Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney, one of the boldest and most prominent stars of recent years, is used to stealing the spotlight on the red carpet and making waves in advertisements like the one for American Eagle. But Monday night at the premiere of her new film, "The Housemaid", she managed to move us in particular.

The reason? A dramatic, sexy, and elegant dress designed by Israeli fashion house Galia Lahav which made a big splash in Hollywood.

Sweeney chose a design that highlights Galia Lahav's recognizable signature – precise tailoring, rich fabrics, and an unapologetic presence. The choice of an Israeli designer for such a high-profile evening proves once again that Israeli designers are playing in the big leagues.

Behind the international success stands an inspiring story. Galia Lahav began her journey by studying at the Teachers' Seminary for Handicrafts and Art in Givatayim, Israel. She worked as an art teacher at an elementary school in Ashdod, and, in 1985, opened a small fashion design studio in the city, specializing in wedding dresses and unique lace. From the local studio, the path led to Dizengoff in Tel Aviv, and later to a four-story building on Herzl Street.

Today, Galia Lahav's fashion house is a global name with stores in Tel Aviv, Los Angeles and Hamburg, and about 70 points of sale worldwide. In 2016, another historic moment was recorded when the house was accepted into the French Federation of Haute Couture, becoming the first Israeli fashion house to achieve this prestigious accomplishment.

Sydney Sweeney's choice for a high-profile Hollywood event is not just a personal compliment to the designer, but a clear fashion statement – Israeli haute couture, and in the front row of the red carpet.

Kim Kardashian's SKIMS announced Tuesday its official entry into the Israeli market through an exclusive partnership with Ironi Group, the premium fashion conglomerate behind Factory 54, marking a significant expansion for the globally popular shapewear and loungewear brand.

No longer limited to parallel imports, SKIMS announced Tuesday its entry into the Israeli market through an exclusive partnership with Ironi Group, the premium and luxury fashion group that owns Factory 54.

Israel Hayom learned that standalone stores will also open at Ramat Aviv Mall and Big Fashion Glilot in several months. The first phase, launching alongside the website, will feature shop-in-shop formats within Factory 54 stores. Future plans include opening many more standalone stores, driven by the brand's high global popularity and strong demand from Israeli consumers.

The partnership represents another significant step in SKIMS' global expansion, allowing Israeli consumers to access the brand's innovative shapewear collections, loungewear, and bodysuits for the first time.

Starting November 10, SKIMS will launch for the first time in Israel on the Factory 54 website and expand during December to selected Factory 54 stores in a shop-in-shop format. Through the partnership, Israeli consumers will be exposed to the wide range of SKIMS' iconic and best-selling collections, alongside seasonal launches in limited editions.

The partnership reflects a long-term vision to create a significant commercial and community presence in Israel, providing consumers with an international-level shopping experience that embodies SKIMS' brand values of innovation and comfort.

Until now, brand enthusiasts could purchase items through the international website that ships to Israel or order through Terminal X's parallel import service. Now, as noted, the brand is making an official entry into Israel. Regarding pricing policy, the price differences compared to the United States remain unknown.

Pink, glittery, and with wings – after years of searching for a new identity, the Victoria's Secret fashion show returned to center stage Wednesday night. The runway featured familiar names alongside fresh faces: Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Jasmine Tookes, alongside Angel Reese, Iris Law, and Suni Lee – and of course Israeli representative Daniella Halfon.

This marks the second consecutive year an Israeli model has walked in the prestigious show. Last year, Sun Mizrahi made history as the first Israeli model to walk the iconic runway.

Halfon, 22, who is represented by ITM modeling agency, was recently selected to photograph a campaign for "Kylie Cosmetics" – chosen from 100 candidates worldwide.

In an interview with Israel Hayom in January 2025, she revealed that despite being from Israel, she receives mostly positive reactions. "People mainly want to know what it's like to live in a place where there's war," she said.

During the show, the energy was complemented by live performances from Madison Beer, Cardi B, Korean group TWICE, and Missy Elliott. All of this – in less than an hour.

Model Jasmine Tookes was first to walk, proudly showing her pregnancy belly in a crocheted, sheer dress. For the first time in the brand's history, professional athletes also received wings. WNBA star Angel Reese and Olympic gymnast Suni Lee officially became new "angels."

