A soldier was killed at a military base in central Israel due to an apparent accidental discharge from a weapon, the IDF said Tuesday morning. He was later named as Cpl. Baruch Kabarta, 19 years old, from Petach Tivka.

Kabarta was pronounced dead following resuscitation efforts, the military said. His family has been informed.
The IDF has launched an investigation into the tragic incident.
Kabarta served in the Military Police's Erez Battalion, the same as the late Stg. Noa Lazar, who was killed at a Jerusalem checkpoint in November last year.
