Asked why the United States should continue it support for the Jewish state, Pompeo said, "Well there are many reasons for that. The history of the nation of Israel is deeply tied to the foundational understandings of the United States of America. This is a Judeo-Christian nation and so this work is fitting not only for us as a security matter and as a practical, pragmatic matter, but it's also good for the nation and its history."

"The relationship between our countries ought always to be very close and very special." The US, he said, "Worked is so many different ways … to build that not only on the big things but in all the things that are indicia of trusted relationships between two nations and two peoples."

Asked about his work while in office to combat global antisemitim, the former diplomat said that his policies with respect to defneding Israel "stemmed from several central understnigns. … Those decisions were just a recognisiton of fact, and [sought] to make sure that those fact were understoon across the world.

"It's important becase we know hisotry; we know antisemitism and the ugliness of it all across the world, -- not only here in the US but in Europe and other places as well. We ought in every place to work for religious freedo broadly and to fight against antisemitism in particular."

"This work that we did was very much on my heart as well as," he continued, saying, "I'm an Evangelical christian, we understand the deep connections between these two abrahamic faiths and the work to prevent people from acting in ways are are inconsistent with the love of all people.

"There is such a central conflict between anti-Zionists claiming that they are not antisemitic it doens't stand the test of basic reason so we workd deligintly every day to stand this up everyhwere that we could."