The Hadid family naturally returned to the runway, with Bella Hadid, sporting new honey-colored hair, taking the runway in the evening's red section – alongside her sister Gigi, who returned exactly a decade after her debut appearance in the show.

The Victoria's Secret show is one of the most-watched stages in the world, and every model dreams of the moment she earns the chance to walk it.

Tel Aviv Fashion Week is set to return soon, after a hiatus of more than two years during which no fashion week was held in Israel.

On Monday morning, Motty Reif announced during a casual meeting with industry leaders that Fashion Week would return in October 2025 at a completely new location. During the meeting, Reif addressed previous attempts to bring back Fashion Week, saying, "We wanted to do it last year as well, but it didn't work out because of the war."

In an official story posted to his Instagram account and the Tel Aviv Fashion Week account, Reif confirmed the news and wrote, "Yes, Tel Aviv Fashion Week is coming back and in a big way! Details coming soon." The full program for Fashion Week is still in early stages, and additional details haven't been revealed yet.

As many know, Tel Aviv Fashion Week in its current format was first held in 2011, produced by Motty Reif. The event typically runs for four days, during which approximately 25 shows from various Israeli designers are usually presented.

The last Tel Aviv Fashion Week was held at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv Port in 2023 and was subsequently postponed due to the Iron Swords War. This October, Tel Aviv Fashion Week is expected to return to our lives for the first time since the war.

In the past, Tel Aviv Fashion Week moved between several locations: it began at the Station complex, moved to the site where TLV Mall was being built, returned to the Station complex, and in recent years was held at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv Port – and soon it will receive a new location as mentioned.

In its early days, various important international designers exhibited at Fashion Week, including Missoni and Roberto Cavalli. Years later, the decision was made to focus on Israeli designers without the "push" of luxury brands – the best of Israeli fashion.

Hostage survivor Noa Argamani has become one of the most prominent figures in Israel and around the world in recent months, using her public platform to convey one clear message – the return of all hostages home. 27-year-old Argamani received prestigious recognition when she was included in TIME magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

On Saturday night, at the magazine's glamorous gala in New York, Argamani appeared on the red carpet in a stunning yellow maxi dress, designed by Israeli designer Eli Tala. The dress was sewn in just three days before her flight to New York, and Argamani managed to convey a powerful and important message in an elegant and dignified way. The choice of yellow is not coincidental, of course. It's the color that has become the global symbol for the struggle to return all hostages, including Argamani's partner, Avinatan Or, who has been held captive by Hamas for 569 days.

"It's my honor to be part of such significant representation and to design for you, Noa, a symbolic dress that represents the return of our hostages for 567 days now. I'm proud of you and sure that an entire country feels like me about you being chosen as one of the 100 most influential people in the world and walking the red carpet of TIME magazine," Tala wrote.

The dress, in an elegant one-shoulder design, was made of satin fabric in a soft, refined yellow shade that shimmered under the camera flashes. The dress cut was classic A-style – fitted at the top and gradually widening toward the skirt, creating a flowing and sophisticated look. The meticulous design of the draping and folds gave the dress a luxurious and unforgettable appearance.

Argamani's participation in this prestigious event places her alongside other distinguished individuals included in the list, among them US President Donald Trump, Argentine President Javier Milei, billionaire Elon Musk, and Hollywood stars like Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively.

The TIME100 gala is one of the most prestigious events on New York's calendar, bringing together icons, leaders, and influencers from all industries around the world for an evening of dialogue and celebration. For Argamani, it was another opportunity to remind the world that the struggle to return the hostages continues, and that those still in captivity must not be forgotten.

While we've become accustomed to seeing Argamani in simple and modest appearances in recent months, her impressive and elegant appearance on the red carpet conveyed a clear message of determination, strength, and hope – values that have become symbolic of the struggle to bring the hostages home.

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony held Sunday night in Los Angeles brought together the best celebrities who came to see and especially to be seen, as well as to win 2025 Oscar awards.

