Islamic State operative in Sinai Musab Mutawa, the nephew of Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar, was killed by the Egyptian military on Friday, Arabic media outlets reported.

Mutawa is the son of Jamil Mutawa and Jamila Al-Sinwar, Yahya Al-Sinwar's sister, the reports said. Jamila died in January this year after having reportedly contracted the coronavirus.
Mutawa's brother confirmed the reports in a Facebook post.
Saudi outlet Al Arabiya said that Mutawa's father was in charge of Hamas' charity and fundraising efforts in Gaza.
Egyptian sources told Al Arabiya Mutawa was a Hamas operative who defected to ISIS and tried to cross into the Sinai Peninsula, when he was detected and killed by local forces.
