Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie officially joined Instagram on Sunday, breaking the social media platform's record of most followers gained immediately.

The Hollywood actress gained 2.1 million followers in under three hours, beating Jennifer Aniston's record of 1 million followers in five hours, marked when she made her Instagram debut in October 2019. As of noon, Monday, Jolie has 7.6 million followers.
In her first Instagram post, Jolie shared a photograph of a letter from a teenage girl in the now-Taliban ruled Afghanistan, as well as a photo of women wearing burkhas.
