Israeli actress Orna Pitussi garnered criticism on Tuesday after posting a video on social media in which she called on vaccinated Israelis to "show solidarity" with the unvaccinated and refrain from going to malls.

"How much power and how much fraternity will there be if you do not enter the malls? We [anti-vaxxers] – due to a restriction, and you – out of choice. It will be a choice of solidarity and humanity," she said in the video.

In an effort to curb the spread of the Omicron variant, the government has recently mandated so-called "green pass" vaccination certificates for all those wishing to enter shopping centers. Unvaccinated individuals are only allowed to enter malls in special cases.

"What will happen if you don't enter the malls? You'll miss out on a new T-shirt or a coffee and pastry, and especially a pointless stroll in front of shops that present a lie," Pitussi said, saying the gain would outweigh the "sacrifice."

Users took to social media to criticize the actress who has a history of controversial remarks on the pandemic and vaccinations. "You're missing the basic understanding of what freedom is," one person commented.  Nevertheless, some expressed support for Pitussi.

"Whoever thinks it makes sense to get vaccinated with four doses in one year in order to enter a mall wearing a mask is mistaken," one user wrote. "There is no reason to beg them for anything," commented another.

Pitussi, whose daughter is about to enlist in the IDF, previously criticized the military's conduct with regard to vaccinations.

"The military has already woken up recruits in the middle of the night, forced them to get jabbed, and did not allow them to call parents to consult. In the military, soldiers have already been relieved of their administrative duties just because they refused to get vaccinated," she said.

In August, Pitussi destroyed her organ donor card in protest of pressure to get vaccinated. She was also fired from hit Israeli police drama Manayek after refusing to undergo COVID tests before filming.
