on, Robert has also accepted a tremendous amount of responsibility. Responsibility to speak up against hate. Responsibility to lead. And a responsibility to unite," he added.

Last year's winner, Natalie Portman, snubbed the event because she did not want to appear to be endorsing Netanyahu. The saga was troubling for the foundation, which says it works hard to prevent its philanthropy from being politicized.

Kraft is the founder, chairman and CEO of the Kraft Group, the holding company of a diversified portfolio of businesses, which includes one of the largest privately-owned paper and packaging conglomerates in the world. He is best known, however, as the owner of the six-time Super Bowl champion Patriots, one of the most successful franchises in American sports.

He is a well-known philanthropist in Israel, with deep connections to politicians across the political spectrum, and he has been a driving force in the growth of American football in Israel in recent years. He's sponsored the sport since it was launched in 1999, and there are now more than 2,000 active players on more than 80 teams playing at various levels.

In 2017, he dedicated the Kraft Sports Complex in Jerusalem, which includes Israel's first full-sized football field. At the time, he brought another group of professional football Hall of Fame players with him, including legendary players Joe Montana, Jim Brown, Roger Staubach and Mike Singletary.

Tom Brady and other Patriots stars have also visited over the years.

Kraft also owns the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. Last month, the team hosted FC Chelsea at Gillette Stadium in May for a friendly match billed "The Final Whistle on Hate."

The match was a way for Kraft and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who is also Jewish, to raise awareness on anti-Semitism and support nonprofits that track and fight hate crimes.

The Genesis Prize was inaugurated in 2014 and is run in a partnership between the Prime Minister's Office, the private Genesis Prize Foundation and the chairman's office of the Jewish Agency. It is funded by a $100 million endowment established by the foundation.

Kraft is the sixth winner of the prize, following Portman, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, actor Michael Douglas, violinist Itzhak Perlman and sculptor Anish Kapoor. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been granted the foundation's only lifetime achievement award.
