Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh told the Qatar-backed Al-Araby news channel on Wednesday that current PA President Mahmoud Abbas will be Fatah's presidential candidate in upcoming elections.

For the first time in 15 years, Palestinian elections will take place in May and July, according to a decree that Abbas issued on Friday.
Shtayyeh on Monday called on the European Union to support the electoral process by setting up a team of observers, in particular for the organization of polls in east Jerusalem.
