Jonathan Benartzi, the grandson of murdered Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, has apologized for a tweet he sent out on Tuesday in which he said that if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was lying to the Israeli people about the need for an emergency national government, he "deserved to get corona and end his life in prison, sick."
Netanyahu's Likud party was quick to condemn the tweet: "Jonathan Benartzi is inciting for the death of the prime minister. Even when the prime minister is saving Israeli citizens' lives, the hatred knows no bounds. Do you think anyone will launch an investigation against him [Benartzi]?"

Likud minister Yoav Gallant shared Benartzi's tweet with the comment, "You should understand better than others what must not be said about a prime minister. I condemn your outrageous and ugly comments. The prime minister is handling the coronavirus crisis wisely and responsibly, 24/7. The world is praising Israel for how it is handling the corona crisis. We wish you and your family good health."
Later Tuesday, Benartzi tweeted an apology: "I do not wish corona on anyone, not even Netanyahu. I apologize for it."
