Two Border Police officers sustained minor injures on Thursday morning during a friendly fire incident near the Egypt-Israel border, IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed.

In total, nine drug smuggling attempts were foiled overnight, during which Israeli security forces seized approximately 400 kilograms (880 pounds) of drugs with an estimated street value of 8 million shekels ($2.5 million).

At one point, the smugglers opened fire at the troops, who returned fire. During one of the incidents, as a result of mistaken identity, two border policemen were shot and lightly injured.
The military is investigating the matter.
