Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit appeared on Sunday at Israel Hayom's Conference on the Fight Against Crime in Israel, vowing that his office would not shy away from adapting to the ongoing challenges posed by criminals.
"The crime world today is very different today compared to what it was a decade ago, both in terms of sophistication and in scope," Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit said on Sunday at Israel Hayom's Conference on the Fight Against Crime in Israel.
Israel's chief law enforcement official added that it was paramount that various government agencies ensure that the judiciary carries out its duties in a democracy by upholding the rule of law.

He stressed that the authorities were engaged in a "well-coordinated, integrated and uncompromising effort to counter crime in Israel," and that it was crucial that the "law-enforcement agencies remain independent and strong."
Public Security Minister Amir Ohana, who also spoke at the event, vowed to crack down on violence in crime-ridden communities. "Taking the Border Guard out of villages was a mistake," he said. "I will bring it back there," he continued.
Yoel Zilberman, the CEO and founder of the vigilante organization Hashomer Hachadash that seeks to help ensure the protection of farmers and their produce, said at the conference that it was vital that Israeli law-enforcement agencies show resolve in fighting crime. "We must not belittle the crime targeting agriculture, because is a matter of life and death," he said. "I consider individual security to be a partnership between the citizen and the local authorities," he added.
