According to the Wall Street Journal, in March Kochavi attended a meeting in Egypt with several high-ranking military officials from Arab states, include the Saudi military chief of staff. Later that month, Kochavi visited Bahrain, where he reportedly met with the head of Bahrain's military.

In November 2021, Defense Minister Benny Gantz visited Morocco, where he signed an MoU for security cooperation between Israel and Morocco. The understandings served as a framework for bilateral defense and security ties, allowing a number of joint security projects to go ahead.

The understandings provided for intelligence sharing; allowed cooperation between the two countries' military industries; and joint drills. Foreign reports claimed that Israel and Morocco were working together to develop drones.

Israeli-Moroccan relations took another step forward when Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked visited the country. While there, Shaked announced that Israel recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the western Sahara region. The US has also recognized Moroccan sovereignty there.

Last week, King of Morocco Mohammed VI made a gesture toward Israel when he gave a green light to establish three government entities that would work to strengthen ties with Israel. Morocco, along with the US and Palestinian officials, also played a part in the decision to open the Allenby border crossing 24 hours a day.

Transportation Minister Merav Michaeli said that the crossing would open around the clock when all the logistics required were in place.
