The Asus Vivobook S 15, a laptop powered by the Snapdragon X Elite (X1E78100) chipset, features exclusive Copilot+ PC features like live caption translations, Windows Studio Effects for webcam use, and Cocreator in Paint, powered by Qualcomm's Hexagon NPU. It has a sleek design with a number pad, thin bezels, and a magnesium alloy construction.

It includes a 15.6-inch OLED display with a 2880 x 1620 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD storage, and up to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge.

The Snapdragon chip delivers impressive performance, outperforming the M3 MacBook Air in tasks like Photoshop editing, video rendering, and multitasking, while offering efficient gaming performance without a discrete GPU.

Battery life under light load is comparable to the MacBook Air M3 and outlasts Intel and AMD-powered laptops. It lasts a full day of work and entertainment activities.

The laptop maintains low fan noise during light to medium tasks, with temperatures reaching up to 107°F (41.6°C) under heavy load, but still better than Intel and AMD processors.

It offers a variety of ports, including USB-C, HDMI, USB-A options, Thunderbolt 4, and a MicroSD slot, but lacks a full-size SD card reader.

While the Snapdragon X Elite outperforms high-end Intel and AMD chips in certain benchmarks, some 3D Mark tests require x86 architecture emulation, adding an extra workload for the chip.

Among Israel's 16 largest cities, Jerusalem has the worst quality of life according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

A CBS study evaluated residents' life expectancy, the density of housing, satisfaction with the cleanliness of the area, satisfaction with parks and green areas, and general confidence about the residential neighborhoods.

Kfar Saba, a city in central Israel with a nearly entirely Jewish population of over 110,400, scored the highest overall in the 51 areas that were assessed.

Tel Aviv, Israel's second-most populous city and the world's most expensive metropolis, ranked sixth. However, ,Tel Aviv led in terms of job opportunities as well as access to computers among schoolchildren.

According to the business daily Globes, the CBS divided up the cities in the study into three categories.

Above-average cities included Kfar Saba, Rehovot, Ramat Gan, Rishon Lezion, and Tel Aviv – all in central Israel – and the "capital of the Negev," Beersheba.

Holon and Petah Tikva were ranked "average," as was Haifa.

Cities ranked "below average" included Beit Shemesh and Jerusalem, Ashdod, Bnei Brak and Bat Yam.

While Jerusalem – Israel's largest city – ranked last overall, it scored higher than average in 18 of the measured areas. The capital's unemployment rate, residents' level of satisfaction with their neighborhoods, and access to computers drove its ranking down.

Workers at ZipRecruiter's Israeli R&D headquarters have organized a donation of laptops to LGBTQ youth who were kicked out of their homes and found shelter at Beit Dror and the Pink Roof.

Beit Dror offers temporary accommodation to LGBTQ kids age 12-18, from all kinds of backgrounds, who are in crisis. The facility supplies their basic needs – clothing, a place to sleep, meals, and hot showers, as well as emotional support, counseling, and education.

The Pink Roof provides similar emergency accommodations to LGBTQ young adults age 18-25.

Developers Sefi Mintzer and Ephraim Berkovitch, who devote some of their free time to volunteering with the Otot NGO for youth at risk, saw the distress of the young people who were left without support from their families, and had no computers to use for schoolwork or for digital interaction.

Laptops help the young people complete schoolwork and interact digitally ZipRecruiter

Mintzer and Berkovitch prompted ZipRecruiter employees to clean out the R&D center's storage rooms, and gathered up the computers that had been replaced. They donated the computers no longer in use to the young people.

Meanwhile, ZipRecruiter employees took it upon themselves to teach a free introductory programming course to residents of Beit Dror, helping them take the first step on the path to becoming programmers.

A computer system in use by the Likud Party crashed on Election Day, harming the party headquarters' work and reportedly costing Likud at least two seats that could have brought Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the 61 he needs to form a government, was over seen by Guy Benartzi, who is the nephew of Netanyahu's wife, Sara.

Follow Israel Hayom on Facebook and Twitter

Benartzi comes from the startup sector and co-founded Bancor, a company that deals with virtual currency.

Likud officials who were working with the system said the crash comprised a problem of unusual scope. These officials claimed that a few days before the March 23 election, the system had been tested, during which a number of problems were discovered. However, they said, because the person responsible for it was Netanyahu's nephew, officials were hesitant to express their concerns.

One Likud official involved in the computer failure told Israel Hayom that "Benartzi and his partners were responsible for the crash. They espoused pulling out of the Elector app and setting up a completely separate system. A few days before the election, they tested the system – and it crashed."

Other Likud officials confirmed that the system had been tested before March 23 and had worked, with the exception of minor problems "that they told us would be fixed."

These officials said that on the morning of Election Day "there was heavy use and the computer system was operating at 50% capacity until the afternoon. After that, everything worked perfectly."

According to the Likud, the system reported 3.2 million votes for Likud on Election Day, out of a potential 4 million Likud voters, a "knowledge gap" of some 800,000 votes that could in theory have secured more seats for the party.

Apart from the computer issues, sources in the Likud said that the drop in the party's number of seats since the March 2020 election occurred due to the Likud "donating" to Religious Zionist Party list leader Bezalel Smotrich by refraining from public attacked on him, and that other seats had moved from Netanyahu to Gideon Sa'ar and Naftali Benentt.

In recent days, the Likud party leadership has been asking for a probe into the system failure. No such probe has yet been approved.

When approached about the computer problem, the Likud responded in a statement that the party does not comment on campaign activity. "However, we will clarify that despite the claims, all the Likud oversight systems were operating successfully on Election Day," the party said.

The Health Ministry has launched a new smartphone application to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus by enabling users to know if they crossed paths with someone who has been diagnosed with it.

As of Wednesday morning, 2,030 Israelis have been diagnosed with the coronavirus and five have succumbed to COVID-19, the disease caused by it.

According to the Health Ministry, 37 patients are in serious condition, 54 are in moderate condition, and the rest are experiencing only mild symptoms. To date, 58 Israelis have recovered from the virus.

Released on Sunday, the app, called Hamagen ("The Shield"), tells users if, over the previous 14 days, they were in close proximity to anyone found to be infected by the coronavirus.

"The application is a technology intended to give each and every one of us the ability to accurately and immediately know if we were in contact with a person who is infected with the coronavirus," the Health Ministry said in a statement, adding, "With this, we can help  stop the spread of the disease and protect those closest to us."

The app is available in Hebrew, Arabic, English, Russian and Amharic, via the App Store or Google Play.

US-Israeli cybersecurity provider Cybereason said on Tuesday that it raised $200 million from Japan's Softbank and its affiliates, bringing the company closer to an initial public offering.

The new funds, which double the amount raised to date, will be used to fuel global growth and further innovate its cloud-based endpoint protection platform, Cybereason said.

The company made headlines in June when it uncovered what it called the largest nation-state cyber-espionage attack on multiple telecom companies.

"The $200 million investment is a big step towards taking Cybereason to IPO," CEO Lior Div told Reuters, saying a two-year timeline was reasonable.

Cybereason said it plans to increase investment in research and development and will also examine acquisition opportunities.

Softbank has invested previously in the company, along with venture capital firm CRV, Spark Capital and Lockheed Martin.

The company did not disclose a valuation for the funding round, but in an interview with Israel's Globes financial newspaper in February, Div said that they turned down an acquisition offer from an international buyer for more than $1 billion.
