Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip said Israel had assassinated three terrorists as they were engaged in rocket fire toward Israel. According to some unverified reports 9 people were killed in that incident, including a senior Hamas official.
The alleged targeted killing took place in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, apparently in response to an antitank missile being fired toward an Israeli civilian vehicle. One Israelis was injured by that missile, with minor wounds sustained.

That launch came in conjunction with a massive rocket barrage toward Israeli population centers by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the wake of ongoing tensions surrounding Jerusalem and Ramadan.
It is unclear if other officials and activists were targeted in the early hours of the evening on Monday, although Israel has repeatedly warned that it will retaliate forcefully against any provocation.
