Internet divided over Netanyahu wearing puffer jacket indoors

Twitter users are racking their brains as to why the prime minister would wear a winter coat indoors on a warm day in separate meetings with the leaders of Italy and Cyprus.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the subject of an unusual discussion on Twitter this week, not the kind one would expect at a time of war.

Internet users were divided as to why the prime minister wore a puffer jacket indoors on a warm day in Tel Aviv, especially during separate meetings with the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni and the President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

Channel 12 News commentator Arad Nir was the first to bring attention to the matter, tweeting, "It's 25 degrees [77 degrees Fahrenheit] in Tel Aviv now. And he's wearing a puffer jacket. Indoors."

X users were quick to respond, with several suggesting Netanyahu, who wore a black puffer jacket often worn by security officials, was imitating Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is well-known for wearing a khaki military shirt during interviews and official meetings.

Some asked to alert the fashion police. Other users suggested Netanyahu was possibly covering up his t-shirt for an embarrassing reason.

Nevertheless, some users saw nothing unusual in the matter, suggesting that as Israelis are known to have the air conditioning on cold on warm days, the prime minister could, in fact, have been cold indoors.