Let's start with the most dazzling point of the night. Singer Doja Cat replaced the Balmain leopard print dress she wore on the red carpet with a garment – if one can call it that – made entirely of Swarovski chains, delivering the most talked-about look of the evening.

Doja Cat wrapped her body in diamond threads that covered all the necessary areas. The jewels hung on a sheer nude-colored dress that included a deep strapless neckline and a trailing train. She paired this brilliant masterpiece with matching strappy heels and a massive diamond ring.

After admiring this unique look, we can go back to slightly more traditional and refined dresses. These are the actresses who stole the show on the red carpet at the Oscars ceremony, starting with our Israeli star, Gal Gadot. Gadot wore a red strapless dress with pleats and pockets, in a look that somewhat references the Queen character in Snow White. There's no doubt she looked amazing.

Demi Moore, who didn't take home the statuette, shined in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé dress embellished with crystals featuring a plunging neckline and pleated embellishments at the waist that led to a dramatic train.

Ariana Grande, who also didn't win an award, stood out in a sculptural Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress in her signature pink color from the brand's Spring 2025 collection.

Zoe Saldaña, who won the Best Supporting Actress award, wore a Saint Laurent dress by Anthony Vaccarello that included a rhinestone-covered top and tiered wine-colored skirt. Sheer opera gloves and Cartier jewelry added even more drama.

Selena Gomez sparkled in a Ralph Lauren Collection dress adorned with hand-sewn crystals and more than 16,000 glass droplets crafted by a team of 12 artists. Bulgari jewelry added even more shine to the look.

Miley Cyrus brought her rock star style in a custom Alexander McQueen embellished dress.

Emma Stone glittered in a hand-knit champagne-colored Louis Vuitton dress.

Cynthia Erivo wore a forest green velvet dress with a royal collar, bow detail, and a puffy skirt. Note the manicure.

Elle Fanning brought a breath of old Hollywood glamour in a white lace dress with a sweet neckline and a black bow.

And there's no doubt that the star of the evening is Mickey Madison, who won the Oscar for Best Actress. Madison appeared in a custom Christian Dior Haute Couture dress.

Global fashion brand Saint Laurent (YSL) has ignited a firestorm of controversy by selecting Palestinian rapper Marwan Abdelhamid, known by his stage name Saint Levant. Abdelhamid, known for his antisemitic statements, as the face of its latest restaurant campaign, prompting calls for a boycott from Jewish organizations and customers worldwide.

The campaign, which debuted Monday evening, promotes "Saint Laurent Sushi Park" – the brand's new Japanese dining venture in Paris, developed in partnership with Chef Peter Park.

Abdelhamid (24) has recently ascended to prominence in the global music scene while simultaneously becoming a source of controversy due to his antisemitic rhetoric. This past November, he incited outrage during a performance in Amsterdam by publicly endorsing attacks against Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters, declaring, "This isn't the first time they (the Jews) come to a country that isn't theirs and start shit."

Born in east Jerusalem to parents of diverse heritage (Algerian, French, Palestinian, and Serbian), Abdelhamid spent his formative years in Gaza and received his education at an American school.

Currently, he splits his residence between Amman and Los Angeles, utilizing his platform to convey political messages. His stage name, which creates wordplay between "Saint Levant" and "Saint Laurent," may explain the rationale behind his selection for the current campaign.

The decision to choose Levant has elicited forceful responses from Jewish organizations including StopAntisemitism and SDS, which have initiated calls for a brand boycott. Across social media platforms, numerous followers are inundating the brand's pages with expressions of outrage, incorporating hostage symbols and Israeli flags.

"You're going to lose many customers," wrote one follower on the brand's Instagram page, while another contributed: "I'm selling all your bags, even though they're now worthless."

Critics highlight a pattern of contentious choices by Saint Laurent, including their previous selection of Dua Lipa, who is known for her criticism of Israel, as the face of their Libre perfume campaign.

For Abdelhamid, who recently took the stage at Coachella festival and sat for an interview with Vogue magazine, this isn't his inaugural fashion industry collaboration – two years ago, he fulfilled the role of Dior's ambassador to the Arab world. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, he stated: "Everything I do is focused on Israel and based on the Palestinian struggle."

