Alkharumi, who served as chairman of the Knesset's Interior Committee, passed away at the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, the party confirmed.
It is a rarity for an Israeli lawmaker to pass away while in office and the poetical implications for the coalition are unclear.
A statement by Ra'am said, "The Islamic movement in Israel and Ra'am mourn our righteous brother Professor Saeed Alkharumi, who died after suffering a severe heart attack tonight.
"May Allah have mercy on our dear late Saeed, and accompany him in peace. We send our condolences to the family and tribe in the Negev and to all members of our Islamic movement and the Palestinian people. We belong to Allah and to him shall," the statement said.
