"His general condition is good and he continues working from quarantine," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh told the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.
Although Amirabdollahian's schedule changed, the diplomat would continue addressing his duties remotely, ABC News reported.
Earlier in the day, the ministry announced that Amirabdollahian would travel to India for the Indo-Iranian Joint Economic Commission in late November. Khatibzadeh did not say whether the diplomat would still be making the trip.
Iran is facing a sixth wave of COVID infections, despite the country's increased vaccine distribution. The country is battling one of the worst COVID outbreaks in the Middle East, Radio Free Europe reported, with over 125,000 deaths and almost six million infections.
