A 20-year-old man has been indicted for allegedly attacking a bus driver who told him to put on a mask – in accordance with current COVID health regulations for public transportation – on the 461 intercity bus from Ariel to Jerusalem last Friday.

According to the indictment, Elhanan Wizgan allegedly boarded the bus on Aug. 13 and was not wearing a mask. The driver told Wizgan that he needed to put one on. Wizgan then allegedly put his head close to the driver and told him, "I'm looking at you, you have a problem. I'll get on with or without a mask, you hear me?"
Wizgan then reportedly continued to board the bus while swearing at the driver, who told him to "Shut up, you piece of trash."
The indictment says that Wizgan then approached the driver and started punching him, with blows landing on his head, nose, and forehead. The driver stopped the bus, threw Wizgan off him and pinned him down on one of the seats. Eventually, Wizgan calmed down.
The Judea Samaria District Prosecutor has asked that Wizgan be remanded until legal proceedings in the case are complete, calling him "dangerous."
