An IDF soldier serving in an artillery unit near Kiryat Shmona was bitten by a snake on Wednesday and seriously injured.

The soldier received lifesaving first aid in the field and was evacuated to Ziv Hospital in Safed for further treatment. His family was alerted to his condition.
In May, an Israeli Air Force soldier was seriously injured after being bit on the neck by a snake while on training exercises in central Israel. He was evacuated to the hospital in a medically induced coma, and attached to a ventilator.