Breaking a prolonged silence on her marriage to one of America's most notorious convicted murderers, attorney Rebecca Sneed disclosed in a detailed Facebook statement Friday that she and Lyle Menendez have ended their two-decade union, while firmly denying rumors of her husband's alleged involvement with a college student.

"We have been separated for some time," wrote Sneed, who has maintained a public presence as her husband's advocate throughout their marriage. She swiftly moved to quell speculation, adding that despite the separation, they "remain best friends and family," highlighting the complex nature of their relationship that began behind prison walls.

The announcement comes amid unsubstantiated reports published in The Sun suggesting a relationship between Menendez, 56, and a 21-year-old Manchester University student. "This is absolutely untrue," Sneed declared emphatically, addressing the allegations. "Our separation is not related to any infidelity."

Sneed emphasized her ongoing commitment to Menendez's cause, stating, "I continue to manage his Facebook pages in full cooperation with him. I remain forever committed to the fight for Lyle and Erik's release, as I have proven over the years."

The timing of the announcement carries particular poignancy, coming just weeks after Menendez himself reflected on their relationship in a Nov. 7 social media post. "This November, we will celebrate 20 years of marriage," he wrote, praising Sneed's "unwavering support and belief in me" as instrumental in his personal growth journey.

The couple's 2003 prison wedding took place while Menendez and his brother Erik were serving life sentences without parole for the 1989 killing of their parents. Their conviction, secured in 1996, has recently garnered renewed attention following Netflix's series "Monster," featuring portrayals by Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch.

The series has catalyzed a wave of celebrity advocacy for the brothers' release. Among the prominent voices is Kim Kardashian, who penned an impassioned article for NBC News in October, highlighting their "exemplary disciplinary records" in prison. "We owe it to those little boys who lost their childhood, who never had a chance to be heard, to get help, or to be saved," Kardashian wrote.

In response to the mounting public discourse surrounding the case, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office has initiated a review of the brothers' sentences, marking a potential turning point in this decades-long legal saga.

The demand for secondhand clothing has skyrocketed in recent years. Many consumers view pre-loved fashion as a more affordable and environmentally friendly way to expand their wardrobes.

However, before you get excited about wearing your latest find, it's crucial to disinfect it properly. That's because clothing can harbor a significant number of infectious diseases.

Our skin is naturally covered with millions of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, collectively referred to as the skin microbiome. This means every piece of clothing we wear comes into close contact with these microbes.

Many of these microbes include bacteria that cause throat and skin infections, fungi like Candida, and even the human papillomavirus (HPV). The unique skin microbiome of each individual means that what is harmless for one person could cause illness in another.

Clothing is known to be a carrier of numerous disease-causing pathogens. This means that bacteria from the original owner's unique microbiome may still linger on secondhand clothes if they haven't been properly cleaned before resale. Additionally, any infection they had the last time they wore the garment might still be present.

The infection risk from secondhand clothing

Studies have found that clothing can harbor a variety of infectious pathogens, including bacteria that cause skin and blood infections. Skin microbes can survive on amino acids from sweat, oils secreted by hair follicles, and proteins from skin cells—all of which remain on clothes after they're worn.

Not only that, but research shows that many pathogenic bacteria can survive on clothing for months when stored at room temperature. Bacteria on cotton or blended fibers were found to remain alive for up to 90 days, while on polyester fabrics, they survived up to 200 days. Most bacteria thrived better on fabrics in environments with high humidity, suggesting that storing clothes in a dry setting is key to minimizing bacterial growth.

While it's difficult to determine the exact risk of illness from secondhand clothing, people with weakened immune systems are likely at the highest risk. If you have a compromised immune system, it's especially important to exercise caution before wearing secondhand purchases.

How to clean secondhand clothes

It's recommended to wash secondhand clothes with laundry detergent at a temperature of about 60°C (140°F).

Wash secondhand clothes separately from other items.

For extra assurance that all lingering bacteria are eliminated, use a dryer or steam iron on the clothing.

Even though sellers often promise that the clothes have been cleaned before sale, you can never be too careful. That's why it's a good idea to wash every secondhand garment you buy, regardless of the seller's claims. It's also advisable to wash any new clothing you purchase before wearing it for the first time.
