The Israel Police are expected to ask the attorney general for authorization to launch a criminal investigation into violent incidents in which Arab MKs were involved in recent days, including violent exchanges with police officers.

On Friday, Joint Arab List MK Ofer Cassif was filmed confronting a police officer that blocked his way to a protest in southern Mount Hebron. In a separate incident, MK Ahmad Tibi was documented interfering with police work in a protest in Jerusalem.
A police official said that the department will not accept a reality "in which publicly elected officials physically harm Israeli police officers who are carrying out missions for the state."
The police seek the AG's approval to launch an investigation for assaulting police officers, obstruction of a police officer, and threatening a police officer.
